So, the last time anyone physically saw or spoke to Joe was when he dropped John off at the airport?

As far as we know unless his neighbors saw him when he went back to Seymour. Waiting to hear on that...we had conflicting stories on the supposedly pick up...I believe that has been cleared up.

Who was the last person to see him and/or speak to him other than John?

The last person we know of is his mom! Hopefully his family will get more info today as they are with LE in tx

I cant believe they are not doing any ground searches by the truck...he either walked out of there (if he was driving) or someone drive him out of there , or he is still close or within walking distance.

I live in Taylor County. LE is normally not uncooperative. Something is not quite right here and I'm not sure what it is. I hope Joe is found soon.

I am about to travel that road and I will see what activity I see going on at the present.

Just a little update via joes mom, via joes family.....they met with the sheriff dept this am and the sheriff didn't know anything about this case.....they were very apologetic and said they were getting right on it. An investigator was put on it and they sent an officer to go get the car and take it into evidence to be printed and etc. They couldn't believe they had not gotten the case!

His family was going there so you might see them!???

Wow..thank you for the update.

So which jurisdiction dropped the ball?

Maybe someone who knows more about it can provide info about how to organize a volunteer search. I believe will prove challenging for this family since they don't live in Texas. But maybe some locals could pitch in and, using some of the WS resources, help with organizing it. Also, it is hot in Texas, and I know this site's members have, on rare occasion, helped out with donations of water. I really don't know if we have any mods reading along now, and I'm not sure who to contact. But I see a real need for help for this family.

I just drove this highway this evening. This is a very busy highway for this area. It is not busy as in Dallas/Ft. Worth busy, but for rural Texas, it is a busy highway. Not uncommon for more than 2-3 vehicles at the same time to be traveling together. If Joseph was having difficulty, I feel sure someone would have seen him or he could have flagged someone down very quickly.

I would be certain a car would have passed by his vehicle within a few minutes of him going off the road (if he was the person driving the car) and rendered aid.

This is what makes me think he was not driving his vehicle.

Have you asked the Sheriff if he would let Texas Equaasearch come search for Joseph?

If he made it back to Seymour, and then his phone supposedly made Lubbock and Smyer and then towads San Angelo/Abilene route he could be anywhere in between.
If his wallet and cash were still in the vehicle, he was not robbed IMO. Has the family been able to track his phone themselves? Obviously LE has not.

I also want to know from nannymo, who is "our" expert...nanny how far is this from where Brandon disappeared and from where the military guy was supposedly put on a bus to where Joe's vehicle was found? Does the family know yet how much fuel was in the tank? Where was the truck taken? I know this is a different county correct?
IT seems Route 277 is becoming, ummm, hazardous?

I'm going along the line he is NOT anywhere near his truck was found..IMOO
This has a lot of shades of Brandon's case and just breaks my heart

OMG, seriously? That is infuriating. Dont get me wrong, I love our men in blue and am supportive of our cops but that is just really rediculous. Praying for Joe and his family.

LOL Spirit-this makes me not want to drive that route anymore at all!

Actually, Joseph's car would be about 45 miles from where Brandon went missing. I don't think we know what time of day Joseph went missing at this point, but his family may know more after this weekend. The military guy is CO - Mason Van Kuiken, 22, Ft. Carson, 17 March 2013. He went missing from San Angelo greyhound bus station which is another 40 miles further south. Then you have Clay Rodman who was living at the Salvation Army in Abilene, was arrested for being drunk in public and went missing when he was released from jail in May 2013. What do these men have in common?

Clay and Brandon are both big guys. It would have been difficult for one person to take them down without a pretty good fight.
Mason was military so I would imagine he was in pretty good shape too. He wasn't a big guy, but I would guess in good physical shape.
Joseph looks to be in pretty good condition. No medical conditions.

Clay, Brandon and Mason had all three been recently arrested. Clay and Mason within days of their disappearances and Brandon's within months.
We don't know about any arrests for Joseph.

Clay did not have a car (I don't think???) Brandon's ran out of gas, Mason's was used for bail and Joseph's was found running.

Clay had a problem with alcohol, Brandon had a problem with drugs, Mason had PTSD(possibly) and we don't think Joseph had any known problems.

All 4 disappeared without a trace. No clues, nothing, zilch, nada, zero.....

Are they connected????? I really do not think so, but who knows?

It sure doesn't seem like anyone is looking for them tho.....:(

Is there a search planned today? Any more information from the family? I am local and can help if needed.

Have be not heard from them today and I don't know if there is a search today! Since you live in the area do you know where a person would go to hog hunt? We are getting info he went hog hunting!?

  • #178
I too have great respect for the law and pray this dept of LE is going to help find Joe!

  • #179
You can hog hunt anywhere in rural Texas. Wild hogs are very prevelent and are usually hunted on private property.

There is also a very large wind farm south of Abilene on Highway 277. It used to be the largest in the world but that is no longer true. I would assume his employer would have known if he was doing anything associated with any of those particular wind turbine companies? Or could he possibly know someone who worked for one of those companies and was on the way to them? That would have been the road to take to get there if he was heading to the wind farms south of Abilene.
