Agreed.
But remember he said he had to make supper for his son.....

Yeah, that 12 hour old sammie couldn’t wait any longer! He probably grilled it because the kid was crying that it was soggy and the kid thought cooking it might help.

Gee. A mother and child have been missing for 5 days and there was no sense of urgency at this press conference at all. At least act like you care. The ho-humness of the PC to me seems to point to her leaving on her own. If they have video of her at the apartment they know how she left. Question would be did someone pick her up or did she walk to meet her ride. If it was a kidnapping and they had video or a witness description they sure as heck oughta share it.
As others have pointed out though there were some odd things said....the detective worked violent crimes, LE is working it as search and recovery( just a slip of the tongue or a Freudian slip?).
If she did leave on her own and it was due to abuse, I just don’t understand leaving one of your children in that situation.
I also don’t understand having a press conference if you have basically nothing to say.

I disagree.

7:30 as the verified time they were reported missing is new.

Last known location being the apartment complex is also a newly released fact.

Both those tidbits are interesting pieces of info.
They're also the 2 things I thought LE would be comfortable releasing.

All other cards are being held closely to LE's vests.

Which tells us they don't want to tip their hand.

JMO.

Also, the reference by reporters and evasive response to past calls for service re domestic issues at the home?

I get the impression they are leaning towards this being voluntary.

How so? You think she’d leave without one kid? Why not just take off and not take him to school? Why would she leave the car and baby stuff at home if it were voluntary. IMO you’d do the opposite. Leave the phone so nobody can trace you and take purse and some extra things for baby.

No link, just watching, but retired FBI agent on HLN thinks they are leaning towards abduction. Agent is concerned about the border being so close to where she lived--about 200 miles away.

If a person were using drugs and learned that their last $25 had been spent on books. Would this cause a fit of rage?
Moo
I said this in the last thread!
I agree!!!!!!

if they have evidence to confirm she was back at the apartment after the book fair (no time released right?) - it must be on video IMO. or a neighbor saw them return. My hope is there is video - however, it would seem if she left - that would also be on video and they would have said - we have it on video she left iMO. Therefore, I don't think it is video that they have and I do not think this is voluntary at all. I believe them to both be deceased and they better be checking the dumpsters. JMO

Did anyone ask if the community needed to be scared that a mama and baby thief was on the loose?

This is the first presser I've read about where family did not make a plea.
And if family was there (Carey's or Broussards') -- maybe they asked not to be filmed for privacy ??
Absolutely agree about absence of family. LE has been sifting through hours of CCTV so must have a good idea of traffic into and out of complex by now. I also believe not hearing from missing victims family today at the Presser might have been a tactical move by LE.

Sure, the strategy would be to publicize the case and ask for leads. They’re struggling right now and need all the help they can get. So the PC was not to provide info - it was in the hope of getting some info.

Oh I don’t think they sounded like they’re struggling at all. It sounded like they’ve been systematically investigating all angles and know exactly what they’re doing.

Haha. True - we didn't see any family, and the press didn't mention any - and you'd think they would have done so!

But, we don't know who was who in the audience, unfortunately. Nothing about them. Wish there had been a glimpse.
Surely Will Dupree from KXAN would have mentioned that family were present if they were there. He was clammering for things to say to fill the dead air. All he said was that the press were waiting but had seen no one approach the podium. I think if the family were there at all, we'd know it from one of the news outlets there, if not APD themselves.

Interesting thought.

Have we heard from or seen her family? Did I miss that?

[BBM=Bolded by Me]

So, what if he arrived home before 1:40 pm. She was making lunch. That's when something happened. It gets dark at 5:00 p.m. Hard to see what goes out of the apartment after dark. Report to LE at 7:30 p.m.
(speculation only)
I agree!!

This is way way out there, but the thought of Annie Le just came to mind...and Raven Campbell (found after SIX years in a wall), others whose names I don't remember.....and an infant's body in a sealed box in a garage or attic. I know, crazy thoughts.
Please let this be a case of voluntary disappearance...though I doubt it.
