“On Jan. 22, 2025, Linda’s mother, Louise L. Watts, passed away at the age of 100 not knowing who killed her daughter, Linda,” Weed said. “Obviously, there is a void in the family and friends of Miss Muegge because of this selfish act of someone who has no regard to a precious life. The family, friends and community need closure to this senseless act.”
''On Monday, May 14, 2007, Linda Muegge was murdered at her home on Franklin Street in Gillespie County.
Muegge was murdered sometime after returning from yoga class around 5:30 p.m. Someone attacked her, using both blunt and sharp instruments before smothering or strangling her to death.
Muegge’s body was found in the debris of her burned home. The fire was called in to the Fredericksburg Fire EMS Department at 7:59 p.m.
An autopsy was ordered by the Justice of the Peace and, two days later, the Travis County Medical Examiner’s officer in Austin determined that Muegge was dead before the fire began.
Police were later able to confirm that an accelerant had been poured on Muegge’s body and other parts of the home to start the fire.''
