ABC13:
Husband still considered suspect 20 years after Galveston woman vanished
On Galveston Island, far from the bustling Strand and flip-flop wearing tourists, is Channelview Drive. The road winds along the bay. There's a scrap yard, a seafood stop, and massive cranes from an offshore transport company in the distance. There are few homes here.

In April 1999, Hope Ann Moore lived on quiet Channelview Drive in a house on stilts. The 32-year-old mother lived with her common-law husband, Clint Kent. They had a son and had been together four years.

Hope had a wild past. She had trouble with drugs, drinking, and partying. But she was working hard to change.

Hope had a steady job at the Bob Pagan Ford dealership on the island. She passed every drug test during the eight months she was employed.

"She was a really good worker," James Cabarubio said.

Cabarubio was Hope's former boss. He was also the last person to see her in public.

On Monday, April 26, 1999, Hope didn't show up for work. She had never done that before.

Details of Disappearance

Moore was last seen in Galveston, Texas on April 25, 1999. She was living in the 1600 block of Channelview Drive with her boyfriend, Clint Kent, and his older brother, Scott "Scotty" Kent, at the time.

Although Moore had been together with Clint for four years and they had a son, she was still legally married to another man. Clint was legally separated from his wife, but not divorced. Moore was also secretly seeing another man. After Scott joined the household, Moore had problems with him and claimed he'd tried to rape her.

Scott said Moore came home that day in a pickup truck, packed some clothes and her checkbook, and left in an older model, dirty, beat-up Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle drove down Channelview Street towards Industrial Boulevard. She has never been heard from again.

Although she'd been involved with drugs in the past, she'd been trying to turn her life around by the time she disappeared. She had worked at the Bob Pagan Ford dealership for eight months, passed every drug test she was given, and had gotten a small raise. Her boss described her as an ideal employee.

On April 26, Moore didn't show up for work as usual. Her boss thought this was odd, but he didn't notify the authorities. The next day, Clint arrived at the car dealership, said Moore would not be returning, and gave her boss her keys. The next day, concerned about the situation, her boss called the police and reported her missing.

Both Clint and Scott are considered possible suspects in Moore's disappearance. Scott pawned two of Moore's gold rings eight days after her disappearance, and forged a check on her bank account for $345.52, the exact balance of the account

Clint said he was visiting his parents out of town on the day Moore disappeared. He admitted he tampered with her brand-new truck before he left, because he didn't want her to be able to leave home. He refused to take a lie-detector test in Moore's case.

In addition to her son by Clint, Moore had an another son at the time of her disappearance. He was eleven years old and wasn't living with her; she had sent him to stay at a children's home a few weeks before she went missing. Clint later told Moore's son that she'd abandoned the family. He is now grown, and believes his mother met with foul play.

There has been no activity on Moore's Social Security number since she went missing. She is presumed dead, but her case remains unsolved.

I am the daughter of Hope. I was given up for adoption early on , but I remained close to her father, my grandfather, for most of my life until I lost contact and he passed away. I was supposed to meet her but then she “disappeared”. This broke my grandfather and I’m still in contact with the detective, but yet again this case has gone cold. I need help, I don’t think this case was handled well and there still remains no closure for my half brother and I. I don’t know where to look for help but here I am seeking it from other websleuths here, hoping, praying, that maybe a group of smart minds could come together to maybe pursue a private investigation of our own. Police miss things, they give up, they are not the ones laying awake at night wondering what happened and still grieving. Her birthday is soon, mine is in a few days and it strikes me that I made it longer in life than she did. She deserves more than to be a dusty file that is forgotten. I don’t know where to start, any help, thoughts, info, would be helpful. I am contemplating the FOIA to get her case files and then reaching out to private investigators that may take the case on pro bono as I am financially not in a place to fund such an undertaking. Please if anyone has ANY advice, any knowledge of navigating this type of situation please reach out.

I live in this area and never heard of this case. However I will start trying to look in to anything that could possibly help. IMO the brothers did something to her. If the boyfriend was in possession of the new truck, what happened to it because he was not a legal spouse?
