Well, they always think they are victims. The guy gets no sympathy from me.

I agree. You owe the IRS, then you need to shut up and pay it.

Prayers the people hurt will be able to recover. Prayers for the Iraq Vet who was there to help. Prayers that this world doesn't keep producing people that go crazy cakes.

The pictures are unbelievable of the crash. It's almost miraculous there's not 100 people unaccounted for. One is too many though. I so hope they find the person unaccounted for had an appointment elsewhere or something.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and thinking you'll get a different result". That guy so didn't understand the meaning of this saying. Insanity is purposely crashing your aircraft into a building of innocent people.

since he tried to barbecue two of them i highly doubt they were much of a concern to him.

I know, I was watching HLN, and heard he left his wife and child in the burning home. OMG - what a psychopath! What do you think -- bi-polar, narcassistic, manic. Something made this guy snap. I literally almost spit out my juice when I heard that. What a world we live in.....

Makes sense -- he tried to kill his wife, child, the IRS, himself. I'm sure his intent was to take out as many as possible. What a freak of nature (if I may say that).

Thanks for the update.

Official: Plane crash into office building ‘a criminal act’

By American-Statesman staff | Thursday, February 18, 2010, 03:14 PM

A plane crashed into a Northwest Austin building that houses federal offices about 10 this morning, injuring several people and sparking a fire that sent plumes of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the crash, at the Echelon 1 building in the 9400 block of Research Boulevard, was “apparently a criminal act.”

Austin Fire Department Division Chief Dawn Clopton said that the FBI would be taking over the investigation. An FBI agent who declined to identify himself said the agency is investigating the incident as an assault on a federal officer.

The plane, a single-engine Piper Cherokee PA-28-236 Dakota, took off from a Georgetown airport at 9:40 a.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown said just after noon. The airport has been evacuated, said Georgetown police Lt. Todd Turbush said, though he did not have details on why.
.......................
An IRS revenue collection agent who worked on the building’s second floor is missing, said Mark Menn, a 59-year-old field revenue agent who worked in the building. Menn declined to give the man’s name.

As you can see from the map, US Hwy 183 is conidered a north/south hwy...however, a good part of 183 actually runs east/west thru Austin....that's why when you hear folks talking in the videos about direction the plane was flying, it's confusing......because, just because one is 'southbound' on 183, doesn't mean you're really driving a true southerly direction....hope that makes sense.

(O/T -- when I first moved to Austin, people had bumper stickers that read "Pray for me, I drive 183".....I've always tried to avoid it if possible...it's always been a mess)

Not playing sides here, but sometimes the IRS does get it wrong. Just this year my husband was owed over 1K -- they instead sent us a bill for the same amount. OOPS! Now I have to hire a tax attorney to sort it out, and will probably have to go thru an audit and what not. Plus they added fees and penalties. I know the anger and frustration, but we deal with it and move on.

If this loon was rich enough to afford a small plane, own a home, have a job, I have no sympathy -- since a lot of people on this MB do not have the same luxury (including myself). I made a whopping 18K in 2009, which is poverty level in San Diego (so you can imagine my suprise that we owed anything). This guy had to be so selfish that he never even bothered to look outside his selfish little bubble.

Wife and 12 yr old daughter spent the night in a hotel last night after he got angry, and returned this morning.

Gosh, can you imagine if they hadn't left last night, he could have done it in the middle of the night while everyone was asleep and would have been a much worse outcome for the daughter and wife.

Therapist: Plane Crash Pilot Was Narcissistic

<snip>

He says as problems bog people down they often feel like the only way someone will listen is if they go out with a highly publicized bang.

But he says rational people understand they aren’t always in control of things they accept life's disputes for what they are and they back off and move on. This man obviously didn’t.

"He's very narcissistic: ‘Life ought to run my way…I am the holder of the truth so everybody else is the bad guy. I’m persecuted.’ So it’s about payback," Rhoades says.

(CBS/AP) The Georgetown, Texas airport was evacuated and a bomb squad was on the scene after a man flew from the airport Thursday morning and crashed his plane into a building housing nearly 200 federal tax employees.

However, federal authorities told CBS News the airport was declared all clear and no bomb was found in Joseph Stack's vehicle.

Prayers to the families of those injured, they were transported to Ft. Sam here in San Antonio. Speaking from first hand experience, there is no better burn unit anywhere in the country and maybe only 1 better in the world.

Texas Mist-thanks for all your updates and continual reporting on this story today. It has been a very tense day here in Austin for a lot of people. Having up-to-the-minute info helps allay unnecessary fear.
I feel so sorry for his wife and esp his daughter-left with nothing nothing nothing. I pray they recover somehow and have lots of support.

His stupid so-called 'manifesto'.....what a joke. I guess he considered himself to be some sort of 'martyr' for the cause? He was just a selfish bitter person who could not roll with the punches of life.
