Not many people go around in public discussing who worked on their cars. The only expectation might be if someone has a problem and asks "Have you ever had such and such happen? Where did you take your car?"
I certainly don't know where any of my neighbors take their cars for service.
I don't think those statements, as absolute as they appear, can be used to judge the success, or lack of success, of the business.
I think it depends on where you live. I know where many of my friends, family, and neighbors have their automotive work done, and they're all different (but I can still give you business names, reputations). Same with doctors, dentists, restaurants, etc. At least where I live, people do discuss those things openly.

Things were considerably different 40-50 years ago. Rotary (or maybe touch-tone) telephones, typewriters, and so on; with no Internet, or for that matter, personal computers/devices. Word of mouth was much more important and prevalent then. In some cases, at least, for the better.

TT claimed in that Brazillian podcast (IIRC), that Rachel took him to work on the 23rd. The only way I can place him at work that day, making/receiving that supposed "fateful phone call", etc, is if she did. Then I can picture him taking a tow truck or service truck from the shop to the Mall to intercept, meet her, abduct, etc.
However, for this theory to work
1. Rachel  does have to take him to work that morning.
2. TT has to be alone at the shop (everyone else has the day off), working/piddling, because  he wants to be alone, maybe to think (he recently had that alleged fight at the bowling alley, 1-2 nights prior--depending on the source).
3. He has to call home or receive a call, prompting him to leave the shop, go to the Mall.
4. Said truck has to be available at the shop for him to drive to the Mall.
Again, this is the only way I can place TT at work that day, for events to unfold, as many folks believe they did.
I'm still not sold on the "transmission fluid barrels" theory for the girls' demise, but that's another post...

At this point (correct me if I'm wrong), the two most likely  possibilities for what happened to the girls are
1. They were met, taken from the Mall by TT, killed/disposed of elsewhere.
2. They were met/abducted from the Mall by DeBardeleben or ( ? ), and killed/disposed of.

Someone at the shop without a personal car could still have transportation. Any customer’s car could be driven. The reasonable excuse to the customer would be we had to road test your car (as part or the diagnosis or to verify repairs).

And that's the way they did it back then before all the diagnostics.

Another thing to keep in mind is we can't be for sure where DA was. She really has no one to verify her alibi.

I would change to someone they trusted. Could a been any relative or friend.

True, but said car couldn't become a crime scene. That wouldn't work.

A relative or friend abducted and murdered them? Are you working on the assumption that they left with someone who meant no harm, and something bad happened after that?

Yep BUT relative or friend still includes TT.

That part about diagnostics brought back memories...
As for DA's alibi, you're right-- we can't be sure. But hers has been the most consistent (and reasonable) alibi, IMO.
But to be fair, let's suppose DA decided to meet them at the Mall a bit later. Rachel left Minot sometime between 10:00-12:00 (sources vary). That puts ST at Minot,(supposedly) picking up her son when nobody would be there. That  really doesn't work.

So, does this train of thought include the idea that what started out as "we need to talk" escalated into the "point of no return"?

Bit of a drive, for a car that could break down, but...ok.

So, you're focusing on "how they were coaxed off-campus", more than "who did the coaxing"?

Possibilities, sure. "most likely", not willing to go nearly that far. Way too many unknowns where this case is concerned.

They could of left with anybody they knew IMO. That's an awful LOT of People.

There are "way too many unknowns". I had hoped we could eliminate some of them....

Earlier in websleuths TT's verified insider said CA took him to work on the 23rd.
