GUILTY TX - Kari Baker, 31, found dead in her Hewitt home, 7 April 2006

  • #121
I found the page number - p. 19 of the first set of inquest documents. Also, I thought it was interesting that Matt said Kari wanted to donate her body to science... That would have made things a lot easier for him, if that had happened. Curious...

Nells - that was on my notes too. I bet he wanted her body to be destroyed and thus the evidence destroyed. What a total waste, to quote Casey Anthony. Waste, huge waste.

I will write up a few things, but I am literally sick to my stomach.

Matt wanted body donated to science - was he hoping they would destroy it and evidence? I can't stand this man. No crying - acting shocked (and acting is just what he was doing, IMHO)

~~

If you are going to try to kill yourself, would you not take every pill you could get your hands on? Interesting that the med's from the weight loss clinic were still in bathroom and were counted.

~~

Ever tried to dress a body postmortem? It is harder and take longer from my experience in the hospital.

~~

12:02 Matt calls 911 - supposedly dresses Kari while on the phone and has time to be waiting outside when the officer and two volunteer EMS arrive..
How long did it take them to arrive on the scene? I would assume 911 dispatched them immediately and stayed on the phone with Matt. Yet he moved her to floor to give CPR, and dressed her?
Second officer on scene arrived at 12:07. Irving already there.

~~

Surface Motives:
50,00060,000 Life Insurance.
Preacher can't get divorce - stigma. (Bible belt country)
Child support and spousal support.
Affair
Perhaps fear that divorce would bring his sexual history to light and Kari probably knew more than any one person.

~~

Autopsy report: Stomach contents - not a "few french fries" but a few green vegetables. No mention of wine coolers or those soda pops he supposedly got her and ready............. NO UNDIGESTED PILLS. NO PILLS. Put that with the abrasion on the nose and bruised lips and I get suffocation. ADDING - the wine coolers and soda would not have shown up due to the embalming.

~~

He went to sleep - did I mention he went to sleep and left the grandparents to sit up all night heartbroken and they must have been heartbroken that not only was Kari gone, but that she was married to a heartless preacher man who could sleep.

That is all I can type up right now. Please light candle for justice and pray that we see justice.

And for Justice in Waco.............

WACO (January 11, 2010)-Legal counsel for a former Central Texas minister on trial for the death of his wife say they want the trial moved because of the amount of media coverage the case has generated.

Attorneys for Matt Baker filed a motion late last week to have his trial moved to another county.

Baker is on trial in connection with the April 2006 death of his wife Kari Lynn Baker.

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Judge Ralph Strother’s 19th District Court.

You know you are addicted to a case when, you are on your phone at lunch with a friend and you read this (below) and you let out a big yell, "Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!"
2:30 p.m. — Strother denied the motion for the change of venue. He said the court will see how tomorrow’s jury selection goes. Strother assured the lawyers that he, too, will ask plenty of probing questions during voir dire to assure that Baker gets a fair trial.

Matt Baker - you are finely being held accountable for your actions and it started with that denial! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

2:08 p.m. — The defense calls another witness, Leeann Milton Robert of Riesel (not sure of the spelling, here). Responding to Gray’s questioning, Robert says she believes Baker can not get a fair trial in McLennan County. She said, in addition to the news reports, she said the “Justice for Kari” bumper stickers are all around town

Justice in Waco - tell me you were in the courtroom to hear this!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting: Because of the length of time Baker's body was buried, toxicologists had to take samples of muscle tissue rather than bodily fluids, and Wecht was surprised it only took six days to get lab results.

"When dealing with solid tissue, you have to extract whatever is inside the muscle and that takes time. I'm wondering how they got those results back in just six days," Wecht questioned. "Unless this case was hot as a firecracker, they didn't push through Michael Jackson or Anna Nicole Smith's toxicology tests that quick", he added.

IMHO, due to the controversial nature of Wecht............well I think you see where I am headed! Google him, not all roses. The above is interesting to me as this has always felt like a cover up case so it makes me wonder several things both ways in the case.

I'm not sure what the point of his ranting was. Was he trying to help Matt? Because all he did was give more evidence that he killed her.

Eight women and four men make up jury in Baker murder trial

By Erin Quinn | Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 03:45 PM

4:22 p.m.— I should have a better breakdown of the jury panel (occupations, ages) in a few moments. The jurors have been dismissed for the day. Again, testimony starts at 9:30 a.m.

From:
4:14 p.m. — Funny story: One of the bailiffs was talking to veteran Trib reporter Tommy Witherspoon about a rash that he has. The bailiff, not Tommy. And, Tommy told him to get some oatmeal soap and soak in it. From a few feet away, Matt Baker said, “Tommy, it’s Aveeno."

---------------> What the BEEP is wrong with this man? Does he think he is Mr. Mom? DOES HE NOT REALIZE HE IS ON TRIAL FOR MURDER??????
He continues to show disrespect for the entire process and Kari.

Same link:
10:44 a.m. — Jury selection began about two hours ago here in Judge Ralph Strother’s 19th State District Court. As expected, it’s been a slow morning. None of the 70 jurors have, so far, been dismissed. Minutes ago, when Strother dismissed the group for a short break, Barbara Baker, Matt Baker’s mother, stood next to a string of potential jurors filing out of the courtroom to hand her son a note. Assistant District Attorney Susan Shafer told the judge she was concerned by Barbara Baker’s proximity to the panel, and Strother instructed families to stay back from the potential jurors.
THEN:
11:34 a.m. — Barbara Baker, Matt Baker’s mother is now outside of the courtroom, and sitting in the jury room by herself.
-----------> Me: Bravo for the court seeing this and dealing with it! What does this woman have the same ideation of grandeur as her son? Reminds me of a story about an apple and a tree..................

Not that I have heard yet. If I find it you guys will be first to know!!!! Maybe Justice in Waco knows.

I did read that 'the old court tv' was providing the audio feed to the reporter pool the day of the motion for change of venue.

My cable 132 channel is "Nick2"- midwest, EST. I'll have to see if the website is available to me. (It should be available on the web, no matter where we are, right?)
