Sleeping pill, pain pill, and an anti-anxiety pill.......
Not uncommon to have all three. I am wondering why he would take a sleeping pill and go outside.

Ambien is known to cause sleep walking...

Sounds like an overdose. Did he have back/neck issues? Was he seeing a pain management specialist? Did he have any back or neck surgery? These are all medications a lot of general practice doctors will not prescribe together. We may never know RIP Mr. Draper.

It is not overdose that is listed as cause of death, rather is was mixed drug intoxication which is something that happens when certain drugs in combination (in this case hydrocodone and alprazolam) working together produce a toxic effect. Rate of breathing is seriously reduced and the result can be brain death. At least my favorite friend Google says so.

My DH took all three of these for several years due to back and neck pain. If taken as directed, should not produce a toxic effect. Physical (and mental) pain cause some people to take more than prescribed. They may not be able to contribute it to an overdose. Were these his medications? Or did he get some from family/friends?

I question why he was outside after taking ambien. Usually people take their sleeping medication right before they lay down to go to sleep. I think this could be accident or suicide and we may never know. I don't suspect foul play by any means.

I was on Ambien for a short time due to the inability to sleep. I stopped when I "woke up" on a treadmill at the gym. My son had driven to school with me as a passenger (he needed the practice) early for soccer or basketball practice (or maybe detention). I had driven from the school to the YMCA with no recollection of getting there. I still don't remember it. My son told me about the morning drive. I drove about 15 miles on the interstate and don't recall a thing. I don't even remember getting on the treadmill, just sort of waking up there when I got my heart rate up. Scared me half to death and I quit using it and will never use it again.

I can believe he went outside while being unaware. I could also see forgetting you already took a single dose of something. I'm curious how long he was on it. Mine took about 2 weeks to manifest into something dangerous.

A good friends father committed suicide out of nowhere after also being in these drugs. No warning. Just woke up and shot himself. Scary but it happens. So sad though

I was on it as well. Woke up one morning to realize I went grocery shopping at some point during the night and had absolutely no memory of it. Apparently this is a fairly common "side effect." I could only imagine what taking it with other drugs would do. Scary stuff.
