Lt. Michael Penshorn, with the New Braunfels Police Department, said they are taking a closer look at some of the facts in this case and are certain they will find out what happened to the toddler.
Friday marks one week that the boy disappeared from his home and an extensive search of the home and surrounding areas have been unsuccessful in finding him.
Police said they are interviewing people multiple times and are also combing a wider and larger area with search dogs to try to gather more clues.
"We've been investigating this from the very beginning," Penshorn said. "We do believe that something in or around this residence led to this child's disappearance and that's what we're trying to find out: what exactly happened."

This could indicate that LE is taking into consideration the time of disappearance reported to them by the family might not be accurate.

I aint buying this now for some reason!

If a toddler is able to get a door open and toddle out he surly is not going to close it tight behind him as he meanders down the icy steps!

That's another good point. Even if he had opened the door and gone out with no one noticing, are we to believe he also quietly closed the door behind him?

Front door: has two doors, screen (storm?) and regular door. Only one of those doors didn't latch well (screen). The regular door did. (That's what I got from what the mom said).

Does that mean the dogs hit on Joshua's scent? OR is the officer using the term hit instead of saying we took the dogs over there to look? :waitasec:

Profiler: ten minutes is not that long of a time. Not sure why mom says she freaks out so quickly...

Babies that age have a good cry on them-- if he went out into the cold on his own accord, I believe he would have cried for help. mo

Lie detector specialist: Pregnant women and polys... most agencies won't poly after 1st trimester b/c:

1: stressful no matter if guilty or not
2: physiologically: looking for physiological changes and with fetus moving around, etc, not sure as an examiner if reactions are valid or movement of baby

ETA: NG: only person in that house not submitting to poly is 'mommy'

NG says mom seemed very genuine when she talked to her...asked polygraph expert if a pregnant woman can take poly...expert saying policy not to give polys after 1st trimester....with fetus moving around & movements accompanying pregnancy, not sure if reactions are because fetus moving or poly. (I paraphrased that because he was talking fast).

I think this and many other cases recently, point out that EVERYONE in our country need to be educated on the proper resources to handle cases like this. Imagine, friday night, hours after Joshua goes missing, bring in PROPER SAR dogs, and them NOT finding a trail??? Resources would have been moved much faster to look into other possibilities. I know NOTHING is flawless, and we are all just people, and dogs, but it seems like things would be different.... KWIM?? Or am I just naive to think there is a way to prevent things like this??? :innocent::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I definitely don't understand the dogs not finding Joshua's scent around the house or maybe I should say leading away from the house.

How can that happen?

Woodrow Tripp: don't polygraph pregnant women. Not recommended by industry standard. As a policy and as a rule. Would have to be dire circumstances. Maybe in 1st trimester. But generally, no.

I want to know why she thinks that the "family friend" could have taken him? How can you consider a person who may have taken your child a family friend?
