He has to do 27 years before he is eligible for parole. With time already served of 18 months.

I figure we will see the appeals process start real soon for him.

I was thinking about the Marmolejo family today. I reread Manny's words and my heart and prayers are still with him and his family members.

So often when we follow the crimes and the outcomes of the trials for those crimes the family and the impact on them gets lost in the media coverage.

My heart is heavy for this family. Although us as outsiders looking in can say to ourselves that justice has been served and that closure has happened...it's really not the case most of the time.

This family has to reconcile the fact that their brother murdered their mom and dumped her body in the desert.

A task that is almost impossible to comprehend emotionally but the fact that their brother refuses to admit what he did and refuses to apologize adds insult to injury.

So if the Marmolejo family should ever read here---please know that you are in my prayers. I pray that you will be able to move forward through and get to the other side of your pain. Whether or not david should ever choose to admit his responsibility for his actions or not.

May your dear Mother rest in peace. I can only imagine that you miss her every day.
