Still trying to find contact personnel to submit the MP I mentioned in page 13. I'd like to do this directly and not through NamUs....

Last year, I found a name and email that actually replied to me and I'll try and locate it for you.

Somehow I have the feeling, looking at him, and although he is listed as Caucasian/Hispanic he might have some Asian mixed in too or even is of Filipino descent.

I have some doubts, but could this John Doe be David Rivera – The Charley Project
  • Missing Since 08/29/2017
  • Missing From Annapolis, Maryland
  • Classification Endangered Missing
  • Sex Male
  • Race Hispanic
  • Date of Birth 11/15/2000 (22)
  • Age 16 years old

At the time of his disappearance, David was a sophomore in high school. He was well-liked at school and enjoyed playing soccer. His parents, who had moved to the United States from Mexico over twenty years earlier, do not believe he was involved with gangs.

In 2019, authorities announced they had "concerning information" about the disappearances of David and another sixteen-year-old boy, Javier Rodriguez, who went missing from Annapolis two years before David. Both teens are classified as "critically missing." Their cases remain unsolved.

I'd say submit both Javier and David. Just based off looks, Javier matches up a bit more but it can never hurt to consider them.

I have also found this guy looking at missing kids in Texas. Problem is I can't find any other info. Has he been found, is he still missing? If anyone finds any info, let me know. He look a lot like our guy.

Filipino is definitely possible. My friends from the Philippines bear a striking resemblance to JD.

I wonder what the critical and concerning info was….

Given both teens were designated "critically missing," meaning police believed them to be especially vulnerable, this was not good. First Javier, then David two years later??? How tragic for these families.

I am so discouraged that he has not been identified yet. How long does it usually take for the rule-outs to show in NamUs? I know we have submitted a few. I personally submitted a handful four months ago. I am hoping we can get our JD identified before the one-year anniversary happens.

There's IDs I've submitted multiple years ago that never show up as rule outs :// It's super frustrating because you never get an answer why; is there no DNA or dental charts available? Or was it just dismissed and never followed up on?

I really didn't think it'd take coming up on a year to ID him. :(

just FYI I think this one might be a typo, I looked it up and found two mentions of him and one spelled his last name as the more common "Valenzuela." Poster says he's missing from Sonora state which does border the US but on the opposite end of the border from Houston. Still, not an impossible distance for a lead, especially with over a year out from last known contact.

Were there any stats (height stands out for UID) mentioned?

  • #279
none. I've found more hits on Mexican missing persons/UID social media groups (confirming the "Valenzuela" spelling) but I'm having a hard time navigating them.
