Sidenote: Williams is accused of plotting to kill Ashworth.

I'm not a big fan of the death penalty. Matter of fact, I think the only time I could vote for it is if the defendant killed/abused a child. That being said, if they give this guy life I hope they throw him in a dungeon chained to the wall with absolutely no contact with humans. In my mind there is no doubt he would attempt to kill others. After this trial he would just have a lot more people to add to his hit list.

Only thing I can say is that he should have read his Bible before he did the things he did. If he had, we wouldn't be where we are today.

I remember seeing this retired correction officer give defense testimony in another trial. Same song and dance about age reducing the man's threat. I don't think assault rifles consider that when emptying.

So now they're discussing Williams' safety in a prison setting. Why?????? Williams didn't consider the safety of his victims. Hopefully he will be so busy trying to keep himself safe that he won't have time to hatch plots targeting others or trying to escape.

I think the military man is the defendant's cousin. The State got him to admit about the defendant that 'If he did kill three people he is not an honorable man'.

I commend the man for his brutal honesty but why didn't the defense jump up and object. This is a trial for one murder isn't it? Can other information about possible other crimes be allowed?

They want lighter sentence. Defense argues life without parole too harsh for him, should be eligible for parole: health reasons (diabetes), safety issues in prison.

This is getting painful. Listening to all the endless trips down memory lane with boy scout trips and helping to find a pet weasel.

The defense said they wanted to recall a witness (I think) and the Judge looked like he would spit fire. He had the jury dismissed and told the defense to approach so he could spank them.

Ian Lyles, an Army colonel, testified that the charges against Williams have been "devastating" for Williams' parents. Have health issues.

Prosecutor Wirskye asks Lyles if Williams is an honorable man. "The Eric I know is." But says Army has taken him out of Texas for 25 yrs.

Lyles said he knows this has been devastating for all the families. Appears to be referring to McLellands.

Actually, I've been surprised at the apparent respectability of those testifying for the defense. A cousin who is an Army colonel, a Tarrant Co. sheriff's deputy, an Eagle Scout leader plus other school friends & the mother of a school friend. I feel sorry for these people having to testify in order to try & save this miserable jerks life. It is also astonishing that none of them ever detected any problems with Williams' character or personality. Signs of future problems are very often detectable at an early age. From what I have heard & read, the first sign of trouble was Williams being fired from the White Settlement Police Dept. The only reason that could not be considered suspicious was if he was let go because of a reduction in the work force which would be unlikely for a police force. Then in the 1990s Williams threatened his ex-girlfriend & her son with a gun & his true colors started to show. Apparently from that time forward he had no problem wishing death, torture & destruction on anyone who made him angry.

Prosecutors indicated that he was terminated from White Settlement police force for computer hacking. It is quite painful to hear about all these people who haven't really spoken to him in 30 years trying to justify his character. All were, of course, subpoenaed. The first(?) defense witness, JP, a Kaufman attorney posted a public message on her facebook about the fact that she was subpoenaed and not voluntarily there. The testimony of his ex-girlfriend about broke my heart. I learned from a little sleuthing that she lost her husband of many years a week ago (!) today and buried him on Monday of this week. And then had to come testify about this psychopath. What a horrible week for her!

That gives a whole new meaning to "having a bad week". I feel sorry for her as well as any others who were not there voluntarily.
