Has the exact address been released somewhere? Really would like to narrow this down on the map, at that age it's going to make a difference.

this is the address I have from MSM articles

2600 block of Savanah Hill Circle, New Braunfels

Why the disconnect between the mom and LE?

That confuses me.

MOO

Mel

She believes someone who was at the family's mobile home Friday night, and possibly the last one to see the child inside the home, is responsible. She was critical of what she termed the police's refusal to investigate her claim.

“We have nothing that would indicate he was abducted or taken away by someone,” Penshorn said. “We are proceeding on the idea that the child wandered off by himself.”

I could be totally wrong here, but I'm not feeling an abduction. At this point I'm hoping I'm wrong, because an abduction would mean he could still be alive, which I fear is not the case if he just wandered off. Again, it's always a possibility and this is where volunteers could be soooo useful. Cases like this should be worked both ways at the same time. Flyers should be going out and up to the very long list of places (http://www.4themissing.net/uploads/5/8/7/1/5871085/flyer_distribution.pdf)
and anywhere else that might pertain to the area. This should be going on from the get go as now we are going on to the 4th day and if it was an abduction they could now be across the country.

Sarx,
I noticed the Heidi Search Center and Travis County Search and Rescue units where out there maybe that can help determine the type of dog and the training of the personal. I will see what I can find realy fast.

Bing has good Bird's Eye pictures of the street, go to: http://www.bing.com/maps/ and type in "Savannah Hill Circle, New Braunfels, TX". Then switch to Bird's Eye view and zoom in. Use the compass arrows to look in all directions. Click the « near the upper left of the picture to get a wider picture.

Like most aerial photos, these are not updated frequently. These are taken from low-flying airplanes, so there may be several years between updates.

sarx, now, I don't know what to think. TCSAR was out there Saturday with the SAR dogs, and perhaps Sunday with cadaver dogs, unless they were provided by some other entity, and nothing. Not a peep from LE as to what the dogs may have hit on or not. Seems like they'd report picking up a trail if there was one to be found, so I don't know.

It's beginning to look like this baby was either abducted or the parents' story is just that, a story.

Thanks for that justthinkin. I am beat, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when I look at their site (which I did earlier when I saw that article as well) I do not see any trailing dogs, only airscent and at that, only one who has been certified by NASAR. So, if these were the dogs they were using, then it's possible that the reason they didn't find the child is because the child wasn't in the grid they were searching. Remember, airscent dogs are going to find anyone in their given area. They're not looking for a particular person, just a person. So, with that it still looks like they had no SAR trailing dogs brought in. Again, thanks for the link.

According to an article in the Austin American Statesman,
Travis County Search and Rescue participated in Saturday's search. Since cadaver dogs were used Sunday, I'm guessing they might have also been provided by TCSAR.

That's the group that found the son of one of my friends....bittersweet memories. :(

I don't know WHAT the exact address is. But, if you put in 2515 Savannah Hill Circle into google maps it takes you straight to the house, on your right. The one with the funky tree and the sign in the yard.

In this video it shows the house not far into it.

I'm sure you can determine how accurate that address is, far better than I could.

I hope so too. He reminds me of my son, butfor the life I'd
Me I cannot relate how a child with no known issued at 18 months can just run off. My son is almost 10 months. I watch him like a hawk. This is either a case of foul play of parents not watching their kids.

I have two children, and I assure you I am one of the most over-protective parents God placed on this earth. They are both older now, and in their teens, and I am still as protective as I ever was.
Yet, in having two completely different child, I can tell you that even the most watchful set of parents, and even other family members, have had a child disappear on them. If only for five heart-pounding moments in a shopping mall, or at an older siblings little league game....or in the case of that small percentage of impish boys (and girls!) who are full of that precious zeal for exploration and life..without being tempered at all by fear (probably even LESS fearful because they have always had the parents who watched them "like a hawk" and therefore think the world is a safe and groovy place.

When my son was 20 months old, my husband was in basic training. He joined the army at the advanced age of 30 because of 9-11 and swept up in patriotic fervor. Fervor is nice, but we were older, with two children, and I didn't know how to fix the one toilet in my house, my impish urchin had stuffed with toilet paper.

He spent some time watching me, as I struggled with the overflowed toilet. He wandered off then. It was time for the teletubbies, and he left the same time as I could hear the theme song in the background. My four year old was dancing next to me, 'cause as she informed me, hopping from one foot to another, "she really really had to go" We were in our own home. The living room and television were almost within view of where I was, crouched next to the toilet, trying to figure out the plunger and get the toilet working before I ended up having to mop floors too..cursing my husband for being gone ;)

To keep a long story from getting longer...by the time I had repaired the toilet, my daughter had to be changed. All of this drama took about 15 minutes. When I came out to the living room, my tow-head bruiser of a boy was gone. In October. In a diaper and t-shirt, nothing else, and it was COLD out, with the front door wide open.

I'll spare you the screaming and the running up and down the street. The gathering of neighbors, and the calling of the police (who were called within the first five minutes when I realized he wasn't in the yard, or within sight) The police took about ten minutes, we were in a small ocean community in Alabama..but we did live by a major road. I was frantic with worry. He wasn't anywhere.

It took 45 minutes before we found him. The police didn't find him, a 12 year old neighbor boy found him. He had walked behind our house...and down the block, but not on the road, through the backyards until he had found a house with a very nice playset out back, about 4 blocks away. I have no doubt he wouldn;t have walked until he dropped if he hadn't been distracted...not knowing how to return.

My point of this way too long story is that even vigilant loving parents must drop their guard occasionally. It's terrible, and most of the time it turns into a story about how mom got a few white hairs, but occasionally it's tragic. Skimming through Charley Project can uncover sheathes of them. A mom answering a phone call, a child disappearing from an aisle at Sears, a child disappears when they lag behind pouting...

I don't know if there was foul play in this terrible, heart-rending case. I don't know if this maybe a way to cover up abuse, or neglect. God knows, I've grown so cynical about parents, and people since I began to read all of these cases. Yet, the fact that a child escaped out of the house isn't far-fetched, and I can't throw any stones at this mother until all the facts are out, especially the first stone. There by the grace of god goes any mother of any rambunctious, reckless, beautiful toddler :(

More on the dogs:

Scent sniffing dogs were brought over the weekend and those dogs have been replaced with cadaver dogs.

http://www.ksat.com/news/26770044/detail.html

At a press conference this afternoon New Braunfels Police Lieutenant Michael Penshorn brought us up to date on the search effort, which includes personnel from the Alamo Area Search and Rescue, Travis County Search and Rescue and Search Dog Rescue from College Station.

That meant replacing more than 100 human volunteers with specialized K-9 teams that focus on sniffing out cadavers.

According to The Herald-Zeitung, police and bloodhounds will continue to search for the little boy throughout the night.

Today, police have asked volunteers to stay at home, to make room for specialized K-9 search teams that need more space and less people in order to catch the scent of the boy.

That last statement says to me they're using dogs still for area search.

Either way though, volunteers could still be used to work areas that are away from the dogs.

Going to see what I can find on the other groups that are involved. For those that are also looking, trying to find info on scent specific and trailing dogs as well as their certifications. TIA if you find anything!

  • #234
Looks like Alamo has a couple of FEMA dogs that can be used in recovery work, that's good. No cert. trailing k9s that I see. Onto the next.

So, you type in 2515 Savannah Hill Circle to get to the house on google maps....

But if you to this realty site... it is 2618 or 2619 Savannah Hill Circle...

http://www.realtor.com/property-det...ir_New-Braunfels_TX_78130_8d4d8e04?source=web

See, this is why I get lost constantly. It is not MY fault, it's the maps and GPS that have the issues. :innocent:

Good luck SARX, I have NO idea...

Oh... and Savannah Hill Circle.... NOT a CIRCLE. It's a street. A straight line. Why do we call it a circle? Why not just "street" or "road" or "avenue"... these things drive me nuts.

FYI the searching with bloodhounds thru the night comment was in regards to last night (sat.).
Not sure where they are tonight.
From what I can tell they're clearing large open areas using area search dogs and areas using HRD dogs (a much slower job), still not seeing any trailing SAR dogs in the picture and really wondering why. None of the agencies listed have them, so that could be part of the problem. There seems to be a common theme in TX of using the DOJ bloodhounds and I'm starting to wonder if that's why we're not seeing trailing dogs in each group.

  • #237
I think they like "circle" better than "court" (which it does dead end into a court), but I really don't know, and I agree with you!

  • #238
Hoping tomorrow morning we will have some more information. Checking out for the night. G'night all.

thanks again, sarx for helping us understand what's going on....TTYL!

False hope and sadness: Missing 18-month-old toddler remains missing

On Sunday, a mother and father prepare to go to bed with their toddler missing for a third straight night.

It was an emotional day for the parents of Joshua Davis Jr. First, authorities reported that their missing son might be dead. Then rumors surfaced that claimed the boy was found. However, this news ended up being false.

[snip]

“As a response to that, we did bring in additional K9 search teams particularly ones that were specifically looking at cadaver dogs that search for a deceased person,” New Braunfels Police Lt. Michael Penshorn said.

Later that day, the family rushed to police headquarters after receiving word that someone posted a message on Facebook indicating someone found Davis. The message falsely reported Davis was found alive and doing well in a trailer about 10-miles away from his home on Hunter Road.

[snip]

Police are trying to track down the person responsible for posting the false Facebook messages. In the mean time the search for baby Joshua continues.
