They look alike to me, but the years between make me wonder.

Both very sad cases. :(

Outofthedark, the unidentified remains that you posted is whom we call Princess Lavender. Here is a link to her thread.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47950&highlight=Lavender

I notice that in The Doe Network poster you posted the estimated age now read 13-22, whereas IIRC it was originally estimated at 17-22. I will research this further to try and make sense of it. It could be a typo, a mistake in my recollection or perhaps the estimate was changed by forensics specialists.

Thank you for posting this:). I think it is s a long shot, but once in a while long shots are the right shots. Princess Lavender was said to have had perfect, straight, white teeth with no cavities. I wish we knew whether or not there are dentals for Ranara.

ETA: Here is her info on the Texas DPS site. It still reads that she was estimated to be between 17-22 at time of death.

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/mpch/UnidentifiedDetails.asp?id=U0611002

ETA: The hot case page where Princes Lavender once was not longer works. This could be because it is no longer a hot case. It could also be that her age at TOD was changed. I will email the good folks at The Doe Network and ask them if her info has changed.

Just a heads up: I clicked on the link to the thread here about Princess Lavender. Then I clicked on the link to the Tx Debt. of Public Safety. I got 3 AVG virus warnings when I closed the thread.

  • #405
Hope4Lost, that happened to me too!!! I didn't say anything here because I was also doing 3 other things and wasn't sure what caused the virus alert... It took me forever to get my pc back to normal last night.

Hi Angel4Alpha (and eveyone) :) -
I know I haven't been on in awhile, but I have been following. Thank you for continuing to search for the match to lovely Princess Lavender...
I hesitate about Kellie because of the age difference. Yes, you're right, jodierenee, that the ages are sometimes off, but in these remains, they were giving a range of 17-22, LIKELY ON THE YOUNG END OF THAT. So I just don't know if they would be a decade off. In her case, the body was complete. Many times the age range may be more of an estimate when they only have partial remains to examine. There are so many places on the body to examine to aid in determining the age range part of the profile, I would think they would only be able to be MORE accurate the more of the body that was present. Does that make sense?
warmly, sloane

It does look like a really good match, but I know that Joanna Rogers' remains were already found. They were found in a landfill.

It's creepy how they have her head on a stick. It seems somehow disrespectful.

  • #418
That is so sad! Well, I'm glad they found her! RIP Joann.

  • #419
Well, they have to have some way of supporting the skull, upon which the facial reconstruction is developed... but I agree with you, Kiki, it would look better if it didn't show/was covered up somehow.
btw, welcome! :)
