Well, except that she's six feet tall...

Thanks. I couldn't find anything else on her and wondered if maybe the info was entered incorrectly. Does anyone have a list of people submitted or rule outs? Also, is there a picture or reconstruction? Thanks.

Was JaRay Wilson ever ruled out? Her height, age, and race match, and she has a narrow nose bridge and a 'strong' chin. http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewPoster&caseNum=1205080&orgPrefix=NCMC&searchLang=en_US

Also, what about Maria Balli? I don't remember Dr. Derrick ever ruling her out. Her hair color, height, age, weight, and race match, she has a very narrow nose and she went missing a little over two months before Smurfette's estimated time of death. http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewPoster&caseNum=1198327&orgPrefix=NCMC&searchLang=en_US

Anyway ... long shots, but:

Victoria Arthur
http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewPoster&caseNum=1221636&orgPrefix=NCMC&searchLang=undefined
Biracial (black and white), brown hair, hair was partially dyed red (like Dr. Derrick mentioned), 4'10 (so her height is within range) and 120 pounds. She is 13 but it was said that, if the 15 - 17 estimate is wrong, Smurfette is much more likely to be younger and not older. I think she vaguely resembles the facial reconstruction. The biggest issue is the date: she's listed as missing since August 18th, 2013.

http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewPoster&caseNum=1211100&orgPrefix=NCMC&searchLang=en_US
Age, height, hair color, weight and location all match. However, she is listed as Hispanic and her missing date is three months after Smurfette's body was found. She has a narrow nose...

Height, hair color and weight are all good. Problem is, she was 13 at Smurfette's estimated time of death, is listed as Hispanic and she is listed as missing since August 2013. =/ I'm mentoning her mostly because the picture of her on the right looks like Smurfette, particularly the eyes, narrow nose and 'strong' chin.

Age, height, weight, race, and hair color match. Her hair was dyed reddish brown at the time of her disappearance. Her missing date is 11 days before Smurfette's body was found, though.

Like most of the girls I'm listing here, the date is off. But her height, weight, race, age, and hair color match. She looks like she has a strong chin and maybe an overbite?

Jaray went missing October 15, 2012 one day before smurfettes remains were found, Jaray is believed to be a victim of human trafficking. She does remind me of the sketch though.

Maria was showed to Dr. Derrick, the face shape does not match.

Ok, three more. But none are listed as having African American ancestry.

ANA ROCHIN - Hispanic but looks like she could have an overbite. She would have been 20 last year. Height matches. Missing from California since 2009.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/rochin_ana.html

MALYSSA RUELAS - Caucasian (mixed Hispanic?). Strong chin, not sure about teeth. She is short at 4'8. Age 19 last year. Missing from a treatment centre in California in 2010. I wonder if that was a drub rehab? That would be consistent with Smurfette's poor teeth and osteopenia I suppose.

http://www.pollyklaas.org/missing/kids/malyssa-ruelas.html

RACHEL LESSERON - Family abduction in California, 20th August 2012. She was 13
and same height as Smurfette. Very small girl at 29 kilos. Wavy hair, thin nose. Her sister, Rivka, is similar in appearance but you can see she has gaps in her teeth. They have a brother with dwarfism. I don't know how that runs in families but could it be linked to other skeletal abnormalities?

It was about this time last year that our dear Smurfette died. People were celebrating Labor Day, the children were going back to school, football season had begun. We still don't know if Smurfette died of natural, accidental or criminal causes. We still don't know her name.

Who puts a body in a trash bag and dumps it on the side of the road? Why not bury her where she may never be found? They must have been in a rush. They must of needed to be somewhere. Work? Home?

What are your thoughts?

I think whoever dumped Smurfette, oddly enough, wanted her to be found. Possibly because they knew she wouldn't be ID'd easily, I still wonder if she is a victim of human trafficking(sex trade) they snatch girls as young as 10, could our girl have been missing for years??... I wonder if they lurk on the thread, I see so many guests more often than not. Someone has the answers, and it's time to come forward. This child will soon be buried without her name, we cannot let that happen. Smurfette cannot truly rest until she is named and sent home.

At one point we have talked about if the clothes she was wearing actually fit her, or if she was dressed by someone that put her there. If that is the case, were they trying to send a message with the shirt? "He smurfs(loves) me, he smurfs(loves) me not"

The shirt has always struck me as odd

Who are you smurfette??

I read this article about a grandmother that killed her granddaughter(with help from her now dead boyfriend) in 1998, and just now admitted she killed and dismembered her and scattered her remains.
This story made me think of smurfette.

I've wondered about the trash bag too.

Profilers are able to tell a lot by the crime that has been committed. I wonder if that trash bag symbolizes that Smurfette was trash to whoever disposed of her or if putting her in a bag was somehow more caring than leaving her out in the open to the elements?

I wish we had someone who could answer from a professional prospective.

I think the garbage bag was just a way for them to dump her to not get caught. Think about it, you see your neighbor coming out of the house with a garbage bag and place it in their car, (I bag my kids old clothes in garbage bags to haul them to goodwill) not really suspicious. Now if they came out with a rolled up rug id be curious.

However, if the garbage bag and shirt have any meaning, there are endless possibilities.

Who are you smurfette????

I don't think the trash bag has any significance other than it being an easy way to dispose of a body without 1) looking weird, and 2) taking a long time and risking people seeing you.

It doesn't look like whoever dumped Smurfette there put a lot of thought into hiding her body, because he/she could've easily buried her, dumped her body in the water, put it in a landfill or otherwise hid it somewhere it couldn't be found. But they also didn't go out of their way to pose her and make sure she was easily found, like some killers do when they want to shock whoever finds the body. They didn't undress her, which a lot of killers do because clothing can help a lot in identifying a body.

So I think that whoever dumped (and possibly killed?) her is someone who just panicked and wanted to get rid of the body as quickly as possible. Which makes me wonder if her death was an accident or not something that was premeditated. Maybe she was being beaten by a caregiver, was accidentally killed, the caregivers freaked out knowing they'd be in prison for it, and they drove out and found a semi-isolated place to dump the body. Because it doesn't sound like whoever did it is a genius murderer who's done this several times and was calm throughout.

Then again, that's my 'theory' and I could be 100% wrong.

I agree with your theory on the possibility of something happening with a caregiver. Which leads me to believe she hasn't been reported missing and may not be until someone figures it out. Kind of like Erica Parsons.

Her wearing clothes makes me think it was probably a caregiver, most girls that are kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered are usually nude when found.

Anyone else hear about Ariel Castro committing suicide? How unfair, he took the easy way out, I would've loved to see him rot in prison.

God bless the Cleveland three!

All good thoughts. I'm going to ponder for awhile. I think I am spinning my wheels looking for her in missing persons. I WILL continue to look at NamUs for new UID's that fit Smurfette.

In a way I am OK with Castro being dead. I think it will be easier for his victims to know he is GONE! I just wonder if he took information with him. Where is Ashley???

That is why I am upset, Ashley went missing from the same area, where is she? I think Castro was most likely involved in her disappearance as well. Ashley reminds me of the sketch of smurfette, if she didn't have DNA I would've thought she was a good PM.

Also they were supposed to be studying Castro in order to find out what made him "tick", and to help recognize this behavior in other "sick" people, to hopefully reduce the risks of these types of things from happening to others.

I asked Dr. Derrick when smurfette would be buried. She says she simply had not scheduled her for burial because she is not ready to let her go, but says eventually she will have to schedule that, just not today. I love how caring this woman is. If only there were a world of Dr. Derricks!!
