My hinky meter went off when I read the bolded part. Anyone else?

MIne went off when I read Kayla bent over to say goodbye, then he buckled the 2 year old in, but said Kayla didn't go outside. Maybe it's a just the way it was written, but I found the statement from the cousin confusing about her husband's actions.

Ya...unfortunately....

Read this part of the article: Ms. Zavala's husband told her, “Kayla bent down to hug (my daughter) and said, I’ll see you Friday. My husband buckled her up, and said, ‘We’re leaving.’ (Kayla) didn’t come outside. She is scared of the dark. She stayed in the lobby area.”

If Kayla didn't go outside, how did he say to Kayla after he buckled up his daughter, "We're leaving", if Kayla didn't go outside?

Just my thoughts and opinions.

I wish we knew who was the first person to mentioned the red SUV. It may have very well been just a "hail mary" to get the amber alert out there....or not...

Maybe the 2 year old is still in an infant carrier??? That stood out to me, too.....

I read that like 4 times myself. At first I was thinking of an infant carrier, but the child is 2 years old, so that doesn't fly.

No 2 year old I know could fit in an infant carrier, doubt it would be easy to lift!
I can't lift my 12 month old in her carrier anymore!

Or maybe buckle a jacket, my mom uses that term. SInce he was home five minutes later, I'm not as concerned, but if they we're looking for her that fast and called, who knows.

By the time Gustavo Zavala made it home, an estimated five-minute drive, family was calling asking if Kayla had rode with him, because they couldn’t find her, Ms. Zavala said.

To me that alleviates any suspicion on his part. The story may be poorly worded, or she is nervous speaking to the press.

No, he is still not off the hook. Something is very off about this. Are we CERTAIN he left only 5 minutes earlier?

If she was playing in the lobby, with whom? The 2 year old?

I don't get anything hinky from the family from what I've seen/read so far.

And an average 2 year old would never fit in an infant carrier. Mine outgrew his around 7 months, I think.

I think maybe it's just worded strangely or something.

Did anyone else see her besides relatives? Are there any cameras in the parking lot or anywhere around there?

You are correct, we have no idea what time anyone left the church.

Someone had to see something. A struggle, the girl leaving with someone, noise or commotion, anything. Maybe the person who did this was a new church member or visitor. Someone familiar enough to not raise suspicion, but also not well known to everyone

My daughter was tiny and would have "fit" into an infant carrier at 2. However, I'd never have done that unless I was completely uneducated about safety seats and couldn't afford the proper one for her.

And the way it is written: that it is a 5 minute drive home. Nowhere does it say it is confirmed that it took him five minutes to get home.

Exactly. Wonder if that two year old is verbal at all.

I hope the FBI is really looking into this guy. If he is home and she is not, then I think we have a very scary person in our midst. My gut says this uncle is not being honest.

Do the FBI normally get involved so quickly?
