When you saw the news last night and the shots of where she was found, it looked like an unfinished building stuck in the middle of nowhere. But the news I just saw shows a large house on the property also, not that far from the unfinished building. This is the abandoned house? It doesn't seem abandoned to me because you can see outdoor furniture on the porch. It certainly gives a better viewpoint of where she was found. The unfinished bldg they were showing last night is literally just off the driveway to the house.

If you look at google street view, you can see the bigger house and then the smaller one nearby. Currently, it looks unfinished. In street view, not so much. So perhaps someone is currently trying to fix it up? Who knows. I believe the same person owns both properties (from what I can tell, no relation to people in the case.)

I wonder if he ran over her in the dark.
When u read that statement Kayla bent over to kiss the baby they would see her Friday.
Then it goes on to say he buckled her up and said we are leaving.
For him to be buckling the baby up they had to be outside right then says we are leaving.

He then says she wouldn't go outside because she is afraid of the dark,

If that were the case there would have likely been some evidence left behind.

Why am I seeing McDonalds and such when I look at streetview? It's 22131 Old Jacksonville Hwy, correct?

Soar with the angels, Kayla!

She said "the local news coverage seems amateurish"
Nowhere did she say the LE did. Seems clear enough to me what she meant.

Apologies, I wasn't seeing very clearly through my tears, nor thinking clearly in my grief. That said, the only important thing here is Kayla and her grieving family, and that justice be served.

"Investigators say a say they worked overnight to obtain a search warrant.

Cherokee County Sheriff James Campbell said Saturday that authorities believe it is the body of Kayla Gomez-Orozco, who has been missing since Nov. 1. A case investigator also said Saturday there was evidence recovered on a property in the 22000 block of Old Jacksonville Highway in Bullard. This area is only a few miles from where Kayla was last seen.

Federal, state, and local law enforcement officials are investigating."

(I'm noticing more and more how Google maps and streetview, pins are sometimes off. We saw that early in this case with the church pin being a mile and a half off. Google maps puts my residence way off as well; according to it I'm in the middle of a field.)

(By the way, great to see so many of you here from Christina Morris's case.)

No. check out the case map. Link is in the OP. Both properties are marked with pics from MSM

So not only did the perp not care for Kayla, but also didn't care for his own family members to hurt them like this. Just noting from a psychological standpoint. Not that it's some big epiphany.

Also in the report:
Family member KETK spoke with says it was a cousin who, "acted like an uncle to Kayla," and had married into the family.

I woke up thinking about Kayla and her family. I have no words, but my heart is with them, and I'm glad she was found. :(

(Me too, I think so many of us did because I came right here at 6am and there were a lot of members (and guests) already here so early on a Sunday morning.)

In other cases, I have seen similar 'alibis.' and they are easy to falsify.

HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING;
What 'might' have happened is he takes the child with him, by luring her to the car. Then puts her in the trunk or stops and stashes her somewhere hidden away. Then drives home with his baby. She is only 2 so she would not be talking about what happened or even knew---

He goes home w/ his yr old, and is home with his wife/alibi, when they get the call about his missing niece. He acts all concerned, worried, they put their baby to sleep. At some point he sneaks out when wife is asleep or he makes an excuse to leave briefly. Wouldn't take long...
I'm still catching up, but there's a wide span of development in 2 year olds. I know a two year old that could tell you everything that happened yesterday, quite clearly and accurately. I don't think we really know what developmental stage the 2 year old was in. She could be an early two, and not be speaking full sentences. We just don't know.

I am curious as to where Kayla's home is as well as family members homes. I am trying to understand the timeline. I am also curious as to why the cousin was not at church that evening yet her husband was with their 2 year old. I am thinking maybe she was at work and did not actually see him at home after 5 minutes and that is just what he told her. My thoughts are that as soon as it was discovered that Kayla was missing the family would have all gone to the church to look for her and meet with the police. For him not to be there as one of the last nown to see her would have been a bright red flag. Even if he used that the 2 year old was in bed LEO would have gone to question him immediately.

(O/T, I can't help but wonder now if Diana Alvarez might be in a similar location.)
