NG: reporting 1422 s/o's in the area. Joe Gomez - what did the phone call - no sex of caller - the person on the other side had an emergency. Why did they hang up? We do not have answers to that. Search is desperate and continuing. Jean says trying to find J - cases where they are all alive and found. J so excited to open his presents and couldn't contain himself. Michelle in FL, ques. Since stepfather was home, why didn't he escort J to babysitter with a coat? Wondering if there was domestic violence involved.

I have to say, if it is true he did in fact go for a video very close to where he was staying during the day, he should be old enough to do that at 12...just my opinion. But I don't think that is what really happened...

If it was only two doors down, I can see why he didn't have a coat on.

Can they trace call - to confirm where call came from. Sheryl says they can trace call. Now saying it was from the Grandmother. Did I hear that right??

I thought the person that called the Mom at work was a man... but maybe it was a woman with a raspy voice?

I thought it was a man also b/c on NG the Grandmother said "my daughter was at work and he called her at her job and said it was an emergency and then she got to the phone no one was there. The call came just before 2pm.

That really doesn't give the stepdad time to kill and hide his body though.

I think they were saying that the Grandmother reported that the call came from a man.

One of my best friends lives down in Texas near there and it was in the 70's that day but the forecasters were telling them they were in for a reality check. I was on the phone with her and I was telling about shoveling snow and wind chill and she was telling me about palm trees, sun and the wake up call to come - haha, still way above freezing but to them that is wicked cold!

If he left the babysitter at 1:15 and walked two doors down, he would be home no later than 1:20. Step dad says he last saw him at 1:45. Phone call came in at 2:00.

IMO, IF the stepdad did something, he would absolutely have time to do what he needed to do, take J to the woods at 43rd and TC Jester and get back in time to make a phone call.

However, 43rd and TC Jester is well traveled by car and by people jogging/running. There is a jogging trail that runs through there. There is also a skateboard park right there called Easy 7 that is pretty busy as well, even on Christmas Eve day.

Ugggggg - this is the part of a fast breaking story I hate. I have heard at least three different versions of that call on NG alone. I hope LE holds a Pressor soon.

I'm thinking this looks suspicious just like so many of the rest of you, however, there is a possibility that someone else was in the boy's apartment when he went to get the video? (This is assuming he was really going to get a video.) I wonder if folks lock their doors there? I can see how he could have walked in on a burglary -- especially right before Christmas -- a time when we're warned about locking doors due to thieves descending on presents under the tree. This theory doesn't explain the emergency phone call/hang-up call to Mom at work, however.

30 mins. to have a raspy woman "take" your child and head out of state. Or 30 mins. to dispose of a body. Each scenario is plausible.

I don't know of anyone who does not lock their doors.

I would like to know why NG show did not show the video of the Mom and Stepdad, If someone saw Johnathan and his Stepdad together then seeing the stepdad on TV might jog a memory, I understand showing the clip from the Grandma but I don't get why you don't show the clip of the Mom and Stepdad?

I hear ya, Blue Eyed Chick! I sure lock all of mine.

I do know though, from news reports, that unfortunately some people just don't.

Doesn't make sense to me, but I do know it happens. :seeya:

Saying a prayer for Jonathon.

One extra note regarding locking doors...

I reread my post and wanted to clarify that I was thinking about how neighborly some apartment complexes can be and if the babysitter lived right there perhaps there was a false sense of security.

Hope that makes more sense.

That area used to have a high population of prostitutes and/or homeless people. One of the houses right at the corner used to have signs in the yard asking people to not defecate in their bushes. (???)

Actually it might. A confused, scared 12 year old boy might hide in a closet or in a bathroom with the phone and call his Mom at work instead of 911 if he walked in on a burglary. Then that burglar may hear him and find him there.

We have seen other cases where a child in this age range woke up during a burglary and was murdered... then the body was removed and dumped elsewhere. So while you would generally not think someone would go to that much trouble, it does happen.

Heather Dawn Church being an example that comes to mind immediately.

However, if the stepdad was home then he didn't walk in on a burglary. He could have walked in on something else though...
