Authorities and family members are searching for a 28-year-old College Station man who has been reported missing in Galveston.
Garrett Lee Dikes' abandoned truck has been located in Galveston and has been secured by police. Authorities believe he may be traveling on foot.
According to Galveston police, a security camera picked up an image of Dikes wearing brown shorts and a brown shirt on Tuesday. He appeared to be barefoot, police said.
Tyler McBride, a Galveston Police Department detective, said Dikes is wanted by the department on a stalking charge.
"We had entered a missing person's report because his parents had called to report him missing, but as the investigation went on we learned new information as to why he was down here regarding his ex-girlfriend," McBride said.
According to Galveston police, Dikes may have traveled to the city to speak with an ex-girlfriend, who had evacuated the Texas coast in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. McBride said when Dikes realized the woman was not home, he convinced her neighbors to allow him to take shelter in their home. Police believe he may have recently entered an abandoned Galveston home to avoid detection.
"He is wanted but is also considered to be endangered," McBride said. "This is a unique situation, to be both missing and wanted."
According to court records, Dikes pleaded guilty in 2012 in Brazos County a felony stalking charge. The charge was placed on deffered adjudication, which means if a defendant successfully completes his probation, the case will technically be dismissed. Dikes served two years probation in that case.
