Wow,

I can't believe this man was finally brought to trial and found guilty. I remember seeing "The Preacher's Wife" on 48 hours about a year ago and thought he was guilty and was so frustrated he was out and running about with not a care in the world. Back then I thought the only hope of justice might be the civil trial. I also remember the lawyer her parents had retained, saying that one day the law or justice would catch up with him. I very much liked the plain way that lawyer spoke and fervently hoped he would be right.

Thank you to everyone for the links. I am going to go back and read them all as I only found out about this today and I am 3mths behind the all the news.

Thinking of Kari today and her parents her family and friends - finally seeing him where he belongs. And at the end thinking of her children, out from under the hands of the monster that took their mother away.

In Most cases when one parent murders the other usually they do not give the children to the killers parents.That is the way it should be! They already lost a daughter and they deserve to raise her children.The other GPs should be charged with PAS because of the wrong COD they have been telling these kids stories and lies for 3 yrs.They did not cause the dad to go to jail he caused it by murdering his wife.I know in NJ when DR.Taylor killed his wife his family fought like the devil to steal the grandson,but the victims sister fought just as hard and she finally was awarded the baby.

Mikeysmommom- I couldn't agree with you more! The 'mother' of matt baker has shown her pathology in interviews just as matt did. IMHO, these girls are in grave danger emotionally and psychologically living with her and her husband (who didn't even show up for 5 min's at the trial) especially considering their very existence is dependent on pleasing a murders family whom insists that he is being persecuted like Jesus. How can they even dare to consider that their father might be guilty - to do so might in their minds put them at risk of the same peril that became their mother. They are being made to believe the Dulin's did this to them and the truth is their father did this to them and killed their mother.
I sure hope for once, I get to see a court do what is truly "In the best interest of the children." I am so tired of seeing the courts use that buzz phase and time and time again letting pedophiles out, abusive parents have custody and hearing of another innocent child being lost because the court let money or some other stupid thing prevail over the "Best interest of the children."
The idea that the court is keeping matt baker in the county jail vs sending him to Huntsville - so that he is in the county for the custody hearings turns my stomach. He should lose all contact and all 'rights' to anything pertaining to Kari's children. If he can't vote in elections of the land - he should get no vote in the very lives of innocent children.
I will stop before my passion blows WS up!

Absolutely unbelievable. Thanks for the link, A News Junkie. I read all of the comments attached to it and am just dumbfounded by the behavior, not only of Matt, but of his entire family. That they have custody of those girls is a travesty and must be corrected post haste. I sincerely hope Kari's family has been provided with copies of the brochure to take to court with them. Undoubtedly they have and it will shed some light for the judge.

Me too Belinda! I bet their attorney can subpoena a copy of it, but Linda seems like the kind of person you would just naturally want to help, so I bet someone in that town will send it to her - esp now that he is in the big house.
I can't get over how he can run to a jurisdiction as soon as he killed Kari, still have "rights" in the custody case and be allowed to sign over guardianship/custody to his mother right before the jury verdict. Seems to me that if a person is found guilty, the court should hold an emergency hearing without bias from the criminal - as if the convicted criminal had good judgement to make decisions on a child/children then he would not be a criminal - right? So how does that even begin to live up to the mantra, "In the best interest of the children." So now, after all that has happened the nightmare of courts are still not over for the family. It seems as if they are continuing to be made victims by the system we call justice. Grrrrrr - and btw, I am not anti-justice system in anyway, but I do think there are still many kinks to be worked out!

I still try to find information on this case and it never ceases to amaze me the degree of dysfunction that still appears to be going on in it. I came across this article when trying to see what was decided with the precious children. http://tinyurl.com/34bfx2h

“The Dulins have a feeling they cannot control Beverly Crowdin, and they like to control everybody in the case,” Barbara added. “If they can’t, they try to get rid of them.”

What child would know or speak of this? Why are these children prepared to testify? Why are they not being shielded from adult matters? Why are they not being told that the judge will decide where you can best heal, grow, learn and flourish in spite of what has happened and either way-- you are blessed little girls with two sets of grandparents whom love you and want the best for you?
What bothers me is the way that matt and his mother have always attacked the Dulin family and continue to do so even in light of the trial. If they say these things publicly about the maternal grandparents and the victim - my God, I can only imagine what is said privately. Is this not alienation? I sure hope a court will see that these girls are in continuing danger and what appears to be brainwashing. Makes me want to ask barbara baker, is matt more important than these girls? Why try to take even more from them that what they have already lost? Why not allow them to love the grandparents whom they loved dearly (by all accounts) prior to all of this? I can only fear that one day these girls will grow up and resent the bakers for what they did to them, for their own gain.

What do you guys think? Anyone local who can give us insight? Is it just me or does anyone think that it is horrible for these children to be taken to a prison? Especially if they have not had counseling and come to their own decision of what happened? Is that not trying to make them believe their father is innocent and how can that be good for them right now?

I have spent a lifetime advocating for children and for the life of me I don't understand how these children are still in this home.

A News Junkie - Wonderful post. I couldn't agree more. I am also very concerned about what these children are being exposed to in this family. It is breathtakingly unfair that Kari's parents are having to go through this and that these children are being used by Matt's family. I sincerely hope the judge looks very carefully at this situation and makes some very necessary changes.
