TX TX - Krislyn Gibson, 35, & Sidney Taylor, 35, Austin, 2 April 2016

  • #41
Unfortunately, here in Austin the missing Krislyn and Sidney event has been eclipsed by a murder. But I can say from what I have read is that all the major news outlets here in Austin have carried their story from the beginning.
I wonder what club they went to or what part of town it is in?

I agree in that it does not look good.
Praying.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Last weekend the Texas Relays were held-a historically huge athletic event which draws thousands of people from all over the State.

I wonder if they met someone at the club in Austin and got duped for their kindness. Maybe offered someone a ride to Houston?
I agree that Austin Police Department needs to be prodded into their best investigation mode for these 2.

I googled and googled and could not find anything on the story in Austin and there has been frustration because the focus has not been in Austin. Krislyn's friend said she only saw one news report in Austin. Sadly, the story had not made the news in Houston until the 6th. I mistakenly said the 6th earlier, but it was the evening/night of the 5th that I started sharing and worked through the night into the morning of the 6th to get information to and from a friend and family member, to assist in providing the media with the most up to date and accurate information. As others have said, the story still isn't clear and was even more convoluted days ago.

And like you, I wonder about the club and details about that, because though the car was found and the phone app registered Houston, I think there is some information that is vital in the place they were last seen.

It's not much (very little at all actually), but one of my closest friends is a news anchor here (in Colorado now), but has worked at a few stations in Texas previously. Not in Austin though. I will reach out to her tonight and see if she has any friends that work in the Austin market who *might* be able to help get the story picked-up. Wish I could do more, but being so far away and with no connections of my own, this is all I can offer.

I hope I am replying correctly, bless my heart...all four chambers!

That would be so kind of you and greatly appreciated, because this case has not received the attention it deserves, especially early on.

KPRC-TV Search continues for Houston friends missing after they were last seen in Austin
http://www.click2houston.com/news/police-seek-houston-man-woman-who-went-missing-in-austin

Texas EquuSearch said Gibson was last seen wearing a white or light blouse with dark pants.

Taylor was last seen wearing blue jeans with a light or tan fleece jacket.

EquuSearch said the details of their clothing were confirmed by video obtained from the club where the two were last known to have been.

I don't understand. Did they go to a club after the festival at Town Lake Auditorium Shores?

ETA: Ok, I found another source that states they went to a club after they arrived on Friday night.

ABC Channel 13 - April 7
http://abc13.com/1279512/

They drove from Houston to Austin on Friday to attend a concert Saturday. Late Friday night they went to a nightclub. That's the last anyone has seen them. .

Thank you for providing the link to the story that finally gives a details on what they were wearing. It was updated yesterday (4-7). Until then, no one had shared that and if you notice even on the TES poster, it was unkown. It was five days before that came out. How is that... if they went to the friends to change after the festival , and the club they visted was known? In my opinion, there should have been an sense of urgency by both police departments the moment the car was found abandoned. In addition to media coverage because, people who may have witnessed something could be gone from the area, being that people traveled there for the festival.

Do we know who reported them missing and when?

My best friend of thirty some years is a man (I'm a female). Tho my friend and I know nothing beyond friendship will EVER happen between us, our friendship has been a point of contention for various spouses, ex spouses and even other friends over the years. I would never have taken an overnight trip with him while either of us were in committed relationships because it just would cause problems no matter how "ok" ppl said they were with it.

NOT trying to cast aspersions on the victims because I know how hard it is to get people to believe a man and woman can be just friends. I'm just commenting I guess because that aspect of the story leapt out at me.

IMO MOO

Exactly! To add to this, my husband and I were just talking and agreed that although I would trust him to travel with our girlfriends and he would trust me to travel with our guy friends, we ultimately wouldn't travel with a person of the opposite sex without the other. And not even because we think the other would be unfaithful! But we don't think our friends would even want to travel with us without the other! It just seems a bit strange to us.

Edit: oh and we are both (just) good friends with people of the opposite sex, but we still wouldn't travel with them alone!

I have traveled with a friend of another sex, but only for professional purposes, and then spent the night separately. There were no spousal problems, although I was much older than the person I traveled with. I think if these two are just friends they would be staying in separate rooms. I wonder if that was the case.

Can any of you media-savy folks reach out to the RnB radio station 96.3 in Austin? If they could post the story and photos on their 96.3 social media pages, maybe some of their listeners saw Krislyn Gibson and/or Sidney Taylor on Friday night April 1 at a club or elsewhere.

Is it possible that one of them is responsible for foul play?Perhaps one of them saw it as friendship and the other didn't, and things got out of hand.

Hi anonypotomous! That's a very interesting comment. I have to admit that never crossed my mind. I certainly hope it's not the case of course but a lot of things can go wrong when people are spurned.

Oh man. This is really scary.

I keep wondering about murder-suicide. Ugh.

It doesn't seem that the car would have been driven back to Houston the Friday night in that situation to me. The car was found in midtown Houston. His phone apparently pinged in Bear Creek park which is on the West Side of town (no where near midtown) but it is in the direction someone driving from Austin to Houston would be coming in from. It is also very large with trails and isolated parts.

"The 2,400-acre park, which closes at 10 p.m. each night, is adjacent to Addicks Reservoir. It is home to youth sports, such as baseball and soccer teams, as well as bobcats, alligators, coyotes and other wildlife."

Midtown is a very broad term that generally describes the area that surrounds downtown. Parts of it are gentrified with townhomes, lofts, bars, and restaurants that are fairly upscale and popular with young professionals. But other sections are still sketchy, have a homeless population and crack house type vibe. I am wondering if anyone has heard any specifics about what part of midtown the car was located in?

Unable to find ANY details of this case such as the actual location the car was located. LE are exceptionally silent but hopefully for good reasons.

I wonder whether the car was found close to where Sidney would usually park it, close to his home, work place, or other places he frequented (gym, shopping center, friend's house, church, etc). This might then point to some kind of personal crime, they knew the perpetrator.

More likely though this was a random carjacking at gunpoint, and murder, and the car ended up in their hometown by coincidence. jmo The whole route from Austin to Houston should be searched.

Was it said when the last ping in Bear Creek park occurred?
