GUILTY TX - Maleah Davis, 4, Houston, 5 May 2019 *EX-FIANCÉ ARRESTED* #12

That comment pointed to SA at the very beginning, imo. And I think it’s as likely as not that this type of abuse was going on...

There’s also a photo, one of the ones from the trip the family took to the beach- and I know a photo is just a snapshot of a moment, you can’t really tell what’s going on just based on a photo- (which I saw in the media thread, ftr) but with the comment DV made about the 3 Hispanics saying Maleah looked sweet and whatnot- the pic shows DV maybe helping to pull up Maleah’s swimsuit bottoms, and the look on her little face is so uncomfortable and disturbing to me.

BUT I don’t think we need SA to account for his committing the act of murder. And I do think it was murder, maybe not premeditated but still murder in the second degree (what does Texas call that?). I think, based on everything we’ve read, that he killed her in a rage (of “homicidal violence,” as the ME said, I believe) after being left with her (and not for the first time, repeatedly and in his view unfairly tying him down) while BB was elsewhere, and after a pattern of escalating abuse causing the injuries she sustained leading up to her death.

Just my thoughts this morning.

I hope truth and justice are served sooner rather than later.

I agree with all of this. For a murder charge, we do not need the SA. It is something though that there are more than a few hints of here in this case imo.

I do not recall if I have ever mentioned it or not here, but the beach picture bothered me as well. I never really noticed anything about pulling up her bottoms but the look on her face haunts me, from the very first time I saw it. That is a child who wants him nowhere near her and yet has no way to get away from him and she knows there is nothing she can do about it... That is what I see in that picture... Her face says it all.

Jmo.

It's Bowens with an s on the end. She also goes by the name Autumn Vence According to this Heavy Article:
"According to Holbrook, Maleah’s mother, Brittany Bowens, who also goes by Autumn Vence, was picked up from the airport Friday night by another family member."

Maleah Davis Amber Alert: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

I'm not sure of her legal name-- maybe check for any combinations of the above? :)
This is the first time I'm learning of BB going by a completely different name. Very interesting to me. Sure going by your boyfriend/psuedo fiancé/pretend child's stepdad's last name is one thing but a completely different first AND last name is really weird to me. But I guess perhaps no one actually calls her Brittany and she has always gone by Autumn (middle name or nickname) and just picked up the last name, that would be a little less weird but still such a fair stretch.

GRAND JURY INDICTS FOR TAMPERING WITH CORPSE IN MALEAH DAVIS DEATH
July 25, 2019

A grand jury indicted Derion M. Vence for tampering with the body of Maleah Davis, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced Thursday.

The indictment for the felony offense of Tampering with Evidence comes weeks after prosecutors charged the defendant on May 11 with the same offense.

“Our work continues to seek justice for Maleah,” Ogg said.

When prosecutors receive a final autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office, that evidence will be considered as part of any decision regarding possible additional charges.

Maleah’s remains were found in Hope, AR, along Interstate 30, on May 31.

Maleah Davis Memorial Bridge approved in Arkansas
The "Maleah Davis Memorial Bridge" is now closer to reality.

The Arkansas Highway Commission unanimously approved the proposal to rename a Hempstead County bridge, known as the Red Lake Road overpass at Exit 18 on Interstate 30, in the 4-year old's honor on Wednesday.

Plan to rename bridge in honor of Maleah Davis moves forward
[...]

“This baby was left on the side of the road not 500 feet from [the bridge]. A cruel thing happened to her in our county,” says Sheriff James Singleton, who helped lead the renaming effort.

“Our county wants to remember this young child, bringing attention to keep your babies close."

The Arkansas Department of Transportation says it usually takes much longer for naming requests to be approved.

“This is one that the commission felt strongly about and was happy to do so,” said spokesperson Danny Straessle. Straessle says it’s now up to the County to design and purchase signs for the bridge.

Earlier in July, the sheriff said the new signs won't cost the county anything thanks to donations.

According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation, there is no specific date for when the signs will go up.

Once they are manufactured, the signs will be scheduled among all the other signs in the making.

Maybe she wanted to (metaphorically) "get rid of" both the names, because she has the same name as her mother? I can totally see that as a rationale. In fact, desiring her own identity separate from her mother, is (would be) about the only thing BB has done which I find relatable.

I doubt it very much. Killing a child is a Capital charge in Texas. And since they have not charged DV with murder yet it seems like there may be doubt about the timeline, and who actually killed Maleah, and when it occurred.

I can see a woman like BB not pointing her finger at DV. And DV staying silent, hoping for a year sentence, on the "Desecration of Body" charge. It is beyond depraved.

I have different thoughts on that. JMO but I think much will hinge on the final autopsy report. LE already has forensic evidence and BB has an alibi - she was out of state when Maleah went missing. I believe DV will be indicted for murder. And hopefully BB will have some charges thrown at her and maybe DV's brother too.

We may see more charges in August when the Grand Jury next meets or we may have to wait until 2020 but I'm confident LE and the DA will pin Maleah's murder on DV. MOO.

I don't think I can recall another case presented to the Grand jury in piece meal.

Am I to understand that prosecutor waived this case to the grand jury for the single charge tampering with a corpse, and upon final autopsy and ME report, they will seek another indictment?

This was discussed early on. Her legal name is Brittany Autumn Bowens. Autumn Vence seemed to be her “rap name” or street name used in association with her modeling career and his rap career. Moo

Could possibly the scenario have been that they presented two charges, but the murder charge was a no bill?
