Tx- Houston Custodian at Medical Office Peed in Water Bottles of Employees Causing STD's

When you need to resort to using 16s sequencing, the amount of bacteria you are detecting is extremely low, and with no guarantee that is living, and not dead. But that is besides the point. STDs are not spread via urine, not at all. Disease is not spread by urine.

I am seriously questioning, not stating fact, but since he said he would "rub up against the bottle", couldn't there be a sexual aspect to this and maybe spread as well. Talking maybe genital herpes or other diseases?

HOUSTON — A custodian was arrested after a co-worker accused him of giving her a sexually transmitted disease when he urinated in her water bottle at a Houston medical office building, according to court documents.

Since then, 11 other potential victims have come forward and are continuing to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases, court documents say.

The victim told police she set up a hidden camera in her office. According to court documents, the suspect was caught on camera entering her office and rubbing his genitals on the victim’s water bottle.

The woman then notified the police the next day and provided them with two water bottles as evidence. When police confronted Diaz about the incidents, he admitted to what he had done.

Police were wearing body cameras at the time of the arrest and questioning.
He also admitted to police that he had done something similar at a previous job where he worked for eight months. Diaz told police he did it out of “malicious intent” and that it was a “sickness.”

Diaz also told police he could not remember how many times he had done this before and that he was not aware of any diseases he had.
Lab results confirmed that the victim had contracted a sexually transmitted disease, which she did not have prior to the incident, according to court documents. The suspect also tested positive for the same disease and a second one as well.

I am pretty sure you cannot get a STD from drinking pee.

This is absolutely disgusting and abhorrent behavior, but I don't think STD transmission via water bottle urine sounds possible? Even if there was other "fluids" on the bottle, don't STDs in semen die pretty darn quickly when they are exposed to the outside of the body (e.g. on a water bottle)?

A woman set up a hidden camera in her office to determine why her water had a "funny taste and smell to it" when she left it overnight. The captured video allegedly shows a janitor, 50-year-old Lucio Diaz, putting his genitals into the woman's water bottle during his overnight shift. The woman now claims she has contracted an STD as a result of Diaz's actions, while thirteen other people have stepped forward claiming the janitor has victimized them. The Law&Crime Network's Jesse Weber breaks it down with Houston criminal defense attorney Nicole DeBorde Hochglaube.
