I have no idea Fort Worth was a Big city. I just know the one DA married into did most of the Big Companies lie detectors to get a job like Kroger. I took one at that company to get a job at Kroger in the 60's.

There’s a reason polygraphs aren’t allowed in court. Taking, passing, and failing these tests are given way too much weight for something that is mostly fake science.

Makes you wonder why employers use them.

1. Cause they can use not only polygraphs but also that still strong common misconception that these things are able to tell if someone lies, tries to cheat or is honest.
2. Results may be faulible, but intimidation is real.
3. Some questions you can't really ask on a job interview, it may be problematic to the very least, but if asked during the polygraph its possible to not risk any issues cause oh, they were only test questions, it had nothing to do with the job interview.
4. Employers don't need to get even close to reliable numbers (so like 98% of accuracy), bit over 50 is still tempting.
5. Cause it's a huge business and those involved in it didn't wish to go down in silence as interest from LE started dropping, so they advertised the tool to the other group of customers.

But as for the 70's knowledge, if cops straight away, during just very basic questioning of people close to Rachel learned that:
- husband says that he went to and back from work with the MP's father,
- MP's mother says that she was at work with the MP's husband,
- MP's sister says that their father absolutely couldn't drive,
- MP-parent's neighbour says that their car never left the driveway and MP's mother was home all day,
- husband has a magic baby with his ex that seems to randomly show at different locations within two cities during the day and nobody can tell for sure where and at who's care at what times of the day that kid was during the 23rd,
- MP's father doesn't say anything,
- husband's ex claims to met all the girls at their home at the time when they were expected to be at the mall,
- friend of Renee's boyfriend saw them at the mall, was seen at the mall, but at the end wasn't sure when exactly that was
they should polygraph them all, thoroughly. ALL, including the neighbour, bowling league buddies and ex-wife's family.

He said very little, which says a lot (IMO). I still wonder if he wasn't somewhat forced to somehow help TT. As in, "I just killed your daughter (accidentally, or otherwise), and I need your help". Or, "you  gotta help me-- this affects you, too."

Polygraph or no polygraph, it would be an interview with detailed description (not just notes) and that could help a lot cause they'd just have to ask some more questions and they will have clear statements from everyone and this investigation wouldn't be where it is now.

I would go for the second option as being far more likely IMO.

I don't think CA killed the girls and I am not entirely sold on him being involved in the cover up either, (I tend to go with the DJ ex boyfriend being more likely), but I would like to more about CAs whereabouts on that day.

The idea that multiple lie detector companies existed in Fort Worth is probably false.
The original story could have been she married into a family that sold lie detectors. They were one of the largest venders and located in Fort Worth.
Over time the story could have been misconstrued to make it appear there are several competing companies in Fort Worth when there were not.
Like so many other items surrounding this case, this whole idea is a distraction.

IF the stories are true that both girls wanted out of the Arnold home because they were being abused in some form there, then as beubeubeu says, you can understand her desperately looking for a means to prevent her having to return to the home.

To me there is nothing closer than family and the A family was very close. According to DA's daughter DA is bringing dancers to the shop for CA to have sex with now that's close.

If CA was so abusive, and if DA wanted out of her parents' house so badly,  why would she bring extracurricular sex to her dad's workplace, and  why would she  move back in with her parents after the girls went missing ( if she did)?
And yet, on thread 5, pg 46  Goldenlancehead mentions "who got booted out of their apartment for nonpayment of rent, yet still had a job?" Was this why she moved in with Rachel and TT?
Also, on an earlier thread, in discussion about where the girls could've gone that day, it was mentioned maybe the girls were going to check out (DA's) new place.

I'm starting to feel weird ending up as some sort of tireless defended of DA, but it's just cause such a troubled soul (let's call it that) as opinions about her seem to paint a picture of; is, IMO as likely to be involved in a terrible crime (with whatever reasons, unknown to me), as to end up turned into a scapegoat.

Cause it would look absolutely horrendous in everybody's eyes if she'd kept living alone with TT. People would talk and they would talk a lot even if she had pristine reputation prior to the disappearance.
She may not care about her reputation, especially if innocent (cause logically it'd make much more sense to have two people there, so someone could be always by the phone in case that Rachel will call), but I can see her doing that for the sake of her mother and/or brother, to support them, or ending up convinced that they desperately need her ther... just to realize pretty darn fast that terrible home is still terrible home and she has to get out of there asap.

I'd even say that's a cliche with abuse victims (to get back in the troubling times despite of absolutely hating that place) as well as for the toxic household to keep the ability to suck people back in, using such events as sickness, death, divorce or disappearance as an excuse.
And if it wasn't as toxic as it seems to be, then just being their daughter is good enough excuse.

Sorry, beubeubeu was answering me. I thought I'd read on this forum (earlier thread), that DA moved back in with her parents after this happened. Wasn't trying to spread "misinformation".

I'm like 99% sure that it wasn't meant literally, just like in the stereotype of a kid that can't really do independence so but pretends that he does - while in reality as far as they got is "living at parents garage" (meaning: still at home with them on relying on their money/support, not necessarily like IN their garage).
