Shepherd man missing, family pleads for help
  • Kirk was last seen by a family member in the Cherry Creek Subdivision in the front yard of an acquaintance, according to his stepdaughter.
  • He has no vehicle and traveled by foot or bicycle.
  • Kirk struggled with addiction and was estranged from most of his family, keeping in communication mainly with his ex-wife and his sister.
  • He had a cell phone but the last numbers family had were no good.
  • Kirk is an unemployed carpenter who supports himself by working odd jobs.
  • He moves around a lot, staying with friends in the Shepherd area.
  • “We have called every person we know to call and no one has seen him. The last person we know he was staying with said he would come over to eat and take a shower, but she hasn’t seen him in a month,” Williams said.
  • Kirk’s sister says he usually stays in touch with her and they often go a month without talking by phone. She is worried because no one can find him.
  • “We’re usually able to find him. I don’t know a lot of the people he hangs out with but the ones I do know haven’t seen him in weeks,” she said.
  • LE went by the place he was staying and there is nobody there.
  • Filing a missing person’s report fell on Kirk’s next of kin, his son. The father and son have been estranged for years because of Kirk’s lifestyle.
  • “The people he runs with usually know where he is, and even they are concerned about his welfare,” SB said.

Texas Ranger Ryan Clendennen (holding evidence collection bags) questions a resident of a property on the 700 block of N. Cherry Creek Road in Shepherd about the disappearance of 56-year-old Kirk Buik.

The search appeared to center on the property of an acquaintance of Buik’s where makeshift homes, camper trailers, vehicles and debris are scattered all around. Authorities began the search Thursday morning and wrapped up around 2 p.m., exiting the property carrying shovels. Clendennen left the site with several evidence collection bags, but he would not say what, if anything, was found on the property.

On Thursday, a body was found inside a white metal container.

The family of the missing man, Kirk Buik, believe the remains are his, but we're told identification will take some time. They believe he was murdered with a hatchet.

Two suspects have been arrested. Jack Gonzalez and Matthew Greenwood are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

 Oh my! I wasn't expecting murder based on the facts posted by Pommy in post number 2.
I thought maybe an overdose or that he moved on to a new place...

Rest in Peace Kirk. It sounds like Justice is on the way.
