Those Nevada yearbook photos really look like LEK, especially the one in the middle. I think one reason we don't see the folds on the side of LEKs face, especially in the young ID photo, is the way she has her head tilted back. The light is hitting her face and filling in any creases.

I tried to post the link to the Reddit discussion, but the link won't work (must be a security thing). It's pretty easy to find, though.
Search Reddit for "Reddit Bureau of Investigation" and the title of the Seattle Times article is one of the top threads.

I know we've been searching missing persons databases, but has anyone considered looking at wanted criminals/fugitives from the 80s? I'm thinking specifically of cases like Sara Jane Olson/Kathleen Ann Soliah (former SLA member who lived under an assumed name for 20+ years).

For example, could be a situation like this (not this particular fugitive, but the type of crime, etc.): http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/dt/donna-joan-borup

Also, this is TOTALLY outside the box, but if not for the fact she birthed a child, I might consider looking for missing boys/men to match LEK...

More about Ellen Ruffle... Weird that Ruff and Ruffle so similar, though i realize this is probably a long shot, since it was LEK's married name. Another 5 letter E name like Erica and LEK's daughter's middle name. Could explain love of tea. Same teeth-clenched smile and similar nose. Their body types look similar, though hard to tell from the photos of just head/shoulders, as is their coloring. I can find no stats about her height, and no photos of the husband. She may have been pregnant with LEK when/if she ran. Here are some links to more details, and photos. I can see LEK creating an identity to protect a runaway/abused mom, esp if she wasn't a legal citizen.

Some hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. She supposedly was employed there during High School and then lived there after graduation. It says "Lori Kennedy" and she didn't change her name to that until July of 1988. The letter says she worked at the hotel until July of 1988. If she was in Bangkok, Thailand, how did she get to the US to change her name on July 5, 1988?? That's the date on the name change paperwork.

Here is a gallery of all the documents:

Yes, and who would write a letter of of reference without even dating it? Also, using the terms "from high school " and "after graduation" is odd and vague for a legit letter of reference. A little strange too that there are no phone numbers provided by this "employer/landlord". Idk, the whole thing sounds like something a naive teenager might come up with, IMO.

Why would Jane Doe want to manufacture an employment / rental history from Thailand of all places? Another strange thing. Was it her way of distancing herself from her real identity and past, or because she believed it would be harder to track down and verify, or possibly both.

Actually, you don't see those folds in any of her pictures, young or old. It's like she was flat in the face in that area where most people have folds there when they smile. She had a few features that were somewhat "unique" and not super common.

She's got the "E" name and the name Ruffle is close to Ruff and that may be what drew her to Blake Ruff. I was thinking she could have been one of the older kids but if she had spent much time in the UK, her "accent" (which she supposedly didn't have) would have shown it. But I think this woman resembles LEK for sure.

can someone who found the yearbook picture sleuth out the person in it and figure out if they are sill around alive that sort of thing so we can rule them out.

lori is not coming up on any database for people entered into cods anyone with dna on file is not matching up with her we have to figure out now how many missing women around that time frame are missing without dna in the system

as for the la theory and her being from california that makes sence. la is about a 2 hour drive to bakersfield my other half his family is all in bakersfield.. we both live on the east coast new england and visit california often this is how it worked ( my theory) she wanted to go somepalce in california that was big but far from la. bakersfield is the largest city in the desert . she goes there hits up the cemetary maybe goes to the library looks up the births or deaths on microfilm gets the info she needs and then goes to idaho to get her drivers licences becuase she cant do anything else in california shes afraid she will get cought someone might recognize her.. once you leave bakersfield you are driving for a while with just really small towns with nothing but a few house you can see from the highway and a huge rest stop kind of thing.... people that live in those towns always go to bakersfield for stuff..

i can tell you that in bakersfield there is more than 1 walmart and many of the chain stores there are like 2-3 sometimes 4 in bakersfield thats how big it is if anyone wants more info on bakersfield i can give it to you

I looked up 402 civil code just for fun:

402. In addition to the persons permitted to solemnize marriages
under Section 400, a county may license officials of a nonprofit
religious institution, whose articles of incorporation are registered
with the Secretary of State, to solemnize the marriages of persons
who are affiliated with or are members of the religious institution.
The licensee shall possess the degree of doctor of philosophy and
must perform religious services or rites for the institution on a
regular basis. The marriages shall be performed without fee to the
parties.

Perhaps married in a cult type org checking to see if marriage was legal and binding? Or as listed in general info, a former member was severely beaten for bring his new bride to show her around-could it be our girl? Doubt it, but throwing it out there. Maybe a child of cult members?

I thought of Synanon, they had a marriage festival in 1972:

General info, not a very nice org if you got on their bad side:
Synanon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The most well known missing person from Synanon:

Finally read all the way through, nothing to add except that now all of these new articles are coming out about LEKR, I wonder if her husband will comment anymore about her. Maybe something would come to mind that she might have said that didn't seem important at the time but maybe now it would? I sure wish he would have been more inquisitive. I can't imagine marrying someone that I really didn't know. Also, maybe her ex bf that said she had too many problems for him to handle is following along with the news stories and might add to the comments somewhere...it would be really interesting to hear what he has to say about her.

doe_likeness.jpg

Found a student with her likeness from Nevada yearbooks for 1987 and 1988. The photo on the far right is a '87 sophomore photo, and the middle is the '88 junior photo of the same girl. I cannot locate an '89 class yearbook to see this student's senior photo.

On an uncanny and unrelated note, in both yearbooks, I recognized a former co-worker friend in both yearbooks. Wasn't sure if it was her, and after further research, by golly, it is my friend. And I never knew she went to this school and had lived in Nevada. Lol.

I passed this girl's name on to fred&edna to help with the search. I just did a thorough search of her name on the Classmates.com reunion page for her high school and she is not listed among the 16,322 persons on the Alumni list. And her name does not come up as graduating or attending that school that next year (her Senior year). Hmm.

Six with same name (same middle initial, same age) living in same NV city, but... I have no idea if all or any of them would be the girl in the yearbook photo. I found another site mentioning her as a student at the school but... I'm not sure it's reliable.

And the girl's name comes up with hundreds of women with the same age across the U.S. in various states, too.

Yeah, I would LOVE to hear what either of these two men say now. There would for sure be things she said or did that didn't seem significant back then that might give more clues now. They have a lot more to "draw from" trying to find out who this woman was.

Too bad it's such a bear to research. The likeness is about identical. Only the chin and upper lip seem off a bit.

I think it says somewhere her husband said she had a dental plate.
