How could they not have found her. How?

How can they close a case if it is only preliminary results? I don't like that.

That is the main part that strikes me as odd. I am believing that she likely did commit suicide… but at the same point, I've never heard of a hanging that wasn't at the home. Hanging is so dramatic. LIke you truly would want to be found, and found quickly. Why choose that method if the location wasn't at home?

Reasons could include: Don't want husband, who is home all the time, to stop her. To reduce the risk of husband being the one to find her. To die where she found true solace and peace (the woods)....

Hanging is often chosen as a suicide method not because it is 'dramatic' but because it is statistically more 'successful' than, say, OD'ing on drugs, or attempting to drown yourself ... and the accessories needed are more accessible than firearms for many people.

A woman who hung herself from a tree in a park:

And this, where two women hanged themselves from a tree within a week:

Of those deaths, about 23 percent, or 9,000, were by suffocation, which is how hangings are classified, said Lanny Berman, executive director of the American Association of Suicidology in Washington, D.C.

Most people who hang themselves do it inside their home, with about a quarter of the suffocations happening outside.

Maybe there was a note?

I hope there was for her familys sake. I hope that they have something to know for sure and that it was kind and helps them somehow.

This must be unbearable for them today.

"GARDEN RIDGE - Preliminary results of an autopsy on Leanne Bearden's remains indicate the Colorado woman who went missing nearly a month ago committed suicide, police said Friday.

Garden Ridge Police Chief Donna O'Conner released a statement saying the initial findings indicate Bearden hanged herself, and that the case was now closed."

“The final ruling is pending toxicology results,” O'Conner said in a release. “The investigative information indicates the death occurred a short time after she was seen leaving the residence for a walk

I have no words. Wrapping the family and Josh in hugs and prayers.

I followed this case fairly closely at first, then slacked off a bit.I'm so sorry to hear of the outcome here,I was one who never believed that Leanne ran off.I thought she'd been murdered, and that she'd eventually be found.Never in my wildest dreams did I think of suicide.

Sending my condolences to Josh, and her family.I hope that Leanne is at peace,it is such a shame ,she just seemed so full of life.

I know, Scarlet. It just hurts.

We don't even know if a dog was ever walked through that part of GR. The first dog search tracked her to 3009 I think, and then was called off by LE according to Josh who said her sister was there when it happened.

The large search with twelve canine teams was in a different, more wild, area.

Imperfect people, imperfect dogs, too many assumptions made. Who knows?

Josh must be replaying this in his mind over and over, poor guy. My heart breaks for him.

I'm sure it's already been posted but I just saw this update on the Facebook page. http://m.herald-zeitung.com/mobile/...cle_e427b292-95cf-11e3-a440-001a4bcf887a.html

“The area was so wooded that you could have walked right by her without even seeing her,” the chief said.

I am curious how she was in fact found? I have read workman and I have read homeowner.

If it was a workman what would he be doing out in that 'so wooded area' and be able to see her since the chief said you could walk right by her without seeing her?
TIA

Simply because they were not there. As many others have said, dogs do miss things. It is what it is.

Sorry, That does not fit. Dogs are trained to follow her scent. That is what they do. They should have found her. They should have.

I hope that A SAR person will pop up and help.
