TX TX - Kristy Booth, 19, Midland, 2 Feb 1980

kristy looks a lot like arroyo grande doe to me, at my completely unresearched first-glance.

There is a definite resemblance. Are we certain on the height? I noticed one site listing Kristy in the 5 ft 5 range, and then ACJD as up to 5 ft 4...Probably NOT her, but they do look alike.

I don't think its her they don't look anything alike. And anyway didn't it say somewhere that she was about sixteen and Kristy is nineteen?

I'm always willing to keep an open mind on height, since it is often strangely all over the place. Within reason, of course. I wouldn't try to match a 4 ft 11 unidentified with a person described as 6 ft. And yes, age within a few years too.

I mean, we have seen people be identified and it turns out we were looking for someone who was older, younger, the wrong ethnic background, etc all along.

With Kristy, maybe her sister will return and rule some things out for us? I have seen a range from 5 ft 5 to 5 ft 8. And for ACJD I have seen up to 5 ft 4. I don't personally have a strong sense that they're the same either, but always worth a look when there are some similarities.

This thread is so quite. Have we learned nothing else about this case?

This 'boyfriend' who for whatever reason ("to pick up some drugs") drove her car and just left it abandoned, running, was an ex-con who despite being a suspect was basically let off because he passed a lie detector (big whoop, means he's a great liar) and there was no body.

I just always get the feeling like dead women just really didn't bother cops back then. Like, at all.

Sorry, just frustrated I guess. Knowing these days cell phone activity and CCTV probably would have easily nailed the guy bothers me.

Same thoughts here. His story still doesn't sound very legit. It seems there are a few pieces missing. Her parents are both deceased, so is a brother. Kristy Lynn Booth (1960-1980) - Find A Grave... According to the clipping, her father always thought she was buried somewhere in Midland County. I sure hope her body is found someday. I wonder where this boyfriend was living and working and if they searched around there. Maybe it's an idea to make a FOIA request, to get more insights in the investigation.

might sound dumb but what's an FOIA?

So the AMC Pacer ran out of gas while being driven by Ron and was abandoned but started right up when found? Highly unlikely with the cold and icy conditions. Ron also dropped her off at 7 and returned at 11 but stated she was not there and left, then ran out of gas shortly and abandoned the car. Kristy was last seen dancing with a white muscular male but left her shoes and coat in the club. Do we know where Ron said he went to after abandoning the car? Did he stop somewhere to ask to be picked up since cellphones were rare and not very reliable then. My theory Ron could have known the man dancing with Kristy and more than likely new the car was running low on gas and abandoned it for another vehicle that could drive better in icy conditions. Their is so many unanswered questions in Ron’s story without knowing where he said he went or why he needed the car (besides to possibly find drugs, did he bring someone back with him?). It seems to me that Kristy knew a familiar face and went willingly. Highly unlikely that she would be abducted from the club without making a scene. Any other ideas or thoughts?

Another theory is if Kristy left her shoes she would have been obviously carried to a car and not walked in the parking lot because of icy conditions. This can be where the muscular man comes in to play that was dancing with Kristy. If she also was planning on meeting Ron at 11 after he was supposedly looking for drugs then she could have participated and overdosed. Due to the ice on the roads they wouldn’t be able to speed to the hospital and would have been too panicked at calling an ambulance if they were on drugs. The car could have been staged a mile away from I-20 or lost control due to the ice on the roads. I’m not sure what Midland looked like during that time frame but if that area was empty or out of town away from businesses, then how far did Ron walk before someone picked him up? Or was he followed by another car to that spot and picked up after the car supposedly stalled?

Hi and welcome @Trock1987 I also have so many questions that are sadly never are going to be answered by the ones involved. Ron is deceased (died on October 20th 1981, 21 yrs old) and is buried in Indiana. He was shot. I don't know who the friend is she supposedly went with to the club and what she has to tell about that evening. Maybe she is deceased also. (her cousin allegedly was talking about strange things happening with the people who were "at her table") The article you posted mentions a muscular guy she was dancing with. I never heard about him before. This info must come from people who were there or it is made up.

Also wonder...was there a back door? Could somebody had spiked her drink, she went to the toilets and died there and the owners wanted to get rid of her body, using the backdoor? Still...the question stays; where was her friend, what does she know?

Maybe he dumped her body on some oil field in Texas. I didn't find in what places they were operating in Texas in those days.

That bit about her shoes being left behind always struck me as strange. I wonder if they came off her outside (for example, if she was being dragged through the parking lot), and someone "in the know" put them back inside when no one was looking. How many young women will step outside in icy conditions without shoes?
