Are y‘all ready for more family members?
Asked where missing San Antonio child is, grandfather says: 'Only God knows.'
After police accused 34-year-old Christopher Davila of faking the kidnapping of his infant son, his father confronted him.
“‘Tell me the truth,
mijo,’” Mario Davila Sr. recalled saying, raising his voice slightly. “‘The baby,
mijo. Where is the baby?’”
According to his father, Christopher admitted making a mistake when he left 8-month-old King Jay inside his Dodge Dart with the doors unlocked and the engine running. But, the father said, Christopher told him the same thing he’s told police: He has no idea who took his car and the child from the Friends Food Mart on Friday evening or where King Jay was.
In an exclusive interview with the San Antonio Express-News, four members of the Davila family — including Christopher Davila’s parents and his eldest sister, Amy Davila Ozuna — spoke about the bizarre disappearance of King Jay. The elderly couple worry the scrutiny could hinder their efforts to regain custody of their five great-grandchildren, who were removed from their home by Child Protective Services last year.

“He’s my son,” Beatrice Davila said. “To kill someone? I don’t know. I don’t know.”
For years, her family says, she has battled cancer, which makes her voice soft and raspy. Now 65, she spends most of her days in bed in her modest home on the West Side. Above her bed is a simple cross. Mario Davila, her husband of 40 plus years, sat nearby.
Amy Davila Ozuna, Christopher’s sister, said she understands that investigators are doing their due diligence and that her family will face extra scrutiny in the beginning stages of the investigation.
“I understand,” said Ozuna, whose daughter, Savannah, 24, was questioned by police Tuesday. “They look at the family first. But for how long?”
She said she took a lie detector test administered by detectives and passed.

Lupe Sampayo, Christopher’s uncle, said he is frustrated that authorities did not initially focus the search for King Jay on Rodriguez Park, where a baby bottle was discovered Sunday. He said his family initiated the search, not police.

Beatrice and Mario Davila worry about their five great-grandchildren, who are Savannah Ozuna’s children and Amy Davila Ozuna’s grandchildren. Until sometime last fall, they had custody of them.
They said they do not know why the children, who are between the ages of 8 months and five years, were removed by CPS. They said they are working with CPS employees to get them back.
