BPD is great and did everything they could IMO. I don't know all the exacts for an amber alert, but if they don't have any description of a vehicle or person last seen then I don't know how they'd be expected to do that. They reported her missing and had flyers out all over town and social media. It wasn't like they weren't trying...JMO

So very, very sad. Hopefully tomorrows presser will answer some questions and an arrest announced. One of the links somewhere states Kaytlynn's dog was just a puppy. I cant see her tying up the pup in the heat unless she only intended to be a few minutes. Somebody at the complex? Visiting?

I believe that the media outlets want the 1st scoop and can interfere with LE.
When LE is recovering a victim and obtaining evidence and you have film crews hovering over capturing videos of the process, LE shouldn't have to be worrying about a tent to cover from prying eyes. I can't imagine being the family. The media wonders why LE are tight lipped.
Honestly, news agencies should be fined when they do this

All true. But when you issue the conclusion that a young teen not known to be a problem child or have tried to runaway in the past, is a runaway, and NOT in danger, that causes citizens to not be on the alert. No missing child should be deemed a runaway until and unless there is concrete proof and nothing to indicate the child hasn't been lured away by a predator, and no missing child should ever be deemed "not in danger" IMO.

Clearly that wasn't the case here.

Yes I'm replying to myself but this just made me wonder if the person responsible possibly knew the dumpster would be emptied soon. Usually they aren't emptied but once a couple weeks. Hmmm. Moo

If she was placed in a dumpster at the apartments, I believe they would be dumped at least once, possibly 2x per week.

I know the community will be grieving this case for a long time. There are no clear cut answers as of yet, and many are hurting and scared, as they should be.
I am very pro LE but in this case they made a mistake by not alerting the public with serious concern.
She was just a sweet, petite, little girl. This happened very quickly, IMO, this could have been anyone of us. We are all vulnerable to these kinds of predators, even when we think we are reasonably safe.
Trying to make sense of it and find a place to put the blame seems a normal reaction to something so horrible.

I'm guessing he didn't want to be seen in the vicinity, so was hiding in the shadows or around a corner at a place they planned to meet, maybe she had been secretly meeting him previously. She left the dog tied up with her friends, and walked off to meet him. Hopefully somebody saw them both.

Where are you getting info of her meeting someone? Is there a link?

No, just my thoughts on what may have happened. She left the dog and walked off ... I'm guessing to meet someone. I could be totally wrong, though. Just trying to piece it together. She was at the park...left the dog...walked off...and vanished. Sorry for any confusion.

After reading what you just said, I suddenly became very suspicious that she left the dog with friends. It doesn't sound right. Why couldn't she take the dog with her.
Maybe taking the dog out was an excuse to her mother, so she could get out for a few minutes. On the other hand, I don't see most people separating from their pet or even needing to.

ETA; maybe I am tired and need to get refreshed and listen to the PC in the morning.

I agree with you. Even if the dog was an excuse, why not take him/her with you to meet someone? I really think the "friends" who then left said dog tied to a fence have to be thoroughly checked out.
