Irving Man Missing For 3 Years

Bud Gillett
Reporting

(CBS 11 News) IRVING An Irving man goes missing, and now police and family members fear the worst.

Family events at the Teakell home in Irving have huge hole: a missing father and brother, Louie Dwaine Teakell. He's feared dead--maybe even murdered--over drugs.

"He did have an addiction to drugs," said his sister Jamie Teakell. "And that didn't alarm us right away because he did go off a couple of weeks at a time. He always made sure that he called one of us to say, 'Hey, I'm alright. I love y'all. I'll be home soon.'"

But not this time; no word, no clue, for three years. He got hooked on drugs---mostly meth and marijuana, police say---after a work accident severely injured his back and spine. He'd been in and out of rehab and was trying to kick his habit.

Teakell was last seen at an Irving convenience store on November 4th, 2003, when a friend dropped him off to buy some cigarettes. From there, he vanished, leaving sisters, his mother, and five children struggling to cope.

"People talk about their dads and it comes up my dad," said his son Chris. "I don't have one, so what the heck."

"He just got so severe into the drugs that he got into a world that he didn't belong," saio his mother, Deborah Malone. "And it cost him his life."

Police have gotten tips---a body supposedly buried---but so far they've led nowhere. Investigators hope shining a light on his story may loosen someone's lips.

Irving Police Investigator Jill Smith said, "We are hoping that somebody will come forward with any information that they have to try and bring closure to this family and ultimately to bring peace to his children."

His mother is pleading for answers. "I know god will put it in whoever's heart that knows anything, please give us peace."

They already fear the worst but not knowing for sure is even harder.
