The Beaumont Police Department is searching for Kayla Nicole Rice, a 33 year old Beaumont resident, who has not been seen or heard from since the end of November 2020. She was reported missing in December by family who live out of state. Kayla was last known to be living in the 1100 block of Mcfaddin.

At the time of the initial report, her vehicle was immediately located by police but was found to have been physically altered. In November, Kayla was six months pregnant. BPD Detectives have interviewed several known associates but have not been able to locate Kayla. Our main concern is to check Kayla's welfare and make sure she is ok.

If you have any information about Kayla Rice or her whereabouts, please call Beaumont Police at 409-832-1234.

This is very concerning, it's been two months. What does it mean that her car was found "physically altered", I wonder?

Although she has a rather ugly criminal history, she needs to be found. At least for the sake of her unborn child. That child can’t help it.
In cases like this IMO LE should look to the father of her unborn child, or if she had a rival, she too should be investigated. But I’m sure LE knows what to do.

I would assume possibly repainted or identifying pieces from the car removed. That is just what I thought when reading it. Its only a guess.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Our family last heard from Kayla by phone on 11/23/2020. Her phone wasn't used after 11/29/2020, but has suspicious activity after 11/23/2020. Her car was found at her current apt residence and was physically altered.
So according to the info:

1,) Something could have happened to Kayla on or closely after the 23TH, someone made her disappear (in whatever state she was in) and most likely that someone used her phone until the 29TH to make it seem she was still alright, to distance themselves from the time he/she was last seen with Kayla

2,) Maybe something medical happened to Kayla which made her communication erratic enough to take notice from the 23TH on ‘till the 29TH and after that she disappeared?

3,) ?

Was the father of her baby known?
Was he on board? Did they had contact?
I’m not accusing him, this are only questions racing around my head.

Was she prone to depression?
Did she have a favorite place to go to if the going got tough?

Is she known going somewhere on foot if her vehicle was found near the apt? Where and how far would she go on foot?
What would be her other means of transport in that case?

Beaumont man charged with murder connected to pregnant girlfriend | 12newsnow.com
[...]

On Tuesday, Beaumont detectives announced the Jefferson County murder charges for 35-year-old Jonathan Paul Menard in the death of Rice. Officials said she was 24 weeks pregnant with a baby boy when she died.

Menard was already in the Jefferson County Jail for related charges including tampering with evidence and parole violation.

Jonathan Menard was Rice’s boyfriend, and they were living together when she was murdered, according to Beaumont Police.

[...]

... Her remains were found around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, on Ged Road in what appeared to be a shallow grave.

Menard was arrested in Calcasieu Parish on Feb. 11, for a parole violation.

After Beaumont investigators filed tampering with evidence charges and had a warrant issued for Menard on Feb. 22, he was transferred from Calcasieu Parish to Jefferson County on Feb. 25 where he awaited additional charges.

Another woman and child murdered by one of the people they trusted the most...a boyfriend/fiancé/husband. It seems like we’re seeing more and more of this instead of less and less.
It is now and it always has been the most common way that "innocent" people are murdered, innocent in this case meaning that the murder was not some part of a criminal enterprise. These two statistics combined are such well known trends that it can explain why the internet always goes after the boyfriend/husband first and if he's both innocent and fortunate enough to have a very convincing alibi the internet often seems to completely turn around and victim blame but it's just statistics. In cases of a seemingly innocent person being murdered if it wasn't a romantic partner the safest bet becomes that the victim was involved in something clandestine.

Of course in nearly 100% of adult murder cases there are warning signs of some kind. Choose your romantic partners carefully, Ladies.
