Lisa Darrow. Her age, height, hair color, and race are good. She went missing about eight months before Smurfette's estimated date of death.

I think I posted Julie Estep here a while ago, but I'll post her again just in case I'm mistaken. Her age, height, hair color, race and time of disappearance (less than two months before Smurfette's est. date of death) are consistent. Her weight of 165 pounds might be too big for size 5 cargos, but it really depends on the brand and she may have lost weight if she was out on the streets for 1 1/2 months.

Migmuu, I thought that she possibly could be a little bigger than size 5 as they are stretch pants. Sometimes depending, stretch pants can even stretch even more as you wear them through out the day. Not saying there wasn't a belt, but not one noted here. Just a thought. I was trying to think back when i was a size 5, years ago lol... i'm 5'2, i was right around 120-130 lbs then. Also what has me thinking, is the thong she was wearing. Makes me think of being an older teen 17? and not so much on the younger side of say 13-15. Also, the smurf shirt, I remember going into Hot Topic at some point in the last few years, they were also selling some older type cartoon stuff, shirts and so on, carebears and strawberry shortcake. Just some thoughts of mine. I'm a newbie, bare with me lol.

This is what I found just now. I'm sure this has to do with the promoting of the Smurf movie at that time, I'm wondering, what types of Tshirts were sold. Although, the shirt could be second hand. But hey it's worth a try *shrugs*.

"From March 12th to April 25th 2011, consumers who purchase a Smurf T-Shirt at any of the 200 participating Hot Topic retailers nationwide will receive a $20 discount off general admission to all US Six Flags theme parks."

Note on the thong: at first I thought the same thing, she has to be on the higher end of the age range to be wearing that, but I have my niece and her friend visiting ages 13 & 12, and well, that theory is out the window. Plus if you look at target a lot of their thongs are made with fabrics that tend to catch the eye of a younger consumer IMO.

What might be helpful is if you could find out what 200 stores were participating and where they are located. But I think early on in the forum the shirt was being discussed and someone mentioned that it could possibly be from Target. You would think someone who misses this girl would recognize this shirt. But also let's not forget about goodwill/thrift stores, if our girl was on the streets for a while its likely she did her shopping at a resale shop.

Ty Lyssav! I'll start looking to see if I can find anything about the stores and where they were located. Your right about the thongs and having them geared towards younger consumer like you mentioned. I know it's a stretch to try to go about the clothing, being they could be from a thrift shop, but, i'm trying to think out of the box. Funny thing is, I'm having a really difficult time finding the same pants from union bay. It might not lead anywhere if I did find them, but I was surprised at how difficult it was to find the same pair. Searching this morning and yesterday evening and still nothing. I appreciate your help Lyssav, i've been trying to go back in the posts and keep track of everything but there was just so much, I think i'll be taking notes. Off to look for the stores.

About recognizing the shirt, part of that is what made me wonder if she was older, maybe living on her own. where not everyone would know what she all has in her closet, or at least enough to recognize it.

Found something interesting, along the way. The T-shirt that is the same, listed on this website, http://www.sgtpapas.com/MiscItemsClothingPage1.html If you read underneath it, it states that it was made for the release of the movie in 2011.

Smurfette -
"He Smurfs Me, He Smurfs Me Not"
SMURFS TM & © Peyo 2012
Lafig B./IMPS.
Movie © 2011 CPII / SPAI.
Made in China

This t-shirt also has the same printed label in the back of the neck. As some of the other labels are of course different. So maybe it was purchased at Hot Topic, and this really is worth investigating a little more.

Ok, so after much squinting and messing with the picture at different angles, I was finally able to make out the brand name of the cargos Smurfette was wearing. They're size 5 Union Bay.

This is the closest match I could find to the pants Smurfette wore: http://images.monstermarketplace.com/wholesale-clothing/union-bay-mens-cargo-pants-800x1200.jpg

I looked them up and there are several stores that currently sell (or have sold) these cargos, including Kohl's and Sears. So, unfortunately, it's not like they're some really distinctive brand and I don't think it'd help unless there's something really special and traceable in one of the two tags on the pants, both of which are too small and blurry for me to read ...

Sears, kohls, and jcpenney all sell this brand. Also, Marshall's and Ross have random brands(they get a lot of clothes with minor imperfections, which is why they are sold at a lower price) also, if I am not mistaken union bay is or was sold at Kmarts, looks like there are Kmarts located in north texas and the Deep South near Harlingen.

I see what you mean, I see the size 5, I think the ones you posted are very similar, I think they are mens however. I didn't find any cargo pants like hers, with the flare leg and the belt buckle? thing on the belt loop. I was surprised. I do agree though, If we were to locate where they are from, it wouldn't help much. I can't find to much on the hot topic stores as far as which ones were participating in that event. I guess there are 690 total in the U.S and Puerto Rico, Makes me wonder, if maybe the event was only in Texas?

I have a couple more questions if that is ok. I read in an article that she was found among other items, like old shoes, and a bird bath and such. Does anyone know if they were linked to her as well, discarded at the same time maybe?

Lyssav, has this girl been submitted yet? LAURA FLORES

I'm trying really hard to find pictures of her with her showing her teeth, but i'm having difficulty. Also, I see that her face shape isn't consistent with what has been suggested. But i'm looking at the hair and chin and dates, although I realize that the timeline would be really tight. In her picture, it appears and she has a reddish tint to her hair that has grown some, with dark hair on the top, and a reddish purplish tint on the bottom. It also lists her Race as white, but she very much appears to be biracial.

Also, what are you thoughts on the stretch jeans, and maybe the thought that she was a couple sizes bigger like a 7 and could fit into stretch?

I don't think her missing date is consistent, Dr. Derrick says she believes smurfette died the first or second week of September. Also, she definitely doesn't look half black(which smurfette is believed to be) but is most likely Hispanic.

Thank you! I've been going back and have been doing some reading, I just haven't gotten through it all yet. I have so many tabs open it's crazy lol.

  • #495
Just an update for you, so you don't have to open too many tabs
They believe smurfette died somewhere between the first and second week of September. Smurfette is said to have white characteristics, however, her severe overbite leads them to believe she could be biracial white and black. She is definitely not Asian or mixed with Asian. It is not likely that she is Hispanic, Dr. Derrick would need a compelling reason to look into a case

Kimberly Burns. Height, age. race, hair description (except for the color), state and date missing are all consistent. She went missing about four hours from where Smurfette's body was found.

I think we have mentioned her a couple of times on the forum, I may have even showed her to Dr. Derrick, we send numerous emails back and forth so it's possible she didn't see the email. I think kimberly burns could definitely be a PM.
I have also started to once again look at older girls because I think we have exhausted most that are in the age range.

It's also possible that Smurfette could have gone missing at 14 (or even 13) and turned 15 in the meantime. I haven't had much luck looking for PMs who went missing at 14, though.
