I would really like confirmation that he was at work in the morning while she was at the book fair. If they can't, he could have gone with her, stayed in the car and something happened on the way home, then the rest was staged. Otherwise, I'm still on the fence. IMO
LE does say she made it back home and their investigation starts at the apartment.

<snipped for focus>
Did you find somewhere specific that said the friend had not spoken to HB since summer?
During a conversation in May, according to the friend, Heidi spoke about her living arrangements. The friend said Heidi wanted to move to a vacant home in Kyle, Texas, that belongs to Carey’s father. The friend said she had no idea that Heidi never moved to the home, and was surprised to hear she was still living in her Austin apartment.
This whole conversation about moving to Kyle happened and May, it's December and she didn't know she was living in Austin.

The friend said she was also surprised when Heidi told over the summer that she had gotten back together with Carey. The pair had apparently previously broken up, according to the friend.

“We didn’t talk about Shane very often but the last conversation we had I was shocked to find that they were back together…..She had told me that they broke up but never told me they got back together [until this summer]. I always found that weird. Wouldn’t she have told me out of excitement? I knew she was pregnant I just didn’t know she was back with Shane.”
I read it as their last conversation happening sometime during the Summer.

I was wondering if they were suspicious of another tenant. Are they searching every single apartment, or just certain ones?

It might be apartments linked to certain vehicles that have attracted their attention. I don't think parking is assigned, but even if it is, and even if they run the plates, it can be tricky knowing who actually lives in the household that allegedly owns or drives the car.

It could also be that they are carefully throwing as broad a net as they think they can get away with before someone lawyers up or refuses a voluntary search and the search criteria are very specific - vehicles, residents, records if any, past associates, etc.

Today is my birthday and I am asking for a birthday favor.
Please read this post.

If you do not understand then there is nothing I can do.

I am going to spend my day sitting on this thread and timing out and banning people who do not understand the meaning of "DO NOT TRASH" anyone. I will also be going back to the last thread and timing out and banning posters.
You can say you don't believe someone, you can talk about why you don't believe someone, but you cannot accuse someone of a crime. You can question everything about the person as long as they have been in the mainstream media. You just can't be a jerk and trash and insult and pronounce their guilt.
Please keep on topic.
Thank you,
Tricia

If your birthday is today, we have a forecast for the year ahead...

Was it warm enough for the pool to be open? Is there a changing room by the pool, anyone know?
Doubt it. From what other posters in the area have said, it's not too warm this time of year in Austin.

There are two things that bother me.

1. The timeline for both HB and SC. Other than their early morning routine and the fact that HB was at the school and likely made it back home at some point in the day, there is a lot of unaccounted time. That 2pm to 7:30pm timeframe really bothers me.

2. The overall investigation is very vague. There haven't been any public warnings. There hasn't been a declared POI. It doesn't seem like there have been extensive searches, unless MSM has dropped the ball on reporting them. The presser shared no new information. This bothers me, because what they're not saying says a lot.

MOO. I hope to God they are found safe before Christmas.

And OK he’s made at least 3 mistakes publicly and I’m sure LE is eating him alive!
1) said her purse was upstairs, and then in the next sentence that they were still in her unlocked car?!!!!! Why in the world didn’t reporters follow up on that, and WHY isn’t it mentioned more in news reports?
2) said she was making sandwiches when he left ... then stops, laughs, gets flustered (you can see the inner workings of him trying to figure out how to fix it)
3) he says “She WAS,” and immediately shifts his language.. again, stops, his mind is racing to recover... and he flusters again.
GUILTY
He also hasn't accounted for the hrs in-between. Where he was what he was doing. He contacted some friends, and his dad,but not her parents, before reporting her missing. Seriously. Who does that? Who doesn't contact SO's parents in such a serious situation? They should be first ones contacted. I wonder if he'll do anymore interviews, to address these important questions,or if he's let investigators know this pertinent information.
MOO.

No, I doubt the pool would be open this time or year.

I hope so, too! I think LE holding details close to the vest may be a sign that things are moving in a certain direction. Perhaps it's just my wishful thinking, but I'd think there would be more requests from LE for more info after a week than there have been. MOO

I’ve only lived in an apartment for 1 year of my life and it wasn’t in Texas, but our pool was open 365 rain or shine and there were no changing rooms.

ETA - every tenant received a pool/gym key with their apartment key, so it was just always available.

Jumping in with some thoughts...

SC said HB had "all the money" in her purse (I can't find the link but it was MSM). Perhaps she was planning to leave him for good, stopped and cleaned out the bank account on her way home from the school, therefore having "all the money" in her purse. I know my controlling ex-husband would receive an alert from the bank for all debits over $50. IF SC is controlling too maybe he figured out what she was up to and came home early, confronted her, and something bad happened...? MOO

Or... with the quick set-up of the fundraising account, what if SC knows HB and baby are being held for debts owed? Maybe by someone close by which would explain LEO searching apartments? MOO

yeah, I think warmer areas get bugs a lot more than the Pac NW which is where I live. The trade off is probably the sunshine! I remember them when we lived in So Cal though.

The sunshine is worth ALL the bugs/snakes whatever. It is glorious. And warm temps for 99.9 % of the year. It's lovely.

Doubt it. From what other posters in the area have said, it's not too warm this time of year in Austin.

It is. We have warm weather most of the time - sweat your face right off for most major holidays, but we have these weird, short cold snaps that intervene, like the one that started yesterday. It was highs in the 80s for the relevant period which is typical. Halloween was unusually cool this year, we are normally sweating.

Oh and regarding pools - it's warm enough to have them open and most are heated, but most community centers shut them down for November/December and sometimes a month or two longer.

Question: Is that HB's vehicle in the picture?
You had asked the question on political landscape in Austin and TX. Short answer, red state with sizeable pockets of blue (Austin is one such blue pocket). Here is map and article:

Yeah, you know... when they held the press conference and a reporter specifically asked if SC was a POI, the cop said nobody was ruled out (not an exact quote). I wondered why he wasn’t ruled out as a POI, because by then they knew when he was supposed to be at work, and they knew when she was at the elementary school. They knew when she left the school and roughly when she got back to the apartments since they are certain she arrived there. It shouldn’t be difficult AT ALL to verify his alibi and take him off the POI list.

:(
The second friend who speaks, and cries...She says, "We will find you..." This seems like genuine concern and is what you would expect a loved one to say and act like when they have a missing family member or friend. In my opinion only.

BBM- It also sounds like in finding her, she means finding her body/remains. :( MOO

ETA: ignore my post. I read the quote wrong and so this reply doesn’t make sense in response. IDK but I’m almost certain they have never done an in depth search of that apartment. The reason I think this is because the media has been on this case right from the start and as far as I can recall (correct me if I’m wrong!), there haven’t been any news videos or photos showing them removing any sort of evidence from the apartment, right? I hope I just missed it. I just think if they did it, there would be videos or photos of it.

We saw photos of FBI agents on their balcony so I think they have done a thorough search and if nothing was removed it may mean no evidence was found to take.
