AMBER ALERT ISSUED

On April 3rd, 2020, at approximately 9pm, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to an address in the 500 block of Starling Creek to assist Child Protective Services with the removal of a child from that home. The mother of the child had become upset, locked the CPS caseworkers out of the house, and fled the location out of a backdoor with the 8-year old child. Officers arrived on location and quickly learned from eyewitnesses that the mother and child had been seen walking through a nearby ditch in the Conrads Lane/Goodwin Lane area before getting into a black 4-door pickup truck. Due to the circumstances surrounding this incident and the belief that the child is in immediate danger, an AMBER Alert has been authorized through the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The child has been identified as 8-year old Kiley Diaz. She stands approximately 3½-feet to 4-feet tall, weighs between 50 and 60 pounds, and has wavy dark brown hair that goes past her shoulders. She was last seen wearing pink Mickey Mouse pajamas.

The mother has been identified as 29-year old Alyssa Lopez. She stands approximately 5-feet 5-inches tall, weighs approximately 125 pounds, has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and a sleeve tattoo featuring a sunflower. She was last seen wearing black workout shorts and a black t-shirt with white writing.

It is unknown who was driving the black pickup truck, but the vehicle was last seen heading southbound on I-35 and was last known to be in the Selma area. The destination for the mother and daughter is unknown, but authorities have reason to believe they could be heading to Pearsall or possibly out of state, either to California or Washington State.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of 8-year old Kiley Diaz or 29-year old Alyssa Lopez is asked to call 911 or call the New Braunfels Police Department at 830-221-4100.

PLEASE NOTE: This post has been edited to remove reference to a specific type of pickup truck with a specific license plate. It has been determined that the truck and its driver were not involved in this case. NBPD appreciates your help as we deal with evolving information based on eyewitness accounts and the ongoing investigation as we work together to locate the missing girl and her mother.

There are more details posted in this FB post. And of course, plenty of comments.
There certainly are.
Sounds like the daughter isn't in danger ?
I wish that were the case; but the mom has a criminal background. :(

A responsible parent would stop and let this get sorted out, soooo...

sometimes i wonder if police use amber alerts as a tool to solve things like this rather than for its intended purpose

but if the police truly think they are in danger i guess who are we to argue, you are right a mature adult would stop and present themselves and sort this out

mistakes happen and mistakes happen within CPS all the time so if that is the case stopping and sorting it out is the best thing, running makes it look so much worse and gives them so much more ammunition in a child court case

Most of the comments I am seeing there are just people complaining about CPS. As many of us in this group know very well, CPS not acting quickly and appropriately has resulted in an unfortunate number of preventable, tragic child deaths. The opinions of strangers, and even extended family, don’t give us a lot to appropriately speculate on. Huge relief that they have been located and are both unharmed.

yeah this is very true lots of high profile ones recently including a very popular netflix doco right now

it goes both ways i guess and its probably nature of the job
