I didn't follow this case closely enough to participate in discussion but am watching sentencing. How long will this phase of the trial last? When might AG actually be sentenced?

Defense team is dying inside with every witness and every tear. How the heck are they going to mitigate any of this? If they put her on the stand after these witnesses, she'll hang herself.

They have to put her on the stand imo. If for nothing else, to throw herself on their mercy and apologize profusely.

Good morning, Everyone. :)

We will see what she gets. Again, if it is because of the texts, legal or not, that is wrong. MOO

Hello,

JMO ... but IF I were on the jury, the texts and social media would be miniscule in comparison to what AG did and did not do after she shot Botham.

What disturbs me MORE than the text and SM posts is that she did NOT render any sort of aid to the innocent victim while he laid there bleeding to death, but chose to text her married BF. That is criminal, IMO.

MOO

I imagine it will go back to the jury today and then we wait for them to decide. I don't think the defense side will last very long. I highly doubt they would risk putting her back on the stand.

Totally disgusts me that the ignorant mutt was ever a police officer! There are so many dedicated and wonderful LE. I HATE that she puts a taint on all of them. Furious & sad

When a punishment for a crime has a range (e.g. 5-99 years) what should the length of time be based on?

There are a lot of problems within DPD. It's a harder job than other areas and they pay less. It's pretty routine that if you can't get a job with other local PDs, you go to Dallas.

I am guessing jury will deliberate 30 minutes max and then get the heck out of there. I bet they are completely done with this. IMO

Hi @BetteDavisEyes. I have read that they are unsure how long the sentencing hearing will take.

You really should try to catch up on this case; there are some really thought-provoking posts. IMO

It's embarrassing.

I have no idea but I would hate to be the one to have to work it out. How much does she deserve? He was young and had all his life to lead so do you base it on something like that?

:) Hello,

BBM: JMO but I do not see this happening ... she will NEVER apologize for what she did wrong.

No excuse for texting and not trying to help him but she shot him in heart and she knew that was a kill shot she might have known she couldn’t help. I do agree with you by way just wondering about how she made that choice xx

The testimony from Jean’s family and friends certainly express what an exemplary and special person Botham was and magnifies the sorrow caused by AG. What makes this worst is he was senselessly killed by a person who’s value as a human being is on par with dog excrement.

I love this judge for many reasons and one of those reasons is that she shows her emotions: watching her now as they came back from recess: she had to take several deep breaths-- she may have even been crying before coming back to the bench.

OOOOOH boy! :(

No one wants to hear from Amber's mom right now! No one! I'm so disinterested!

All of this is heartbreaking, but not as persuasive as what she did. I do not believe she feared for her life at any time (not even after the fact did she fear any sort of punitive consequences as she believed she would be protected and her actions justified/covered up). At all times (even IF this had been her own apartment) she had the upper hand. She was going to take the would be burglar by surprise and execute him (by her own admission). She didn't believe that taking a life deserved even a 10 second "let me catch my breath and think" value. She is someone to be feared, then and now. Lock her up.
