Rivera’s other son, a 3-year old boy, was placed in foster care after she was taken into custody. Typically, when the Department of Family and Protective Services removes a child from his or her parent’s care, they reach out to the next of kin and any extended family willing to take custody of the child.

The fact that the boy was placed in foster care means that family members were either unable to care for him or that nobody claimed him as family.

Christopher Henderson, a Houston attorney who represents Rivera, was assigned to her case on Thursday morning. Reached by phone on Thursday, Henderson said that he hoped to meet with Rivera by the end of the week. Rivera’s next appearance before the court will be on July 10, but Henderson said that could change pending possible motions he would file.

Gomez waived her right to counsel after her magistrate hearing on Tuesday in Galveston County Court, indicating that she will hire an attorney rather than have one assigned by the court. She's scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge again on July 19.

I am so happy that Jayden has his name back. I know that was important to all of us here on this thread.

How he died, why he died is just to painful to contemplate. But the good news is we know who did it and they will answer for this horrendous murder of that precious little boy. They won't get away with it.

Jayden was loved by so many strangers who worked tirelessly to get him his name back.

IVE BEen watching this case days one and while my heart is grateful that his name hasn’t been even going oven back, I’m furious that yet another adult female has murdered her own flesh. It sometimes begins to feel hopeless that it will ever end. im his isn’t is felony murder (murder that occurred during commission of another crime, abuse) and she will make an appointment with the executioner.

It is not yet clear if there was a pattern of abuse over the course of the boy’s life. A Department of Family and Protective Services investigator obtained records in July 2016 indicating that Jayden had been admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital with a broken left thigh bone, which was later confirmed by the Galveston County medical examiner.

Rivera was being held Thursday on a $250,000 bond. Bail was set at $100,000 for Gomez, a Mexico national who has an immigration hold. BBM

In 2016, dearest Jayden would have only been 2 yrs old (and his baby brother an infant) when mother allegedly investigated by DFPS. I wonder if the GF was in the picture back then? Nonetheless, the State needs to do better by these innocent children by removing them at the first sign of abuse. Reminds me of Wichita, KS failure (Lucas Hernandez). Can't get past the sadness in Jayden's eyes.

Other relatives might not be in the same state. In the Lucas Hernandez case his little sister was the subject of a CINC (Child in need of care) case and even though there were relatives around, some were out of state, and the same thing was said about no suitable relatives for the little girl's care. Some posters in Lucas' threads explained that being out of state can make placement take longer. I would also say that not all relatives are going to be in a position to immediately take in a child even if they do care. I would personally think that in a case like this child services will probably want full home studies done before making any placement *if* there is a relative who feels they can offer the child a home.

It also says his face began to swell and his health declined over 2 weeks while she beat him with clothes hangers and anything she could find. Maybe instead of continuing to beat him to death she should have taken him to a hospital!

There's only the one sad picture of Jayden where his poor little eyes look empty and defeated, and his pants look like pants that have grown too short but still fit in the waist. Lack of pictures of Jayden, his clothes, his small size for his age all point to lack of love for the poor baby. The admitted abuse (which probably comes nowhere close to the truth of what he endured - that "alcohol" story is super sketchy) just completes the picture of an unloved kiddo. Hurts my heart!

And children's services was involved in 7/16? Is that correct? Tears tears tears! I'm sorry Jayden!

I've tried looking up Daria Sarai Anezquita Gomez in the Galveston court site, but her name is not coming up. Also the Galveston jail site doesn't have her. I've tried last name of Gomez & Anezquita. Anyone know??

I see no court date yet for Rivera....

I believe she may be in ICE custody. Or was at that time.

According to this timeline they ID Jayden April 5 based on pictures from the family.

April 12 DNA from the mother was gathered and testing was completed April 26

April 24th on timeline. Police obtain Jacobs medical records of broken femur from children's services. Obviously, that signals CSB involvement at or around the time of that injury. Wonder how it got broken. I imagine THAT evidence is headed for trial.

I simply put it in quotes because IMO neither of those women deserve the title of a real mom. Real mothers protect their children. But in hindsight, I see how it could be interpreted other ways. If you are thinking that I was using it as a shortened form of a swear word, well I don't generally curse in real life (seriously), but the facts of this case could bring out that rare occasion
