Look at this case number on this page. Notice 8ufok
Same letters on note sheet but two letters mixed up? I REALLY THINK she was looking for someone or tryin to figure out who she might be.
Because the notes page is leading us to all these other cases.. Crazy? Was this case number a federal case number?

Linda9681, where on the the note page are the letters?

Lastly, as I said a few days ago, I have been tweeting the link to the Seattle news story twice a day hoping some of my follower's will find and interest in it and keep retweeting it with the hope of eventually getting it to "trend" or go viral. I also shared the story on my FB and now a few of my friends are taking an interest...I believe word of mouth along with what ya'll are doing is gonna eventually solve this. Oh and I did tweet the story to Anderson Cooper..maybe I will tweet it to Nancy Grace and some of those anchor's on HLN. Makes me feel like I am helping a little bit.:blushing: Have a good day everyone .:seeya:

I agree with you, word of mouth and getting the story to as many people as possible is key. Did you see the Seattle Times update story from yesterday? http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2021389291_janedoefoloxml.html

The bottom line is, the mystery remains. But the farther the story spreads, the more likely it is that someone from her past will step forward.

No, I hadn't seen that yet Claire, thank you for sharing. I agree, all it is gonna take is one person that knew her before her new, fake life and then the whole story will come out.

I started yesterday reading all of the threads again, and the newspaper stories since the first time I was having to go through everything faster to catch up. Sometimes, you miss something the first time around.

I love your timelines and fact sheets too, they are a big help. I do have to say that out of all of the theories of why LEK would go to this extent to disappear, it surely has to do with her self preservation in one way or another, like she probably had no choice, was for her safety. We shall see eventually.:seeya:

I was just thinking about her need for self preservation today. This isn't really a theory, more just a thought. Maybe she wasn't hiding from someone or something she had done but instead hiding from what someone else had done. For instance maybe her father or mother did something so incredibly bad that she had to leave and start a new life. Just didn't want to be tied to that person or be asked questions about what they had done.
Shoot I guess maybe that is a theory, just not a detailed one.

Yes, people generally have a hard time imagining parents being destructive and evil, but all you got to do is turn on the news every so often and you hear of some really insane things so that angle is very possible. I have thought of so many different possibilities like when she was dancing, if in that atmosphere there were some shady people that maybe she saw something she shouldn't have or got involved in something she couldn't get out of. Or wouldn't it be kinda weird if we found out the only reason she was doing these things was due to schitzophrenia or some other mental illness where she was imagining all of this. Seems like I have heard that adult onset schitzophrenia is pretty common.

Btw, on another topic, were there ever any newspapers in California that ran her story, like the LA Times for example? I wonder if any of the smaller newspapers might run it..like in san bernandino, or Hollywood? I am not familiar with Calif./Hollywood at all but I picture people..how can I say this..um people maybe in the underbelly of Hollywood, people around Sunset strip, in the valley, the homeless or people of the streets..maybe someone in this area might have known her back then. Also people like Ms. Jeung, the makeup artists, people in those type of trade industries, hairdresser's, people behind the scenes in the movie industry..the workers..I just bet someone in Hollywood would remember her. Sometimes I have a hard time trying to explain what I mean..hope ya'll understand what I am saying. If ya'll agree, should we try to find some newspapers in this area to submit the story too?

As far as we know the only California newspaper that ran the story was The Bakersfield Californian article on July 4, 2013. http://www.bakersfieldcalifornian.c...ies-to-Bakersfield-girl-who-died-in-1971-fire

I wrote to some of the reporters at the LA Times, but got no response. Maybe if more people wrote suggesting the story, it would help to spread the word.

Do any of you know if there was ever a DNA test done on the Ruff's baby girl? If her husband was as disconnected as everyone claims I am wondering if she truly birthed a child. I know its crazy, but I am curious as to why there wasn't a birth announcement (I know she didn't want a wedding announcement, but can't imagine why she wouldn't want a birth announcement) she was after all SO head over heals with her daughter and was already doing tons of things in the public at this point. Please don't get me wrong I am not suggesting she did anything illegal to get the baby, but I just can't wrap my head around this WHOLE story. I have every thought that this isn't as complicated as it seems, I am really believing that its a case of no identity prior to BST (at least not in a public manner).

FWIW, I had neither a birth or wedding announcement for those milestones in my life. This may be because newspaper announcements are what my parents' generation did. Ours do email or facebook or texts. I assume that newspaper is what you mean by announcement.

Actually, most of Arizona doesn't follow daylight savings time. So depending on the time of the year, it is either 3 hours earlier that the east coast (i.e., same as Pacific time) or 2 hours different from the east coast (i.e., same as Mountain time) this TOTALLY confuses me when I am trying to set up conference calls.

Exactly 3 hours earlier aka 3 hours less
Maybe she was referring to the east coast or someone on the east coast? I saw they don't follow daylight savings time in Arizona... this confirms some sort of first " real tie" to her story she is from AZ.. was she in AZ and researching something on the East Coast? Or On the East Coast and researching something for Arizona- making a call or a call on her phone bill? Calculating what time it would be if she called? If I was in AZ calling the East Coast,,, I might write 3 hours less, meaning where I am FROM is 3 hours earlier than where I am calling or vice versa- if I was on the East Coast and calling AZ I still might write it as 3 hours less, meaning where I am calling TO is 3 hours less..hope that makes sense.. but apparently AZ is ALWAYS 3 Hours Less/Earlier than the East Coast

That thought had crossed my mind too--since he seemed so disconnected, did he even know if she was pregnant or not, if he got her pregnant?

It is a sad fact of our society today that people don't do birth announcements anymore because they are afraid of identity theft, or somebody coming to steal their babies in the night.

Same things goes with obituaries. Which is really the best example to demonstrate my point.

There have been many reported cases of people breaking into homes because the death of a family member and related funeral arrangements were published in the local newspaper. To spell it out: The obituary told the thieves when the mourners would be out of the house. If you look at older obituaries, they usually listed things like, survived by son John of XYZcity, state; daughter Jane of YZXcity, state. Now if they list the family, it is just the names with no city or state attached.

Same goes with birth announcements, I wouldn't want any local pedophiles or baby brokers to know that I just had a baby. My children were born in the late 1980's and a friend in law enforcement advised us to not publish that information. This is not new, it has been going on for over 30 years. Even in the 1980's, there was a form to fill out in hospital after giving birth that gave you the option to say that you did not want the birth announcement in the local newspaper.

She could have simply legally changed her name without the fake birth certificate/name thing and been done with all of that. If she had changed her name and moved out of the area no one would know she was connected to those people. So I am not sure that's it, but I could be wrong.

but apparently AZ is ALWAYS 3 Hours Less/Earlier than the East Coast

No, actually it's not ALWAYS three hours less than the East Coast. The Pacific Northwest and the West Coast (California and Oregon) are always three hours behind the East Coast. But Arizona doesn't change its clocks for daylight savings time/standard time. Arizona is the same time as we are right now; three hours behind the West Coast. In the fall, when we change our clocks BACK an hour, the East Coast will also change their clocks back. For half the year, Arizona is on Mountain Time, which is TWO HOURS behind the East Coast. She may have meant that, indeed, but Arizona is not always three hours behind the East Coast. It's only that way during Daylight Savings Time.

I have been so busy today that I didn't get online until midnight but I did send and email just now to Anderson Cooper, Nancy Grace & the LA Times. This is a copy of the email I sent below. I am not the greatest at letter writing but I hope it was sufficient. What do you all think? It would be great if Nancy Grace did a story about her. The case would probably be solved pretty quick with the amount of viewer's that she has.

Hello, I would like to submit the story below on Lori Ruff in hopes that maybe you and your colleague's would be interested in investigating it and possibly do a story about her on your network? I found her story a few weeks ago when I was reading the news online. Her story is so intriguing that it draws you in to where you just want for somebody to figure out her true identity and why, at such a young age she would go to so much trouble to disappear and become someone else. She had to have had someone helping her or maybe through reading one of those how-to books on how to disappear that they had back in the late 80's. Some people make comments that everyone should leave it alone, let her rest in peace, etc but she has a 2 yr. old daughter that she left behind and one day this child is going to grow up and want to know who her mother was and why she would take her life. I think it would be wonderful if these answer's could be found out now, for her sake. I am linking a few article's below that tell her story and the last link is to a sub-forum at Websleuth's devoted to her case and a very well organized timeline of the actions she took to disappear. Thanks for any consideration, Kristi

She stole another’s identity, and took her secret to the grave. Who was she?

Timeline: Becoming Jane Doe

With a flurry of activity in 1988, our Jane Doe acquired a new identity, starting with the birth certificate of a girl named Becky Sue Turner who died years earlier in Fife.

Three years after Texas woman's suicide, a question lingers: Who was she?

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/06/26/texas-woman-identity-remains-mystery-three-years-after-suicide/

Over at Websleuth's, they have created a sub-forum for this story on Jane Doe/Lori Ruff. One lady created a timeline that is excellent, plus alot of other informative thought's and idea's on who Jane Doe might have been. Here is a link to the timeline - Timeline and Media Thread *NO DISCUSSION* - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Yet there would be a court record of her name change. So she wanted her name change to be a true identity change and bury her old name, which she sure did! If she had just changed her name, it would be traceable. Beginning her name change with a fake name, obviously did what she wanted, because no one so far can figure out who she was.

I looked through the 1987 Los Angeles phone directory and cross reference by phone numbers on her sheet as well as the names on her sheet (Laciner, Jeung) and other than the Ing Seuk Jeung that mandiedq also found, none of these numbers or names are listed in the directory.. if we can find 1984, 85, 86 and 1988 directories for Los Angeles maybe they are in there.. .just seems odd the numbers are not in the 1987 directory. Just our luck that maybe these numbers were only valid before or after 1987..

To clarify: the LA public library only had 1987. They didn't have any other directories from the 80s. (And there was no listing for Jeung that looked familiar in the 70s copy they had.) Thanks!

Here is a link to buy the old Los Angeles phone directories for the years we need...$19.99... when I get paid, I may just have to order at least one year unless I can find online like 1987... curiousity is killing me...
If the note was written in 1988 or after, the people may only know here as LEK or never knew her at all..which seems really strange to keep the paper if she doesn't know any of these people...
Unless like someone said, she was spying on someone else and the person she was spying on knew Jeung and Laciner, etc.. http://www.spyralsearchsales.com/SouthCal.html
