Plea hearing rescheduled for suspect in Hazana Anderson’s death

GALVESTON, Tex. (KBTX) -- A man connected to the death of one-year-old Hazana Anderson is still waiting for his plea hearing in Galveston County.

The hearing was supposed to happen last week, but the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office says it’s still on the trial docket.

Hewett's new plea hearing is set for Friday, November 8 at 9 a.m.

Christon has a hearing set for next week on Tuesday, November 12.

Plead not guilty. $500K bond; Judge reduces bond to $250K (1/9/19).

I take it from this that he made a plea deal - don't know "what" kind and received 20 years in prison.

Thanks Niner. It does appear that Hewett entered a guilty plea and therefore does not face a trial. He was sentenced to 20 years which is the maximum for his second-degree felony murder charge.

It will be interesting to see what happens with mom on Tuesday. She is seeking a bond reduction--I wonder if that denotes that she will enter a not guilty plea?

Plead not guilty. $500K bond.
1/29/19: Original charges of Abandoning/Endangering a Child and Filing a False Report to Police have been dismissed, a $500,000 bond for the charge of with tampering with a corpse, which was filed by Galveston County authorities on Nov. 1, 2018.
2/6/19 Update: Status hearing was held. Next Status hearing on 3/7/19.

Bond reduced for Hazana Anderson's mother; Hewett sentenced to 20 years

Galveston County District Judge Lonnie Cox on Tuesday reduced the bond for Hazana Anderson's mother, TiAundra Christon, 22, of College Station from $500,000 to $200,000.

Christon's next hearing will be January 24, 2020, and has a trial date scheduled for February 3, 2020, according to online court records.

KBTX asked a prosecutor with the Galveston County District Attorney's Office Tuesday why murder charges hadn't been pursued in the case, but he said he couldn't comment because of the pending trial.

Thanks Niner. I am getting use to the reset of her trial (all trials) and my only peace of mind with the constant delays is knowing that she is sitting, rotting in jail. That gives me patience.
