ABILENE, Texas -- Billie Jean Dunn has been charged with hindering, apprehension and prosecution a "Class A" misdemeanor, possession of dangerous drugs and false report to police officers.

Dunn will see Justice of the Peace Williams in the morning and a bond will be set at that time.

Billie Jean Dunn, mother of missing teen Hailey Dunn, is in custody in the Mitchell County Jail.

Texas Rangers have also been seen searching the home of Shawn Adkins' grandmother in Dunn Texas, north of Colorado City.

Law enforcement spent several hours searching the home of Shawn Adkins' grandmother Thursday. Neighbors said that officers arrived around 1:30 pm.

We're told they were executing a search warrant, not an arrest warrant.

Witnesses said they saw officers in windows, scanning the home and garage area with flashlights.

Investigators from the Mitchell County District Attorney's Office and Howard County District Attorney's Office were attempting to serve a search warrant Thursday evening around 6 p.m. at Billie Dunn's home when she was handcuffed and taken to the Mitchell County Jail. Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, was interrogated for 2 1/2 hours by law enforcement officials.

Billie Jean Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, has been arraigned by Mitchell County Justice of the Peace James Williams.

Dunn's bond was set at $6,500 and she returned to jail after the arraignment hearing this morning until she can post bail.

Dunn was escorted from the Mitchell County Jail to the Mitchell County Courthouse this morning in an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. She declined to answer questions from the media.

UPDATE 11:34 a.m.: The Midland judge who signed a search warrant for Shawn Adkins declines to release information about the warrant. Here is the statement from the judge's court coordinator:

"On Thursday, March 17, Judge John Hyde authorized an evidentiary search warrant for Howard County law enforcement officers in connection with an existing criminal investigation.

"The search warrant is in possession of Howard County officers at this time and Judge Hyde declines to release any information regarding an ongoing criminal investigation."

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said Billie Dunn consented to having her home searched after telling officers Adkins was not there. When investigators searched the house, they found Adkins and executed the search warrant for him, but Toombs would not elaborate on what evidence was sought or collected.
The search warrant was issued out of Howard County because his mother’s house in Big Spring was his last known address.

Search warrant affidavits acquired by KTXS through the Freedom of Information Act show the warrant used by law enforcement in Scurry County Thursday night was used to look for more child .

The affidavit confirms earlier reports by KTXS that child was found on a computer, and one memory stick in the home of Hailey Dunn in Colorado City. In the slack space, or the area of the computer where items had been deleted, the FBI found images of child and other obscene images including adult , deviant sexual behavior, and bestiality.

...pornographic images were found on Adkins' cell phone, and in the computer of RN (grandmother) in Dunn, Texas. This same home was where investigators served the warrant Thursday and took electronic devices.

The warrant also mentions that 2 Kodak Easy Share cameras were in the home, and that pornographic images found on Adkins' phone were taken on a Kodak Easy Share camera.

J. Bruce Flournoy, of the Garza County Sheriff's Department, issued the request. He goes on to add that pornographic images have been found on every electronic device that law enforcement has been able to search.

Shawn Adkins, according to the affidavit, doesn't own a computer, and has been using friends' and relatives' computers.

Billie Dunn magistrated after arrest

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said of the investigation, "It's been a very difficult case," adding that most missing persons cases in the county are solved in less than 24 hours. "It's gone a lot slower than what we had hoped."

According to Toombs, law enforcement officials were looking for Shawn Adkins Thursday when serving the warrants, and Dunn lied to officers when they asked if she knew where he was. Adkins, the only named suspect in the case, was discovered to be in Dunn's home at the time of the search.

Adkins' status as a suspect has not changed, and when asked if Dunn had also been named as a suspect, Toombs replied, "No, but her arrest and everything that happened yesterday does not help her cause."

Billie Jean Dunn admitted this afternoon to lying to police about the whereabouts of her former live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins.

After her release from the Mitchell County Jail, Dunn briefly addressed the media outside her home in Colorado City this afternoon.

“He (Adkins) had come over here on his own and I had called his mother to come get him,” Dunn said.

Dunn was asked if she was lying about not knowing what happened to her daughter, Hailey Dunn, who was last seen Dec. 27.

“I am not lying," Dunn said. "Clint (Hailey's father) and I are doing everything we can to look for her (Hailey).”
