I'm wondering if Lay will make it to the sentencing the week of 9/11. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he took the easy way out. He's a coward...
Agreed.

I would love to see the courts rule the millions those two have are considered stolen monies and they have to somehow go back to the employess that lost everything.

Im really surprised that someone out of anger and frustration did not kill those two.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I am surprised myself.

Bet it was the stress. Poor guy. What an ironic ending.

It makes my blood boil that the SOB will never serve a day of his life in prison.

I'm with you. Can't help but wonder if anything was done to 'induce' this heart attack.

The really ironic thing is that many here (in Houston), including me, have said he will never spend a day serving his sentence. We were right. It will be interesting to see what an autopsy shows - if one is requested.

Living in Houston, we have many friends who lost everything when Enron fell apart. The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach and I'll never believe he wasn't in on it from the very beginning.

God works in such mysterious ways; I'm astounded. I agree; why did he get the easy way out? He could have at least died a slow death from cancer; oh yes I'm mean, mean. People should get a punishment suited to the crime IMO.

Maybe they can use his estate to help the people who lost their pensions. Or does he still have an estate?

My first reaction was that it was suicide. It could have been stress induced, but I wonder if something wasn't given to induce a heart attack. I don't think he could go from living the high life to prison.

That'd be nice, but doubtful. I was a bit surprised to read that he was vacationing at his 'luxury home' in Aspen when this heart attack took place. I thought he had been forced to sell off everything. I'm sure if they start digging, they will find lots of assets that could be sold with profits going to people he stole from.

He could have been fighting with his wife, or you know having a little "fling" before prison. Remember Rockefeller and his mistress?

Stress can definitely cause high blood pressure and heart attack, etc. Also he probably ate "well" - the finest pastries and chateu briand, etc. Only the best for him.

Suicide is my first guess, too. We will probably never know the truth. As for Ken Lay's assets, I can't help but suspect that this man was shrewd enough to hide them. I guess that only time will tell if this is the case. If the family is truly in debt, how will his wife keep up her high-faluting lifestyle??

ETA: I wonder if he had a really big life insurance policy. If so, that would take care of his wife. I guess that the government can't take that money, can they?

Oh, that little "elmer fudd" looking SO_. If I'd have known that I'd go to Aspen and zing him myself with a little electric shock! Why do these people get away with this nonsense? I mean I get a ticket for forgetting to put my headlights on when it's still daylight. Sheeesh.

Mine too. And I'm sure we'll never know if suicide was the case.

agree with those "speculating" the "heart attack" may have had a little assist. i guess this is ultimate justice.

Awwwww. What a shame. I hope he didn't suffer (sarcasm).

No justice? While the rest of us were celebrating the nation's birth with fireworks displays, watermelon and relaxing family time, Lay was suffering a mass coronary. I see symbolic justice in that.

If his heirs have any conscience or decency about them they will give everything they inherit to the people who lost everything due to Lay's greed. It would only be a token amount for each, but it would be something and the heirs could relieve themselves of the "sins of the father".

One can only hope that it was a long, drawn-out, painful experience for him.

We could have planned a little road trip! You're not far from me. :blowkiss:
