We don't. And LE seems unsure of that too, given their most recent wording. How do we know for sure that there wasn’t a second person in the car, someone whose phone wasn’t lost in the accident and able to call for a ride?
Or, perhaps LE was able to access his roommate or friends and they provided the picture. I think the first pictures were provided by his parents. There is a remarkable difference in the two sets of pictures, not sure I would think they were the same man.I think the dogs lost the scent (not sure whose) about a quarter mile down the road.... a quarter of a mile is 1,320 feet.
As for the latest photo, I think he looks so different in all of the photos I've seen of him. In this latest photo though (looks like a selfie), he does have a goatee. I wonder if LE was able to access his phone / Cloud.

Wow these new statements are big IMO. Especially the first one. The consensus from the start has been that he was so injured that he wandered away and succumbed to his injuries nearby (probably water) and just hasn’t been found. His dad made a point that there were no side airbags and he very well could have been severely injured. This is usually the case with this sort of case. But I have thought from the beginning that this wreck looks completely survivable, although we can’t know for sure of course."On Friday, Jan. 8, authorities said the accident scene leads them to believe the driver was able to walk away from the crash with "little or no injury."
Approximately 900 feet south of the accident scene, a few articles of clothing and personal effects were discovered in the roadway, the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office said."

Well, the issue is how much. The tv station in Austin reported a "backpack filled with narcotics" family saying that isn't accurate. Some of use have been speculating that it was only a joint and the news station was sensationalizing but we don't know for sureSo... were their drugs in his backpack or not? Sorry if I missed the followup convo after his dad said Jason absolutely doesn't do drugs etc
Exactly! How do we know for sure that there wasn’t a second person in the car, someone whose phone wasn’t lost in the accident and able to call for a ride?
Yes, this is big. It changes my theory that he succumbed to his injuries and hasn't been found.Wow these new statements are big IMO. Especially the first one. “Little or no injury.” Hmmmmmmmm.
Also “the operator “ was able to walk away??? What the heck? This is new—they’re not sure at all it was Jason driving the car.
And his things were 900 feet back toward town in the road? Not 100 feet.
Sctatching head. These new statements change everything IMO. I’ve got to think about this....
I have zero inside info on this case or the accident. I do have experience with being involved in more than one car accident though and can tell you that the accident reports are rarely 100% accurate. LE are often dealing with insufficient time to fully document/verify the details, rushing because they’re near the end of shift, poor lighting, etc. For example, one of my accident reports stated that the road conditions were wet... there hadn’t been a drop of rain but the leaking fluids from my totaled vehicle did result in the road under the vehicle being wet so that’s how it got documented! When this first started they probably assumed that the operator would soon be found and didn’t know this would evolve into a multi week missing persons case. Just my opinion and two cents.Wow these new statements are big IMO. Especially the first one. Does anyone else find the word “operator” a little strange? They didn’t say Jason like they had before but operator?
You’d think it’d be easy to figure out which cell tower is closest and review all calls that went through it at the time of the accident.
If correct, we have a narrow time window to look at between the person that passed the site and saw no accident and the person that saw and reported it not long after.
Him leaving the area in a vehicle makes the most sense, and if his phone was in the car, there must have been someone else’s phone that called for a ride.... unless a random car was flagged down.

No one saw him but I do not think there is any reason to think he was not the operator. Also an accident investigator may have since determines the approximate speed etc to suggest that severe injuries were unlikely. I think the wording is simply careful and generic but all pertains to Jason.
I had to look closely at the newer picture it is very different!Or, perhaps LE was able to access his roommate or friends and they provided the picture. I agree and believe he was the operator of the vehicle that walked away with little, to no injuries. Sometimes LE means exactly what they say. IMO
Having said that, I’m not confident, unfortunately, saying that he’s okay right now because he was able to walk away from the accident. IMO

I’ve noticed how they often even on sites like NAMUS use a photo so old it would bear resemblance to the person when going missing - makes a sad thing even sadder to think they haven’t seen the person in a long time themselves before missing.IMO, loved ones of a missing person provide LE their favorite picture. And not pictures that accurately represent what the missing person looks like on a regular basis. Or even a recent pic.
