ive thought this in the past about potential id's... and ive been wrong. its never "unequivocal".
The likeness is excellent. The shape of the ears matches.

The likeness and ears in combination with matching moles and scars and other little marks makes this the surest I've been about an ID without a confirmation from LE.

That doesn't mean I can't be wrong, just means it all adds up to me thinking it's more likely this is our John Doe than not.

Undoubtedly unequivocal, the guy in the mugshot and the autopsy photo both have a crater on their forehead; both of their eyes exhibit a consistent palpebral fissure tilt & with one eye slightly higher than the other. Their noses are the same, matching eyebrow tilt, lips of the same size, and a general facial resemblance.

agreed! im 99.9% sure. i just think its good to have some hubris and reserve my excitement until things are confirmed; i was 95% confident about marcelino and he was ruled out quick, so i dont want to get burned again ;))

Yes, I've also had the experience of an absolutely positive for certain identification that turned out to be mistaken.

Further, confirming an identification can be a painfully slow process. Just locating next of kin can be a challenge, then getting DNA, getting it processed, etc. These days LE almost never announces a match without confirming it through DNA.

Fantastic find, facial recognition is showing at at almost 90 percent between the two, I've never seen one so high in years!. I wonder if it's taking long because it might not be his actual name, especially as it was a mug shot?

Agree about getting excited only for it to be someone else, however this is exceptional, IMO.

Good point. Even if it is a match, they might not be any wiser if he's using an alias or gave a false name.

In addition, the young men/man in both photos have the same moles immediately above their left eyebrows. They also have the same hyperpigmented spots beside their left eyes and on the left side of their chins, the same columella (skin between the nostrils) that hangs slightly below their nostrils, slightly asymmetric under-eye bags, and their eyebrow hairs "gather" in the same spot/s. The lighting in the mugshot isn't great for seeing the pigmentation on the right side of the subject's face, but I'd bet there is more on there.

Thinking about this young man today. Any updates?

Thinking about our Doe today. It's close to three years since his body was found. Someone is missing him. I see no updates regarding his case. I hope the new year brings new leads.

Today is 3 years since he passed away, and it’s gone really quiet, no update . R.I.P still come to check here every so often… I’ll never forget.

I am so sad that he hasn't been identified yet. Such a niño. Mi corazón.

When I first started following this case, I was sure he would be ID’d quickly. Boy, was I wrong! So do we know if the gentleman above was ever ruled out?

I really don't think he's from the US. And many come here alone.

I still believe he is the person who has been suggested, but I think either he gave a fake name when arrested before or they are struggling to find his family to confirm his identity. So sad.

Yes, I agree. I think his family came over from Mexico and thus his identity was lost. I'm just shocked that no one at all has come forward to claim this niño.

They may fear deportation if they are undocumented, or they might still be in Mexico and he came over alone :(

My thoughts and sentiments are with a lot of you guys

What if he was undocumented with an undocumented family, that he used a fake name at the arrest and tracking that person down yielded no results, so he’s still unidentified.

It’s possible that the family know. and are at peace with this, he’s had a burial, and maybe they’ve even visited the plot. But why would they jeopardise their entire lives in America just to put a name on a headstone, or give us and the government the answers they are looking for. If they know. And have maybe even held their own memorial and visited the grave. They could well be at peace with that. Which is 100% what our doe would have wanted, he wouldn’t want his families livelihoods turned upside down by his identification.

I just hope to god there isn’t a family out there that thinks their son is just off living a life in America or just lost contact, when sadly the unthinkable has happened. But my gut feeling is there is…

But for everyone’s sake I hope he does get identified and noticed. Maybe they could do the orthram and DNA genealogical tests to see if that yields any results.
