I think her attys wisely advised her not to get defensive on the stand and answer with yes and no. Not to fight with the prosecutor and I think she had no choice but to say she intended to kill because she did. Her whole claim is she feared for her life. Of course she intended to kill. There’s no getting around that. She’s claiming her training kicked in and she double tapped.

I actually think she came off more sympathetic when she answered honestly. As opposed to when she did her poor me act.
It's too bad her training didn't kick in and she rendered aid.

I liked how he walked over and stood right in front of her when he made his most accusatory statements. I think he is very good.

He actually was on another case not to long ago with another police officer and got him found guilty of murder. The police officer was black though in that case, so that could have played a little bit into factor.

I’m hoping he can put it all together and get the jury to understand it better, but honestly I hate putting hope into people. They always let me down. I’m not sure that I can watch the verdict because if this girl walks, I’m gonna highly disappointed and devastated.

Not sure why they stopped early on Sat. they were going to go till 4. someone said the last defense witnesses were from out of town. they mostly had residents that got confused...just nothing

I also heard it could be because they were going to rest on Monday, so they didn’t want to close on Saturday because you can’t deliberate on Sunday or atleast that wasn’t the plan. But I also heard because if they rested on a Saturday - the judge could have given the jurors instructions that day and since they were not coming back the next day, she wanted it fresh in their minds. Of course, This all speculation from some of those at the court house/media.

You can’t object to your own clients testimony.

So wait, you can’t object to the other lawyers questions to your client during cross examination? I know it’s the defenses client but it’s all fair game when the prosecution is grilling them??

Honest question for any medical professionals here - would it be wise to do CPR on an individual shot in the chest? Apart from the merits of the case, this has bothered me. If I came across a person shot in the chest, I would personally be afraid to do CPR, due to the location of the bleeding, fearing it would hasten death.

But I could not find any information about what happened further in that case.

It’s probably buried somewhere missing, along with ambers training - no where to be found Lol

Can you share a link to that case? TIA

I’m assuming it would be okay if the EMS did it with Botham.

But even if you didn’t want to do cpr because of the bullet. I would think you’d atleast put pressure to try to help with the bleeding ... or atleast do something like I don’t know ... maybe use your first aid kit with the stop bleed.

I would definitely try to stop bleeding, etc. I was just wondering if CPR would make the situation worse due to the bleeding.

I was quite surprised when she said that she intended to kill him.

She should have said I intended to kill him because I thought he was an intruder in my apartment.

I was surprised that her defense attorney did not object to that.

Jmo

The defense can't object to her own answers. The question is not one they can object to: "Did you intend to kill him." That's the whole issue. There are no grounds to object.

"Oh shoot, I really don't like what my client just said, 'Objection your honor!'" isn't going to fly.

But the testimony I saw she kept saying she shot him "because he was a threat". The state kept saying, "No. Answer my question. Did you intend to kill him?"
"Yes. Because he was a threat."
"You're still not answering my question. Did you intend to kill him?"
"Yes."

Her adding in of the "because he was a threat" was non responsive. He didn't ask her why. So the state could've objected and moved to strike. Instead he forced her to respond to just his question.

Right. Lol. No one mentioned anything about hate. Just her.

The DA was not having it at all. Not gonna lie I was watching him grill her and I know it’s weird to say that there is a favorite part of this trial but I am going to say it. My favorite part was when he asked her a questioned and she clearly was lying, he just rolled his eyes and walked away like “I ain’t got the time for this bs”

Oh do you know what minute? I'd love to see that.

I didn’t mean that in a smart way, just so you know. I re read it and though I hope they dont think I was being rude. I did mean it sarcastically though on ambers part though .. lol

They really didn't have a choice. They needed her to testify that she thought it was her apartment, that the door opened without the key, that she was afraid, etc. They have no way of getting any of that in without her.

Precisely.

True. Except clearly she didn't know her training. Which was to retreat and call for back up!!

Unless you were more concerned about your own situation. Why does it have to be more complicated than that? Of course the defendant and her attorneys would want to muddy it up with deflections. She simply was focused on her own developing situation of 100% Wrongfully shooting someone who was becoming more increasingly likely to die with each passing minute.

Let's not escape the fact that in a scary sort of way, she may have felt better knowing that Botham would not survive, and be able to tell his account of the incident. Conscience of guilt which comes from facing a wounded survivor. But I think it was not necessarily that deep, and she was just worried about the repercussions for what she did, and wanting to summon as many of her cop resources to bail her out of the situation. She couldn't do that AND attempt to save his less important life.

Like she said on the stand, she wishes she had been the one shot, and CLEARLY her actions in the moment demonstrate that "fact." LOL.
