Friends reported Kayla Kelley, 33, missing on Jan. 11 after not hearing from her for several days. Her car was subsequently found "in a remote area of Frisco," a city about 30 miles north of Dallas, the Collin County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities arrested 32-year-old Ocastor Ferguson — also known as Kevin Brown — on Jan. 14 for kidnapping after identifying him as a person of interest in Kelley's disappearance, and he is being held at Collin County Detention Center on $1 million bond, according to the sheriff's office and an online jail log.

The online jail log shows that Ferguson is married.

law enforcement with lost and missing cases, told NBC affiliate KXAS of Dallas that the sheriff's office and the Texas Rangers enlisted their help in the search Friday and Monday, respectively.

Paul Lake, the organization's founder and executive director, told KXAS that tips from the public are often key to solve cases like this one.

“Typically, especially in a profile similar to this one, that is where the final information will come from to solve the case, is someone who has seen something that maybe they didn’t even know they saw or knew something they didn’t realize was pertinent,” Lake said.

Dear Lord, too much info to post. Doesn't look good at all. IMO
Some clips from the article...

Police located Kelley's burned-out car on a county road in Frisco with no evidence of Kelley. But they say they have evidence that Ferguson was the last person with her, and they found some disturbing evidence inside his car.
...
An arrest affidavit obtained by FOX 4 on Tuesday reveals an illicit affair between Kelley and Ferguson right before she disappeared. According to investigators, she only recently found out he was married. He never even told her his real name.
...
Detectives then went through Kelley’s phone records, pointing them to conversations with Ferguson, who went by the name "Kevin Brown." They later found his Lexus parked near Kelley’s home.

And according to court records, "a search warrant was conducted on the vehicle and gloves, duct tape, and a blanket were inside."

...

There is more, but the bottom line is this cheating low-life likely killed her.

On Jan. 13, investigators said they visited Ferguson at work and that during an interview he admitted to knowing Kelley and said he last saw her on Jan. 10 when she dropped him off at work at about noon. He said she was supposed to bring him lunch at about 6 p.m., but that she never showed up. He said his Lexus was at Kelley's because he was hiding it from his wife.

During the interview Ferguson allowed detectives to look at his phone and he showed them texts between him and Kelley that included one threatening to tell his wife if he didn't answer her. He admitted to investigators they met online and started dating in the summer of 2022 and that she knew him as "Kevin" because she didn't want him to find out his real identity. He said she was never at his home and they always met at her house or hotels or other places.

Detectives said they analyzed Ferguson's phone records which indicated he was at work on Jan. 10 and then at his home in Grand Prairie. He then apparently left home and drove up the Dallas North Tollway toward Kelley's duplex and then to the area where her burned car had been located before returning home to Grand Prairie.

The affidavit for Ferguson's arrest revealed he and Kelley had been dating but that he was using a different name, Kevin. According to the affidavit, Kelley recently learned Ferguson was married after finding out his real identity.

As the search began for Kelley, the affidavit stated that on Jan. 12, Frisco police told the sheriff's office that the 33-year-old's vehicle was found on a deserted county road.

The affidavit stated that the vehicle was "burned beyond recognition and the incident was not consistent with a natural fire." There was no physical evidence found in the vehicle that could lead to her location, according to investigators.

Collin County investigators then went to her duplex and found that her dog had been unattended for several days without food or water. According to the affidavit, "family and relatives advised the dog was like Kelley's child and she would never leave it unattended for an extended period of time."

The affidavit stated that investigators obtained phone records and learned Kelley had been speaking with Ferguson. After conducting a background check on Ferguson, investigators learned his wife recently reported their vehicle as stolen.

Ferguson's vehicle was later found near Kelley's residence, according to the affidavit. Investigators found gloves, duct tape and a blanket inside the vehicle, the affidavit stated.

The affidavit stated that Kelley's phone was last used on Jan. 10 at 6:59 p.m. near Ferguson's workplace in Dallas. Records from the NTTA also showed Kelley's vehicle going north on the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco on Jan. 10 at 1:56 a.m.

Investigators interviewed Ferguson at his workplace on Jan. 13, where he said he knew Kelley and that he last saw her on Jan. 10 when she dropped him off at work around 12 p.m., according to the affidavit.

“Possible victim’s vehicle burned like this, in the vast majority, that’s a attempt to by a suspect to destroy evidence, whether it’s biological evidence, technology,” said Douglas Deaton, a criminal expert..

He said the next steps in finding her are “again it ... it would be begin collecting all evidence, electronic, digital evidence and speaking to any person who may have been acquainted with either the suspect or the missing person.”

Ocastor Ferguson is charged with kidnapping. His bond is set for $1 million.

“On Jan. 13, investigators spoke to Ferguson, who admitted he was dating Kelley, but said the last time he saw her was the previous Tuesday when he dropped her off at work. Ferguson told investigators she did not come back to pick him up like they had planned,” according to a FOX 4 News report. “On Jan. 14, an analysis of Ferguson’s phone records showed him in the area of Frisco where investigators found Kelley’s burned-out car on a dead-end, dirt county road.”

Ocastor Ferguson will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of murder. The jury that unanimously found him guilty after deliberating for about an hour Thursday morning determined later that afternoon how long he'd be behind bars.

Earlier in the day, the predominantly white Collin County jury of seven men and six women agreed with prosecutors and found Ferguson guilty of killing his girlfriend Kayla Kelly, burying her body in a shallow grave near his home, and then setting her car on fire.

Judicial District Court Judge Angela Tucker read the verdict at about 12:20 p.m., a little more than an hour after giving the jury the case. Following a lunch break, the trial's sentencing phase began at about 1:30 p.m. with the state expected to call one witness and the defense two.

In a surprise move, Ferguson took the stand and testified during the punishment phase of the trial after passing on an opportunity to defend himself during the guilt/innocence phase earlier in the afternoon.

Ferguson took the stand and told jurors he didn't kill Kayla Kelley. He said on the night in question he was kidnapped by three men, one of whom was angry he was dating Kelley. He said it was those three men who must have killed his girlfriend.
