Whew... door locked would have narrowed suspects to a select few.

Door unlocked with no cameras leaves many possibles.

Relatives should have been contacted .0001 seconds after no reply IMO to check on her.
Fully agree. It’s disconcerting to think that they may be unable to make an arrest.

Police said all the apartment complex employees, including the maintenance staff, have fully cooperated with their investigation and at this point do not appear to be involved.

Investigators also said while they were processing the crime scene, a single key was located inside the apartment and collected as evidence. The key was processed by their crime scene investigators and was not found to open any doors at the victim's residence.

I sure hope this is the person and will lead to a quick arrest.

The person of interest in the horrific murder of an 11-year-old girl in Pasadena, Texas crossed into the U.S. and self-surrendered to El Paso in January—According to DHS sources.
18-year-old Juan Carlos Garcia-Rodriguez from Guatemala was only 17 at the time he crossed and was turned over to @HHSGov ORR custody and released. His current address is listed as the apartment complex where the little girl was sexually assaulted, strangled, put into a trash bag and hidden under her bed. His sponsor is allegedly living in Louisiana.
Garcia-Rodriguez has not yet had a court appearance.
Authorities believe he may have fled to Mexico.
Pasadena PD will hold a news conference at 2pm today.

So potentially a key to something the killer is connected to.

I pray this little girl's story does not get lost in the politics of the border issues.

They need to post a few still shots of the BOLO POI instead of embedding them in videos!

Was it this thread that someone was thinking this was a teenager? I think it was. Whomever y'all are, y'all are correct (yes 18 is legally an adult but it's also a teen in many many ways)

SNIPPED: She just celebrated her 11th birthday a few weeks ago. Neighbors threw her a party

Wondering who was at that party. UGH!

Agreed. It is almost certainly to be someone familiar with the family, who is home, who isn't home, when, and...probably someone known to the victim, that she felt a level of comfort to open up the door for...

Yes, a few people had this intuition, and 18 is definitely a teenager.

Didn't I read she texted that a stranger was at the door?

There have been a few different versions of a few different things. I have also read that she texted "Someone was knocking on the door" Maybe LE will clear it up in the press conference.

I thought it just said "someone is at the door" dad replied "don't answer it" she replied " I am not I am in bed"

I wonder what the legal implications are for the sponsor, as they sign an affidavit that they are "financially responsible" in all ways for the person(s) they sponsor.
