"What is a Vin number?"

VIN = Vehicle Identification Number. Every motor vehicle to include car, truck and motorcycle has one.

Absolutely! And here's some other info - 17 digit VINs became mandatory in 1981. Prior to that there was no uniformity in number or organization of characters - it was up to the individual manufacturer. However, the VIN was part of the vehicle registration, regardless of how many digits.

I'm not sure but you can see the outline of some of the cars from aerial views of lake worth,
so I would assume its reachable?

Does Equusearch have divers? Would they be willing to look? Or do they have to be called in by me?

Where is the information coming from that they think the strangulations were committed by the same perp, who is in jail? I didn't see anything about that on the cold case page that you linked.

I cant remember the guys name but do some googling and you will see that they had a suspect , I'm at work or I would ....I was fascinated by the case and one of my friends who grew up there and is an attorney told me he thought they didn't want to waste any effort since the guy was in jail already trying to prosecute him for all of them , he got LWOP anyhow ....

I did some googling but still couldn't tell what suspect you're referring to. A man named William Ted Wilhoit is a suspect in the strangulation murder of Carla Walker, but he doesn't appear to be a murder suspect in any other cases (and he isn't in prison).

I would think just going down and getting the VIN # would be more helpful.
In this case, since their car was left behind at the mall, it would be impossible to know what VIN to look for.
But it is amazing how many people are found in their car, years later, without even any foul play.

Exactly...reading over old cases where it says person and vehicle were never seen again makes it seem that water was involved or in some cases the vehicle was burned/destroyed illegally

It seems fairly certain that Rachel didn't write that letter. So, the question is, if this were a random abduction why bother writing a letter in the first place? A rogue security guard or totally random passerby who noticed the girls wouldn't know who to write in the first place, let alone even care to...only someone trying to buy time would write a letter.

Possibly to taunt the family? Serial killers have been known to do things like that. I'm not in the "TT did it" camp, but I can't rule out the possibility of his involvement.

Dean Corll had some of his victims write or call home to buy time and throw off suspicion. When the families called to report their boys missing, and they told them the boy wrote or called, LE chalked it up to them being runaways and didn't pursue it. That worked for Corll, and it allowed him to continue his predation. He died in 1973, in TX, so it's possible whoever harmed these three took a page from his playbook, as I'm sure it was big news.
There are also a handful of missing women from Australia in the early 70s who also wrote home to tell their families they were visiting friends and not to worry, and were never seen again.

It's interesting you brought up Coril. I just stumbled across this story via BuzzFeed and stopped on the name Trlica. My (now ex) friend just recently got married to a Trlica. I was maid of honor.

His dads name is Tommy and his moms name is Linda. Yeah. Same Trlicas. And I will tell you. The grooms parents are shady AF.

Let's get creepier.

I know two beautiful young women that I have babysat since they were 3 and 4 ad well as their brother who was 6. They're all in their 20s now. Their dad, also a Tommy, was a single dad I met through church and helped him out. He was a mess and nearly ruined those kids lives. Thanks to several stable women helping all them, the kids are all ok. He however is homeless and living on the streets in Houston (at last count via his daughter about 8 months ago.)

During my friendship with him I was unfortunate enough to meet his brother Stacy who could only be described as weird AF. Married to a woman weird AF with two weird kids. And I'll leave it at that. None the less I try not to judge and remained always as helpful and kind as I could be to Tommy and Stacy.

So one day, similar to today, I run across the story of Dean Coril and begin reading until a name catches my eye. Betty Hawkins.
Oh hey, that's Tommy and Stacys moms name.

Oh, in Houston too....

Yeah. Apparently Dean was living with Betty and the boys when they were little while he was doing awful things to the teen boys. I don't even want to think about what might have happened to Tommy and Stacy when they were little and may be the reason they're both well... not ok.

Anyway. What a weird 🤬🤬🤬 day for me. June 28th. The day after Tommy Trlicas 65th bday who lives just a few miles from me here in Galveston.
