I wonder how often the info on driver's licenses is wrong. Just those of us on this thread, how many have wrong info? Nearly all mine is wrong and I have never changed it. It has me as a brunette but I've been a bottle blonde for years. It says I have brown eyes but they are actually so hazel they're nearly all green. My height is close but I thought I was taller than apparently I actually am. So if the info off my driver's license was used to try and match me with an unidentified woman, there would be no match.

Lori looks quite tall and, just going off the photos we've seen of her, I would say her height is probably at the upper end of all the heights given for her, like 5'8" or so.

I'm throwing out another idea, unrelated to my previous posts. It concerns how LEK learned about Becky Turner in order to steal her identity.

The ways so far proposed that she found BST appear to be limited to either (1) a local newspaper, or (2) walking thru the graveyard. Both work if LEK came from the Puget Sound area. But I've been mulling over a possible third: was a relative of one of LEK's parents into genealogy? If a distant relative one of BST's parents (i.e., shared a common great-grandparent) wanted to disappear, & got ahold of a family tree that included BST, that would contain enough information to determine BST would be a good pick: born in one state around the right time, died young in another.

For example, while I know all of my cousins on my father's side well enough to recognize them in a photo, my mother's family is another matter: she was an only child, & her two paternal uncles live in different states, while I've never met any of her mother's family. And if one goes back another generation, that includes a lot of people who are strangers to me. I suspect I am not alone in having a fair number of strangers as relatives, people who know of me thru an aunt's or cousin's genealogical research.

If I could ask one question of BST's parents, that would be it. And I think this is more likely than assuming LEK was an illegitimate child of BST's father.

Thank you all your websleuthers for all the work and study that you have put into this.
If you go to this website on the next line, it has the interview and the passport application page.

http://live.seattletimes.com/Event/Live_chat_with_investigator_reporter_about_Jane_Doe_case?Page=1

Thank you for that link! All of the links in the Seattle Times article to related content are broken, & until now I had assumed the live chat with Joseph Velling the SSA investigator had been deleted. One more piece of evidence on this case is now more accessible to us amateur sleuths.

I live in SK, Canada, so I am not able to research the telephone numbers listed on the passport application. But if the American folks could do some research with regards to the phone numbers, that would be great!

Howdy neighbour!

According to the passport application, Lori was 5 ft 11 inches tall. I am 5 ft 7.5 inches, I think, despite what my driver's license says. So she was much taller than myself. You are so right though as the information on driver's licenses is very inaccurate. I don't even know what color my eyes are. It's not something that I ever focused on. Eyes can not easily be categorized off in regards to color. They defy description. Well, the people on tv tend to have blue eyes. ha ha.

Lori Kennedy had the following information on the passport.
Residence: 6266 Melody Lane, Apt. 3079 Dallas, Texas 75231
Home phone #: 214 987 9606
Work phone #: 214 373 6736
It said that her eyes were hazel.
Her height is 5 ft 11 inches.

In Canada, I could go on canada411.ca and do a reverse listing for a telephone #. But I don't know how to do that in the U.S. A. .
We also have to go back to the date upon which she made that application. So telephone numbers do change from one year to the next. It would be interesting to go to that residence address and play detective. Maybe someone in the neighborhood knew something about her. There are always people interacting with people. It could be someone had cut her lawn, and had a casual conversation. Everyone has let their guard down once and awhile, even though Lori seemed to be very private. There might even be a landlord for that building who remembers her. There are so many possibilities. I am so far from Dallas. I always wanted to go there though. We get -40 F up here, so we seem so far away from it in so many ways.

Thank you all for being such good websleuthers. It's a honor to belong to such a group.

As for the Dr Crane aspect..... how about the Marfan's related angle?

http://www.marfan.org/about/body-systems/skeleton-and-joints

I was wondering if she'd be in pain due to Marfan's syndrome. Thanks for the link.

Has there been any doubt she had Marfan's, or is it the general consensus that LEK had it?

I'd say that if she presented early onset arthritis, that it made it unlikely that she worked as a dancer -- at least for very long. The only reason I've considered this allegation credible was that she had breast implants. I also assume the reason Joseph Velling believed it likely was that he could find little or no SS earnings recorded during this time.

It figures that a young person might get a start in business with Kelly services. But it's also a vast network of people, so there is less chance of finding out anything about Lori from them. l

I want to check out that location to see how close it is to that residence. I can use google maps.

It was good to find out who she was working for. Thanks for the discovery.

I did locate both addresses. They are located relatively close to one another in north Dallas
off highway 75. Texas Presbyterian is located very close to the Kelly Services in that location.

And, actually, upon further searching, that Kelly Services branch apparently has closed:

Google also confirms, however, that the phone number was theirs.

And you're so far from the Grey Cup champions. No -40 this week, +2 is perfect weather for a parade for our :happydance:champions.

There's an entire thread about suspicions that she had Marfan's Syndrome. There were some good points for and against her possibly having it. I'm curious as to how she could have owed Dr. Crane. Wouldn't she have been denied treatment if she could no longer pay. Would doctors really let her go so long without being caught up on her payments?

Depends on the doctor. It also could've been a balance billing situation where she owed money for something insurance didn't cover... if she had insurance.

We have often wondered why FLEK wasn't reported missing by anyone that she 'left behind' from her 'old life'.

Maybe she wasn't because she didn't ever completely leave them behind. Maybe she simply moved far away from them and kept in touch every now and then via telephone/email etc. She wouldn't have told them about her new identity or anything.

It makes complete sense, because the last thing FLEK would have wanted was to have somebody searching for her and potentially putting her 'disappearance' in the press or on the internet.

If this was the case, they may have reported her missing when they no longer had any contact from her and were unable to get back in touch.

Therefore, I have started working through a several hundred strong list of tall missing females right up to the time of FLEK's suicide. I will let you guys know if I find any interesting potential matches.

This is exactly why I believe she didn't want the Ruff family to put the engagement info etc. in the paper. Out of fear that the people who still "knew" her as who she was would see her now as Lori, and not the other person.

However, what is confusing with this thought to me is, they had brief interactions with her throughout all this time, then bam after Christmas nothing? At that point I would think after a bit they might get curious, or wonder why they haven't heard from her. Unless, she had communication until the person passed away or something like that, and so there isn't anyone now to wonder where she went.

When I ponder LEK's relationship with the people in her pre-1988 life, I am reminded of the case of Joyce Vincent. Vincent was a woman who had died in a London bedsit (what we in the US call a "single resident occupancy" or SRO) but two years passed before her body was found. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joyce_Vincent (The Wikipedia article links to other articles worth reading about her story.) No one noticed Vincent was missing due to a number of factors, the most relevant to this case include her family believed she had deliberately broken all ties with them, not having any close friends, & while her acquaintances were numerous, all thought she "was off somewhere having a better life than they were".

Not to say they thought LEK was living better than they, but figured she was living her own life, maybe having at last found what she was looking for & successfully putting her skills to good use.

MINE IS ALSO WRONG!!!! my eyes are right but I'm 5'8 and my license says 5'7 and it says auburn hair? Im bottle blonde too, was brown never auburn (I don't see red anyhow) and it says 116.....hahahahahahahahahaha I must have totally lied

Hey, Sloane, I figure you weigh 116 and a little extra! The worker at the DMV once asked politely if I wanted to "change anything on the license, like height or weight?"

I said, "well no." She replied "it's good to have a goal" with a smile.

The height & weight are likely just typed as notBecky Sue/FLEK said them. We do know from the pictures that she is tall and has weight generally in proportion to that height.

but where, r where, did she come from???

What I recall was a photography/agent directory. Not the photo stock library. Had the Visage main number AND the makeup and production line. I will try and find it again : ) the page had a green background and it was a different LA prefix not 323.
Looking for number and found a few saved notes....
