Burning flesh is awful. I worked at our local animal shelter from 14-18 and we had a crematorium in back. I will never forget that smell as long as i live. It didn't carry so much in the cold weather but with a breeze at all other times of the year.. it could be smelled for blocks. and Depending upon how often it was run you could still smell within quite a few feet 3 and 4 days later and it was cleaned out after every "run". Of course not cleaned with cleaners or anything the ashes and bone fragments were just swept out.

Way back in the 70s I was actually a receptionist in an ER. The very worst thing that ever came through that ER during the 3 years I was there were two people who had been working on a cold night in a ticket booth at a Drive-In (Outdoor) Theater and a little gas heater blew up and burned them severely. I can tell you that smell of burned flesh and hair is very, very strong, but I do believe if cleaned properly with disinfectants, the odor could be eliminated, at least in 4 days. But, not so sure if it was on carpet, etc. if it would go away that easily. Perhaps MN has had experience in cleaning up this type of thing. Could be she had thought this all out so methodically, she knew how to do the cleanup.

But why bother cleaning up only to leave all the other evidence as is?

Unless of course she couldn't handle the smell afterwards herself?

My hair did catch on fire as a child and it's an odor you don't forget. Just awful and I'm told burnt flesh is a lot worse.

Anyone who smokes and has long hair has smelled burning hair. For that matter, anyone who had their hair dryer too hot has probably smelled it too... but do burning hair and burning flesh smell the same??

I have never smelled decomposing human flesh but have smelled decomposing animal flesh. Is there a major difference or are they similar?

I have smelled animal carcass too even those who had been dead for a couple of days and laying out in the hot sun but the human flesh that is decomposing is somehow different........more thick and pungent. Once you smell it you never forget it. It is hard to explain. I think I have read before it is due to the diet of the human being that makes it worse.

I was in my 20s when I smelled the decomposing body of a man who had drowned. To this day and I am 64 years old, I can still smell that smell and gag at certain times.

To me there is nothing like a human body decomposing so one being burned would be worse too, imo.

I have a different take on a rape survivor being promiscuous and it and this is from a rape that I endured when I was 14....I held myself until I had a serious boyfriend after age 18 but once that happened I found it hard to tell any man no, When I was older I finally had a light bulb moment, it was easier to say yes and feel like a sl** the next day then to say no and feel like a victim once again...So that again is just my take on that part of it.

With MN she was with a man, married one, had children, then according to her MP and FB there are big clues that she is gay. This told me something happened to her because if she was born gay, I just don't see her having that many kids before she came out. We don't know that, but I thought the simple fact that she mentioned her FIL as being arrested told me her mind was thinking about abuse. Maybe her unselfconsciousness about it was showing. Something like that.

I've seen several stating that it was this Christmas 2010{the one last week..lol}that Mona spent with her sister.. but the article that I read had Mona's sister quoted as saying "Mona spent Christmas 2009 with her"..don't have the link but I 100% positive that it was in the original/first article breaking the news of Quannel X having spoken with Mona and Mona giving "her side" of the story{where IMO she was "attempting" to show the public that she was capable of "feeling", unlike what detectives had stated in the PC the day before..indicating that Mona was a cold, soul-less monster with no remorse}..it was that article where Mona's sister is quoted as saying that "Mona spent Christmas 2009 with her{sister}"..

I have a good friend who had SIX kids before she divorced, got her kids grown then discovered she was gay and has been happily married to her wife for 8 years now. It can happen. LOL Don't know how common it is though as being gay is stupidly, still kinda taboo around here.

Good point. Didn't her sister say in that news clip that Mona had stayed with her for 4 days starting on Christmas? Maybe the smell was why.

Hi angela! thanks for posting this above article..it touches on some of the issues I posted about earlier when speaking of "the perfect storm" {i.e. specific circumstances, abuses, genetics, actions/reactions, choices, etc that when ALL OR A GREAT MANY OF THESE SPECIFIC ISSUES ARE PRESENT IN AN INDIVIDUALS UPBRINGING AND LIFETIME THAT IT CREATES THIS "PERFECT STORM" CREATING DISASTEROUS OUTCOMES FOR THIS INDIVIDUAL AND THEIR VICTIMS..of course that is all just in my opinion only..but I do feel that there is some validity to what I'm thinking and this article directly touches on a couple of those "specific issues" that I find are present in individuals such as MN...

am curious as to where exactly you found this info and am interested to see any other similar info/studies about these "specific issues"{which BTW in my opinion alot of these "specific issues" are still quite taboo to even discuss..thus there seems to be very little info/data discussing such taboo subjects}...but its also my opinion that until we start figuring out, understanding the origination of the "perfect storm", until that is done these monsters will only continue to be "in the making" and becoming more and more prevelant<-very scary&terrifying thought..and you'd think that because of that you'd have more being done to study, learn, and be proactive in "nipping in the bud"{for lack of a better term}these "perfect storms" in the making... does that make sense? I hope I'm explaining atleast somewhat in a way that is understood??

So, if you know of any other articles, info, data similar in nature would you point me in that direction? TIA

I recently was certified in Trauma Counseling and this kind of issue was discussed at length. Most serial killers experienced some kind of horrible trauma in their own lives, usually as children. And becoming a perp can be a way for them to try and master their trauma. And various stressors later in life can trigger this kind of behavior. And whoever said that there would be a lot more horrible crime committed if this kind of past were the key. And that is not an adequate way to look at things. Many people who have suffered horrible abuse have inner resilience and are able to move on and lead a normal life. The ones who do not have that inner resilience and do not learn proper coping techniques can be at risk for becoming perps.

I am more than happy to share more data.

I have not been following this case to date, but now that Iam in this forum let's watch the issue about being gay. I do not think there is an evidence of this and/or the relevance at this time.
If it becomes a central issue or an integral part of this case, of course it will be open for discussion.
In the mean time, the few references to it are fine, but please don't let it become the topic of discussion in here. Otherwise we have to do all that editing and it makes the mods cranky.

• 8:20AM – AD left for work. She was due to work until 2:00PM. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• Morning/Time? – SE left for work.

On Friday morning, both AD and SE had to work, and Jonathan was going to stay home alone until his mom could make it home, around 1 or 2 p.m. They said they left Jonathan with specific instructions: He was not to leave the house, which is nestled next to an apartment complex on Oak Street in northwest Houston. If he had any problems, he should run next door and tell his neighbor. (Ref Houston Chronicle)

• 12:30PM – Witnesses reported seeing Nelson talking to JF around 12:30 p.m. (Later that evening, MN told AD she had come to the house that morning looking for SE, and that Jonathan had answered the door wearing no shirt, and it seemed like someone was in the house with him.)
• 1:45PM – DD told investigators JF was at home playing video games when he went to check on the boy at 1:45PM.
• 1:45PM – 2:10PM - "Sometime between 1:45 and 2:10 p.m., the mother receives a phone call, makes a phone call, and speaks to what she believes is a female with a gruff voice and hears her son's voice in the background," Detective Fil Waters said. "The phone is suddenly hung up." (Ref Click 2 Houston)
• 2:00PM – Jonathan places phone call to his mother’s place of work. JF speaks to a co-worker, asks her a couple of questions. The mother finds out about it, gets a little concerned, it’s about time for her to go home. She calls the house and speaks to the woman with the raspy voice. She gets disconnected and immediately goes home. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• Time? - Prior to AD’s arrival home, she had received a mysterious phone call from her residence from a female, who made threatening remarks towards her son. Also, witness observed a female arriving at the residence in a grey or silver pickup about the same time that those threatening calls were made. (Ref Probably Cause Hearing)
• Time? – AD arrived home from work. When she opened the door moments later, cartoons were still on the TV, and a game was up on the computer screen. A can of Tootsie rolls sat on the computer desk. "I hollered, 'Jonathan, mama's home! Where are you?'" There was no answer. "The only thing missing in this house is his tan T-shirt with a guitar on it, a pair of jeans, his white sneakers and his black stuffed cat that my grandmother made him," Davis said. "There was no struggle." (Ref Houston Chronicle) There was also a portable or cordless phone missing from the house.
• Time? – AD looks around the area for JF and called some people.
• 3:45PM – AD notified police. Unit was dispatched. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• 5:30PM – Sunset in Houston.
• 6:00PM – Surveillance video (not viewed until December 28) showed a silver Ford F-150 truck pull up to a ditch outside of a building at about 1500 Schilder at East Hardy. A person could be seen getting out of the truck, taking a body out of the bed of the truck and placing it in the ditch. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• Time? / Night – MN stopped by the house owned by SE. MN told AD she had come to the house that morning looking for SE, and that Jonathan had answered the door wearing no shirt, and it seemed like someone was in the house with him. (Ref Houston Chronicle)
• 9:30PM – Officers entered details about JF into the National Crime Information Center Database. The case was filed as a missing juvenile. It wasn’t ruled an abduction until Monday, when an Amber Alert was issued.

December 27 (Monday)

• Homicide took over the investigation. (Ref LE at press conference)
• Amber Alert was issued.
• Texas Equusearch started search.

December 28 (Tuesday)

• 10:00AM - A passing motorist spotted what looked like a body in the ditch at about 1500 Schilder at East Hardy (Note: locations is about 5 miles, 15 minutes from home where JF went missing). Patrol units responded and found that it was in fact a body in the ditch. Detectives went to the scene. When they got there they noticed that the body was completely burned but it appeared to be a child. The detectives that responded to the scene determined that it may be related to the missing boy just from the size of the body. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• On scene investigation began. Police reviewed video from security cameras from a business nearby (Rolled Alloys). (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• Surveillance video showed that about 6PM on December 24, a silver Ford F-150 truck pull up to a ditch outside of a building at about 1500 Schilder at East Hardy. A person could be seen getting out of the truck, taking a body out of the bed of the truck and placing it in the ditch. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• Homicide investigators were contacted and were sent pictures from the surveillance video. They noted that MN’s truck was similar. MN’s residence (8800 block of Allwood Street, Houston) and vehicle was searched and evidence was found. MN’s apartment is about 7 miles, 20 minute drive from Oak Street, and is about 4 miles, 10 minute drive to 1500 Schilder at East Hardy (where JF’s body was found).
• Early Afternoon - Houston police towed away a 1990’s model tan colored Mercedes Benz registered to DD, from his home. (Ref MyFoxHouston and ABC Local)

December 29 (Wednesday)

• Video shows MN leaving her apartment (8800 block of Allwood Street, Houston) with detectives. (Ref KHOU)
• A neighbor of MN said she thought the home and garage apartments were vacant. Another said MN lived in a rear apartment but "kept to herself." (Ref Houston Chronicle)
• Investigators found burned carpet at MN’s apartment, twine that appeared to match the string used to bind Jonathan's hands, and a stun-gun in the glove compartment of MN’s truck. (Ref Houston Chronicle)
• JF’s was identified by his dental records. (Ref LE at Press Conference)
• MN charged with capital murder in the slaying of Jonathan. (Ref LE at Press Conference)

December 30 (Thursday)

• Probable cause hearing for MN held. MN did not appear due to medical reasons.

Oh no, no need to be sorry. I couldn't remember if they had announced it yet or not. I too think it will be a death penalty case. Maybe the DA is waiting for autopsy and evidence testing to be completed first.
