I think her sketch needs to go national. The media has something new to say about Paula Deen everyday what about our missing CHILDREN??! I have thought about it over and over, if we can get a celebrity involved people will pay attention! There have been so many that have spoke out about Trayvon Martin, if her sketch is plastered on every news channel around the nation we may just find some answers, someone will recognize this child.

Your absolutely right! It does need to go national, somewhere, someone is missing her :(

I know this girl is hispanic, but there seems to be an overbite, timeline fits, maybe a little short, but I believe that the height and weight fits. She last had red highlights.

Here is another picture that google lists as her from a myspace picture it looks like.

Just spoke to Dr. Derrick, she said the second approximation should be available in about a month.

Did I read right that she had tattoos? Is it possible to get a rendering of those, or were they too degraded?

To me, an under-18 person with tattoos suggests a wild child, not someone who was kept confined and neglected by an abusive parent, which I think was one of the theories on why she hasn't been reported missing. But knowing the subject matter of the tattoos could provide some clues as to who she was and what she was into.

IF smurfette had any tattoos they are unknown to ME, she was almost completely skeletonized with the only fleshy areas being the hips where there are no tattoos. Since she was near complete skeleton it is impossible to determine whether or not she had any at all.

A 'wild child' could easily have been abused/neglected by a parent. There are abused teens who become reclusive, but there are also some who act out. I've known a few girls who cope with a history of physical/sexual abuse by breaking the rules, partying a lot, being really promiscuous (especially if they were sexually abused), etc.

@Lyssav: Do you know the cause of death? Is there any evidence at all that Smurfette was (or had ever been) sexually assaulted?

  • #609
No cause of death could be determined due to being near complete skeleton.

The idea is that she was malnourished or had a medical condition which resulted in a very small framed girl with frail bones.

Dr. Derrick seems to believe that she was most likely malnourished and possibly died "accidentally" .

The more I read the more I think Dr. Derrick is right. In most cases where a woman/girl is sexually assaulted and murdered they are left nude. Smurfette was fully clothed, and someone took the time to place her in a garbage bag. My question is, WHY did they dump her in a place where she would be easily found? Considering the surrounding area, why not just dump her in a body of water where she would be lost forever? It seems like whoever dumped her wanted her to be found.

I read the original post wrong; a potential match was ruled out because she had hip tattoos and Smurfette didn't.

You're absolutely right; I was envisioning a confinement scenario such as "Genie" which would explain why no one reported Smurfette missing - nobody would've known she existed. Someone in that situation would not have tattoos. However, it's a moot point since it turns out Smurfette didn't have (known) tattoos.

Sorry for not reading more closely.

No worries!!! There are way too many pages to go back and read them all and remember exactly what was said!! Thank you for joining the conversation, it's a real refresher reading new ideas/thoughts!!

I haven't seen this young lady listed on the thread yet. I've been searching to find any additional information or pics, but haven't found anything. I'll keep searching to see if I can find a pic that shows teeth. She is not listed on Namus.

She is listed as Hispanic but she doesn't seem to have traditional Hispanic features and may be biracial (MOO). In the pic her hair is more wavy than curly, but at her hairline it looks like she may actually have some curl to her hair. Maybe she styles it to remove some of the curl. I think some of her features fit (i.e. larger eyes, stronger jawline). If only we could see her teeth!

In the general information section, one of the places she has thought to have been is the Houston, TX area. That's ultimately why I included her. The missing date is pretty tight. But it doesn't say "last seen", so if she was reported missing Sept. 30 and had actually gone missing as little as a week to a week and a half earlier it is possibly a good match.

I know, a lot of "ifs", but I thought it was worth bringing her name forward.

I had run across Rose Gil at one time but I kind of discounted her thinking that Smurfette was more than likely not hispanic. But I don't recall knowing that she maybe headed to Houston. Think she may be a good candidate to be sumbitted Lyssav?

  • #615
I think anybody who might have been headed to Houston and who fits the stats ought to be submitted.

  • #616
Your right! Good point carbuff!

  • #617
The missing dates for both are IMO very tight. From missing date to date discovered that's only 2 weeks and I believe the postmortem interval they gave was 3-6weeks, however I think they should both still be submitted just in case those missing dates are not correct.

dark colored. But clothing description, lists Tan.

Victoria has been shown to Dr. Derrick due to the timeline and the clothing description she wanted to check it out so she contacted LE in MD, apparently this girl has been in contact with family/friends. She did look very promising.

Hmm interesting, that makes sense. I did find a facebook page, her mother seemed extremely upset that she was recieving prank phone calls from people who were threatinging her and tell her she was dead. I've been looking around the families pages, but i'm not seeing any really attached to her. It's definatly good to know that she has been in contact!!!
